For those of you asking about the changes to Environment Variables:
The only difference is that you can now click new, and add the entire 'link', or 'path' to the file.
I.e. Click Path, click edit, click New, paste in the link to JDK's Bin, then save, go to JRE's Bin, and do the same thing (New, paste, save, etc.).
I have just discover Java on my Win10 pro pc, don't know how it got install not by me, I check update then it tell me version is out of date, and it allowed me to un-install it, which I did, but did not allowed me to update to the latest version, so I no longer have it, do I need this java?
just copy the jdk bin path to system variables and create a java_home for jdk after doing the is you can go to the command promt and do( set path="the jdk path of your computer" this will do the needed after this to check whether the java is installed again type the command JAVAC in commmand prompt
Im previously already downloaded jdk and after i uninstalled it....and now when i download the jdk with the help of ur video...but in command prompt it says 'javac'is not recognising as an internal or external command...plz tell me what i do now???plzz
Starting 2019, Java 10 is no longer supported. Also, Java Oracle is no longer free. instead, try installing OpenJDK 11, the latest free default version of Java. [link: http://jdk.java.net/11/] and extract all files to your C: Folder, then Follow the same directions as in the video. Don't worry about finding only jdk, as the new version already has all the jre parts. Uninstall any previous version of Java through Control Panel before installing the new version. Hope this helps.
I had the same issues as others and could not get this to work. I checked out a different video and did the following:
1) Instead of editing the path variable, I added the path as a 'new' variable rather than just edit the path, I did this for both JKD and JRE
2) When checking in the command line, I ran that as administrator. The thing that seemed to get it to work, was adding the path as 'new' rather than simply 'edit' path variable.
Since your comment is 3 days old only, you've probably installed Java SE 11, which does not have the jre folder. There is no problem since the Runtime Environment is already inside JDK. So just do the same as in the video but without adding the jre folder to the PATH environment variable.
