I only missed the secret meeting song, but was an amazing concert, truly amazing!

Saw them in Berkeley tonight. Show was amazing but it really made me understand just how good this setlist was.

I saw my first National show on the web when NPR was covering Bonaroo or something in 2010.  That show hooked me to them and I finally got to see them at Calvin College in GR MI a few years later.  This video was a special night as not all shows connect with the audience like this one does.

By the way, the opening shot of Jupiter and its moons???? Worth the price of admission on its own,

What an incredibly fabulous fecking show! But does anyone else think it a bit strange how concert goers these days don't dance?? Like, 95 percent of the people were as straight as reeds the whole show long ... how do they do that? WHY do they do that?? I've gone to loads of shows over the years and these days the punters ... just don't dance! They seem to like it, they clap and cheer between songs, but Jesus, if you weren't moved to ... well ... MOVE during this show ... hmmm. Must be a generational thing?

I love how he's like, I know 75% of those lyrics. Guitar player is like, you go....Oh yea....got it. I thought I was the only only one who forgot lyrics. Lots of Lyrics in a 2 hour set. Impressive. Great show! It was a pleasure to watch!

Vocalist has zero stage presence and a limited voice. The band is great at producing generic Urban Outfitters' background music.

+AAA AAA How can something like this be called refreshing? The band is ok, at best. I've given every album a chance. Just not for me. Don't respond with some limp-wristed lecture on music being subjective. I know. Everybody knows.

The National's music isn't meant to sweep you off your feet. Its understatedness is what makes it so appealing and so refreshing.
Alan Evans (3 months ago)
fuck yeah. The national is why I'm still alive

This is one of the best live performances they've done. Really enjoyed listening to it!

Pretty low key show guys. Love it. Best unknown band. Glad I’m only one who enjoys really f’n good music like The National. Cheers. 🇺🇸

Wow! Great to watch this back after the event. I had the privilege to direct this live show, a highlight in my career made even better by being able to watch it back a year later. It’s up there with my ‘best gigs’, thanks for posting.
Somtam Gawd (4 months ago)
Wow these guys always kill it, so much energy during their live shows. If you like them checkout The Runaway by Regret the Hour, feel like the singer has a similar vibe

whats that Victoria song about? Not bad..... Maybe more cow bell.
Didgeridoomen (3 months ago)
Late reply, but Squalor Victoria is probably about someone realizing that their current lifestyle isn't suited with their job. There's some detailed stuff about it if you google it.

Mr November is just the spark that makes their shows so great...the way he walks among people like if it's nobody's business and then it's just the contrary...epic. Love that part every time I see it. I simply adore The National. <3

It's pretty impressive that the gig just get's better after the first hour.

I've seen Pink Floyd perform Comfortably Numb, Tool perform 10,000 Days, hell, I've seen Van Halen perform Panama! But, The National's performance of About Today on this night, at this Venue, is the greatest thing I've ever seen.

I think my favorite part of this whole thing was that moment at 1:35:23 when the intro has been building and building, and then you hear those familiar notes start and you can just feel the energy of the audience... It always gives me chills.

Once I bumped into Matt accidentally after a gig in Vienna. The only thing I could think of saying was: "was the cable long enough?" He said they always test it before the show. It was fun.
Descendant of Kraff (6 months ago)
He keeps walking in front of the speakers during Graceless causing a feedback loop.

THE NATIONAL is the worst band, I have ever seen in my life! Never know, that these guys are actually coming from USA !!! The name of the band is really TOO BIG for this sound! If any NATIONAL sounds like this, then pardon me please ... I will shame and hate myself belonging to ... I have much better names for this band, for example: - The Ducks from Pimlico - Dutch Red Bicycle Without Wheels - Greenwich time is over! - Donald is low

When I saw the thumbnail, I thought it was Andrea Bocelli. Still see Bocelli there. The studio versions of the songs are good.

The look on Aaron's face at 1:08:12 when Matt sings the wrong verse is hilarious

Ballin? Or bawling? I don't think you meant "ballin" considering what that implies (unless you're into that sort of thing).
