What would Jesus do? "WWJD" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJwynZqK
Thomas Lapsley (3 months ago)
I was kind of rough on you Dr Bolin and you'll probably never read this email me again but, I pray that you do. Some friends of mine that are married are residents in NYC that's going through a little bit of a tough time. I wrote them the following perhaps you might find it enjoyable. I wanted to clarify a statement I made to you guys I got likes on all the other comments but, this one. I was thinking it's interesting that Jady sounds like JD in "WWJD". The "what would Jesus do" philosophy.Try this philosophy it's a good one if applied honestly, it will probably help your future medical practice. And any person that laughs at this philosophy and says it's a child's way of thinking is wrong. Also, please remember the strongest faith is that of a child and they learn and grow faster than adults. I don't know if Jane and Jady are christian but, I here Jane use this method all the time and think she's going to be a great doctor. In addition all Christians use this philosophy all the time and don't realize that fact. The modern Hippocratic oath has the philosophy of WWJD. Here's an example that's consistent with the Hippocratic oath. When a doctor is in trouble and out of his league what is he suppose to do? The oath states "I will not be ashamed to say "I know not," nor will I fail to call in my colleagues when the skills of another are needed for a patient's recovery." It's consistent with the teachings of Jesus Christ. Jesus prayed, especially when he didn't know what to do. Jesus was part god and taught us not to be ashamed to ask for help, as in the oath. Jesus taught of the trinity, the body of Christ, which is within every christian. When a doctor does know what to do he is to refer to his colleagues. In a sense the doctor is praying and asking for help. In the WWJD philosophy, what would Jesus do, Jesus is teaching us to call on God the father, who is infinitely more knowledgeable, and the body of Christ for help. This is the reason in medicine we have specialists and teaching hospitals. Doctors are not gods, Jesus was part God and taught us to ask for their help. Jesus taught us that we are to pray. Yes the body of Christ is the holy trinity and was taught, it's not the 12 disciples it's the entire christian faith and is applied today. Think of what the Trinity is and you'll understand. If your puzzled or confused and you don't know what to do, ask yourself what would Jesus do, "WWJD". Gesundheit, TL

Hey doc, if a minor needs a blood transplant but she’s a Jehovas Witness, and her parents are demanding not to do the transfusion, what do you do (assuming it’s a life or death situation)?
Paul Bolin, M.D. (3 months ago)
Thrawn Mon - Go forward with the transfusion. Parents’ religious objections do not apply to minors.

Dr Bolin you like Aristotle. Here's some advice from the ancient Stoics. It is the Latin the word " æquanimitas". Equanimity is a central concept in Stoic ethics and psychology. The ancient Greeks used the words apatheia or ataraxia whereas the Roman stoics used the Latin word aequanimitas. Aequanimitas, having an even mind; (aequus even); (animus mind/soul) is a state of psychological stability and composure witch is undisturbed by "experience" of or exposure to emotions, pain, or other phenomena that may cause others to lose the balance of their mind. Socrates was the teacher of Plato. Plato's most famous student was Aristotle. When I was a child I learned a famous saying from Socrates that I never forgot and try my best apply to my life. It is " To Thine Own Self be True". It's so strong that most our western philosophy flows from these Greeks. William Shakespeare used this quote in (Hamlet, Act-1, Scene-III, 78–81) Polonius: “This above all: to thine own self be true, And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man. I came across this quote when reading and thinking on one of William Osler's quotes. William Osler is one of the founding fathers of John Hopkins medical school. I believe he should also get credit as one of the founding fathers of the first residency programs. His quote is as follows. "The good physician treats the disease; The great physician treats the patient who has the disease" Two woman share an apartment both develop lumps on their breasts, one has both breasts removed, the other I married and took her to numerous doctors, and technicians to prove she did not have breast cancer. How many people do you know that share the same apartment and get the same lumps? Strange? At the ER at Saint Joseph's in Paterson, NJ the nurse practitioner, nurse and resident said it's nothing it's just a lump, it means nothing. I said, my aunt had a lump on her breast and died of breast cancer. Their response was a lump on the breast was nothing then and it is nothing now. They did no exam. Only gave us the run around with some forms to fill out and bring to the business office if we wanted future treatment. I took Lisa to several different places because a comment was made by a group of men across from the Ecuadorian consulate in Woodside, N.Y. where she use to live. They said that's what Wynn (Brady Cruise), Lisa's apartment mate, gets for being a lesbian. Lisa is not a lesbian. During her recovery, Wynn, stayed with others in that apartment building and she was mentally tortured (B'd) out of her apartment building. She told me on the phone the last time I talked to her that she was treated terrible and would never go back to that building. Wynn disappeared after this and I pray that she is alive. She was treated in Elmhurst Hospital and Bellevue hospital. Lisa and I where attacked by the medical community etc... in New Jersey and we are divorced. I continue to get stalked and harassed and I'm have difficulty finding medical treatment. Oral Candida etc... What is the reason the moral ethics is not practiced in medicine?. What do you suggest I do for my medical treatment?

