As we age, physical activity helps us attain our goals, maintain our functioning and promote comfort. In addition, routine exercise can help reduce arthritis pain, improve mood, sleep and blood sugar control, as well as affect memory. This video includes both balance and strengthening exercises, which can prevent falls and hip fractures. interesting points ,if anyone else wants to learn about balance exercises for elderly try Loctavan Senior Fitness Strategy (just google it ) ? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my work buddy got excellent results with it.

Great video! I’m going to have to show my grandma. I was reading some comments below that weren’t very nice and people forget that some people suffer from arthritis like my grandma and can’t be as active as they would like to anymore despite how active they were as young adults.

I just had back surgery on my L3-4 and L4-5 Foraminal Stenosis and a pinched nerve that goes into the left leg and has caused me to fall 3 times, 3rd time I fell I dislocated my left shoulder and ended up in the hospital, I can't work because of my leg and shoulder, I have no health insurance and got declined for assistance, I'm doing the best I can, because the hospital couldn't find any occupation therapist that would except me without insurance, I'm doing this by myself, to try to get my leg back to a point where it won't feel like it's gonna kick out on me, my wife and I live in a very small apt with very little room!!! So any ideas on how long this could take to get at least 60% of my balance back!!

Thank you for this video. My husband just got out of a rehab unit to regain strength after a difficult illness. These exercises are much like what he was doing in physical therapy and it's easy for him to work along with the model.

My mother is 75 years old and I have especially for her got a leg stretch, a hamstring stretch. Regular classes increased her physical condition and health, decreased muscle aches and tension. I recommend doing what you're comfortable with. If you find it really easy daily should be fine. If you find it challenging it's best to rest for a day/few days until you feel ready to complete the exercises again :)

Older adults need to get off their lazy asses and get them a gym membership and start working out properly and stop using age as a crutch. Fact is most older adults are in such poor condition because they have neglected their bodies for years (poor diets,poor exercise). The body needs exercises that involve weights period and not just light weights either. There is no reason why retired older adults cant be in better shape. They got the time and the money to go to the gym.Oh yeah that's right they are giving all their money to their doctors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you. My dad is 93 and getting less and less mobile. Stays in bed too much (by choice) these days. He has Alzheimers, but if I do the exercises with him he’ll do them. When I bathe him I can see just how much his muscles have wasted, which contributes to instability and increases the chance of fractures should he fall. I have been looking for exercises in EXACTLY this simple, well paced format for him to follow on TV (thank heavens for Smart TVs, I can cast this clip on his big TV to follow - he would struggle to follow it on the iPad I gave him, eyesight not so good)

Sigh, at this age especially, exercise without restoratives has limited effect. The mitochondria, DNA and telomeres need support, plus the heart and nervous system. Ordinary food is quite the failure, tocotrienols, withanolides, salidrosides are needed plus PQQ, Jiaogulan, selenium, B vitamins, magnesium, carnosine for starters. However, any older person in a House of Pharma (nursing home) will certainly be denied these enhancers, let alone ever be told of them.
