a 400 dollar pair of shoes wont last you more than a 40 dollar pair. and they will get dirty the same! but u can buy more cheap pairs instead of believing you can keep a 400 dollar pair clean for 7 years? lol
Thanks for the break down of all these sneakers. I think I’m going to go with the Greats brand just cause of overall quality, style and colors available. I’m a sneaker head and usually buys Jordan’s and Nike but when buying quality it’s obvious. Colehaan is another good alternate for me but mainly for work verse a dress sneaker. Thanks again!!!
Stan Smiths are Tennis shoes. They were actually mean to play a sport in. I get that the others are fashion shoes but they were made to just look good. And you would not want an all leather inside of a tennis shoe. It would chafe. And it wouldn't be particularly comfortable on the court. I'm not saying you're wrong or anything. I'm just saying it feels harsh to on Stan Smiths. They do what they were designed to do. Be an old school tennis shoe.
i watched this video about half a year ago and yesterday i finally ordered a pair of white overstone derbys from crown northhampton thanks to it! my dad liked their shoes so much he got himself a navy blue overstone derby too haha. i cant wait for them to arrive, awesome video, thanks!
EDIT: something to note is that as of today (26.5.2019) theyre £210 (not £195 as in the video) which is 238€ or $267, and thats without shipping. Shipping in GB is free, EU is £15 and worldwide is £25, so with shipping youre looking at 255€ in the EU or $300 in the US and everywhere else. just a little update on the price since it changed since the video was uploaded
Bought a pair of white M Gemi Lucentes after watching your review. They look more gorgeous in person and they have awesome customer service. I emailed them about a small issue and they quickly replied with a solution that went above and beyond what I was expecting. Great recommendation bro!
lol... just go to h and M or zara and wear them for 3 months, then buy a new pair, once a shoe is worn for more 6 months they start to smell and look old, you can clean them all you like, the fact is the structure become flimsy. Don't get me wrong Common Projects shoes are the best, but the price tag?????
Ok I now own Greats, M.gemi, jaks (Portuguese), Koio, Beckett Sim. My favorite for comfort and build quality are the GREATS. Koio Capri has slightly more quality but IMO not as comfortable. I officially do not think its a stretch to pay more for the hand painted edges and softer leather. P.S for CP silhouette replication Koio does a good job.
Wonderful, comprehensive sneaker review. A word of warning about buying sneakers from like the Crown Northampton from overseas...you better be darn sure you're going to keep the shoes by trying on someone's pair if possible, as return shipping charges will smack you in the face. Upwards of $100!
I see that your complete guide is still under construction. I recently came across To Boot New York's Carlin sneaker which you should def check out. I'm assuming that you're still working on the guide and thought I'd add another option that seems to be somewhat unknown. Thanks for the advice!
Good round up. My requirement for sneakers, luxury or not, is structural support. Too many reviews focus on looks (minimalist) and type of leather. For me, no arch support, no deal. It would be good to know which of the sneakers you reviewed has arch support or other structure for actual walking.
got a pair of new republic. love it. think it is the best trade off between price and quality. i'll be happy if it can last for more than 2yrs cuz i got a huge scratch on my first stan smith the first week i got it.
Love your vids. Just stumbled upon you a few days ago. And subbed right away.
Regarding white tennis sneakers.
Do you know veja? They have the esplar which is at the price point of a Stan Smith, but made with fair working contracts and the sole is made of natural products, no plastic.
Also.. You pronounced Adidas right at the beginning of the video. It's Adidas not Adeedas. Not that it matters, but I just thought I'll let you know. ;)
Greetings from Germany
Great vid! What about people with wider feet such as myself. I struggle with sneakers and brands that fit me comfortably. I’ve heard Lanvin sneakers run larger so I may try those. Any other brands you’d recommend that are high quality and run a little wider in the forefoot area? Thanks!
theazn07 the founder of adidas was a German man named Adolf Dassler. They called him Adi for short, so Adi Dassler, shorten that a little and you get Adi Das .. Adidas. The pronunciation must have changed over time. Now I want to know if it’s pronounced the original way in Germany.
Love the channel and this gem is fantastic! Ordered the Koios in both 41 and 42. The 41 was tight lengthwise, the 42 was too wide and long. Any of these in that grouping run toward the narrow side? Thanks in advance.
I watched your vid, thums up! Great job! But a lot of these brands are not available in the Netherlands. So, after a search i found Clarks has great white sneakers! Cleaner then any of the ones you featured! Just got them, great buy. They’re the un costa lace model. And just 100 euro. 100 bucks also in usa.