How much to write me a prescription for Fluconazole 200 mg first day and 100 mg everyday after ward for two weeks? Pfizer doesn't like me but, it's the best drug for this application.

In addition how do I get burn marks on the top of my feet. Like Father Pio?
Thomas Lapsley (4 months ago)
Your a doctor here's a question. I helped out some women. I believe in equal rights. I am for pro choose. I haven't had sex in around 5 to 6 years. I haven't taken antibiotics. I haven't taken steroids. I don't have dentures and haven't been to a doctor in around 5 to 6 years. How do I get oral candida? Tongue is white and roof of mouth. In addition, my ears have a thick white discharge. How do I get the same infection that women get in their vagina's. How does this happen?
Thomas Lapsley (4 months ago)
Dr Bolin, thank you for personally replying. I didn't think you would reply. I was sincere in stating that your medical videos are good. I'd like to respond just a little at this time. I have a strong argument not only with the catholic church for what was done to my family, friends and business associates but, also with the protestant churches that joined them on the pro life movement etc... They both have used medicine to murder, kidnap, torture and force their philosophy. Their's is not a United States philosophy. Their stigmatic mysticism is used in organized crime. Here's and example Padre Pio, a Franciscan that has bodily marks, pain, and bleeding in locations corresponding to the crucifixion wounds of Jesus Christ. That's a chemical. You could do it to yourself with a catalyst in front of naive people and win them over easily especially if you drug them with a psychiatric mind control drug. That was done to my brother David. Theirs many around the world that are naive but, they have no money. But there naive enough to believe these gangs that promote frenzy's against the pro life groups and use secret organizations like the Knights of Columbus or another secret group the Knights of Malta, they start out with good morals and ethics for there children and turn into organized crime gangs. Remember John Gotti went to church every Sunday. These gangs have used deceptive methods, such as psychiatric drugs and hospitals to attack "pro choose groups", LGBTQ communities etc... Father Pio not only hurts himself but, others like my brother with his organized crime following. His mafia following uses psychiatric drugs to force their crimes. It's stealing from the poor to form corrupt international organized crime gangs. That's what pay's for some hospitals that run to torture and kill for there believes in this country. Another example is the crucifixion's in the Philippines before Easter. Would you encourage one of your patients to hang on a cross like Jesus Christ. Some die and some are seriously hurt. To me, they way I was educated in the catholic and protestant faiths two commandment are broken. The first is I shall not lie. The second is I shall not have false gods before me. Imitating Christ is blasphemy. Padre Pio and those Philippine men that risk their life's every year in hanging themselves on the cross are not god, as Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ was god, I'm not and if they try to use the trinity for a argument they are wrong. I'm not going to get into the trinity con but, the Borg on Star Trek is becoming science fact not fiction. And other organizations use these methods not only the church. The Muslim's are famous for their puppet governments. Some backed like the Shah of Iran's by our CIA. It's wrong and not consistent with the United States philosophy of independent creative thinking and freedom. Your a intelligent man which would you choose Father Pio for your doctor if you where sick. There are doctor in the NYC area like father Pio that have gangs that make people sick and heard them to them. They take control of hospitals also. Psychiatric groups are famous for these criminal actions. That's how they try to cover up and get away with these crimes. Do you see their harmful psychology? Do you think holy water is going to cure any person of a serious disease. I'm a member of Origami USA, this year I went to the Origami convention at Saint Johns University, Queens the chemicals in there ventilation system mixed with what was in my body to burn my eyes and made me physically sick. I reported this. Then when leaving I was surround my a gang all the way to Manhattan and other drugs where activated in me to make me look like a pyscho and to terrorize me. Two priests with collars where in those gangs on that day. I don't see priests walking around with collars to much in Manhattan. I saw two in those gangs in a short period of time at two different locations. That group from Saint Johns University are Charles Masons and they've done worse to many before including myself. Here's another example I walked into a catholic church in Riverdale the Bronx, NY a little late and the south asian priest yells from the pulpit we payed people off to put poison in your food. I wish I could tell you of the other murders like my father how was an honest member of K of C and other crimes but, I can't at this time. Possibly you could use your influence in the future to change this in your catholic community and the medical community. I also know these rapes are done to doctors and their families. My first wife is a doctor to turn them into slaves and puppets.

Thanks doc. What is the difference between beneficence and non-maleficence?
Paul Bolin, M.D. (4 months ago)
Beneficence = Doing good (actions you take) Maleficence = Not doing evil (actions from which you abstain)
Thomas Lapsley (4 months ago)
Dr Bolin, I love your other videos. The statement you made of going for masters degree in theology after medical school sends up a big flag that something is wrong. Why would you go into theology after a MD degree? I was a christian in both the catholic and later the protestant faiths. My father was a district deputy in the Knights of Columbus. They are gangsters with corrupt lawyers, police and psychiatrists and doctors. They form slave networks. A far as the catholic and the protestants churches are concerned they are wrong. They have no business in medicine. They murdered my father and raped two of my marriages. Murdered my father in law and mother in law, business associates and friends. My immediate family was also raped from me by those so called ethical Christians. TheY are murderous militant pro-life missions. The philosophy is and this is a direct quote "it's ok to murder for unborn babies." TheY are guilty and they used the medical community to commit those crimes.
Thomas Lapsley (4 months ago)
Sounds like your experience is not that different and I'm not against God. It's man made religion, not God, which has turned into organized crime on a very large scale and their using medicine to torture, indoctrinate, kidnap and murder. Your fortunate, you didn't have a breakdown. I and others where drugged an did. It took me years to finish school after that drugging. I do have a degree in physics and electrical engineering from two schools and I was made sick almost everyday getting those degrees. My first wife in my opinion, was raped by a catholic priest and converted or was sold to the Jews. That priest I heard was moved to a monastery in Switzerland. I also heard he's back and wants to smoke some Cubans for the pro life movement. My first wife was born in Cuba and educated here. She did earn four undergraduate degrees, a masters in neuroscience and a doctorate in podiatric medicine. The catholic university, Barry University, Miami Shores where she went to school for her DPM tried to raped us. The residency she got with there influence, at the east orange V.A. near Seton Hall University tried to get their hooks into her by trying to get her go along with a murder in surgery. She told me how they killed the man in surgery and then we got drugged out of our marriage. Same christian organized crime groups etc.... I want those gangs to pay with both criminal and civil actions. And it's not just the catholic gangs. I don't know what a grandfather right is? I do know the Hippocratic oath and the AMA code of ethics. Your a good doctor, a man, intelligently balanced, and studied ethics, I’m surrounded by gangs, what do I do on my oral Candida, the with discharge white discharge from my ears?
Paul Bolin, M.D. (4 months ago)
I don't presume to defend what every single Catholic does -- just like, as an American, I don't presume to defend everything my government does (especially this one). When I was a medical student -- like many others -- I went through some trials and tribulations, having lost my grandfather right in the middle of studying for boards. My faith in God got me through a time that I thought would have been unbearable, and honestly it was a miracle that I was able to get through it without totally breaking down. My faith has gotten my through times that were bigger than me. God has never turned his back on me, and I don't plan on turning my back on him. I would be the first to agree that some people in the institutional Church have done some wicked things. But God is bigger than the men that make up his Church. I'm sorry your family has gone through those things, but I have a different experience personally.

Yes. I completed a master's degree in theology at a Benedictine university five years after I completed medical school. I'm not sure what is "wrong" with that. I've never hidden the fact that I am a practicing Catholic, though I make an earnest effort not to dwell on it either. I did the master's degree for personal growth -- not because I want to impose my faith on others, the least of all places at work. Theology in the Catholic tradition is strongly informed by the classical Greek philosophical schools (e.g., Aristotle). These philosophical systems inform much of modern ethics in the west. ... I'm sorry for your negative experience with the Church, but I disagree with your assessment of it (though I, too, am somewhat skeptical about the K of C). The Church commits a large amount of money towards charitable programs that help the most vulnerable -- people that our governments would otherwise leave unaided, especially here in the U.S. .. Furthermore, I believe it is important for doctors to understand the various religious traditions, since they are important to many patients, as well as to the public debate about healthcare ethics in our country.

If we have a patient with cancer and if we say him his diagnosis he will be very depressed and our treatment would become ineffective. May we say the diagnosis to his relatives but not him for him?
Gunduz Osmanli (4 months ago)
Paul Bolin, M.D. Thanks, Doctor.
Paul Bolin, M.D. (4 months ago)
No. You must always disclose the diagnosis to the patient unless he/she tells you not to. It is okay to temporarily withhold the diagnosis if you believe there is currently an imminent danger to the patient and/or possibly if they have been deemed legally incompetent, but those situations are rare.
Gunduz Osmanli (4 months ago)
F Azar thank You for Your comment, Sir.
F Azar (4 months ago)
Gunduz Osmanli I would suggest that your patient's informed consent to have treatment may be deemed invalid if you lie to the patient by falsifying diagnosis or prognosis. Additional you have a professional duty of candour that requires you to act with honesty and integrity

Just a minor correction: Last I knew (as of late 2017), the most current term that replaced 'mentally retarded" was "intellectually disabled." It appears to still be the case. For more information, Google the term "mental retardation intellectual disability dsm" without quotes and your first hit should be a PDF file titled "Intellectual Disability - American Psychiatric Association". I'm not trying to be a dick; just informative. Sorry if I come across as one [as a dick].

Also, sorry to double-post, but the second video in this playlist is marked private. Not sure if that's a mistake, or something that happens while you prepare the video for upload, or what... Thanks, as always, for yet another incredible lecture! :0)
