Post them in the comments section below. --- Want to suggest a video for my Hibernate tutorial? Leave a comment below. I'm always looking for new video ideas. Let me know what video you'd like for me to create for this Hibernate tutorial. --- Hibernate Tutorial Transcript In this video, we're going to test our JDBC connection. In the previous video, we did a lot of work with downloading JAR files. What I want to do hear is just do a very simple test to make sure that our JDBC connection works just fine. What we're going to do is create a very simple JDBC program, just to test everything out, just to make sure everything works out okay. What I would like to do, is move into this hibernate tutorial under the source. I'll create a new package. Right click, I'll say New Package. The actual name of the package, I'll call it com.luv2code.jdbc. Once you're happy with that package name, go ahead and click on finish. Now what I would like to do is actually create a new class. Again, right click on that package name. I'll say New Class. The actual name that I'll use for this class, I'll call it Testjdbc. Just very simple, and to the point. I'll also check the low item here for public static void, just so I can have a main method for this program. Then again, hit on Finish. All right, great. We have a very basic program here and let's go ahead and dig in. Let's start writing some code. I have a very simple try catch block. I have catch exception EXC. I'll do the EXC.print stack trace in case something goes wrong. Hopefully not. What I'll do is I'll just set up some variables here for my database connection information. First off, I'll set up my JDBC URL. I'll call it JDBC:mysequel:localhost3306/ I give the name of my database scheme, which is hbstudenttracker. Here I'll say use SSL=false. Just so that I don't get that pesky SSL warning that my sequel introduced recently, which is really annoying. Anyway, use SSL will make that go away. All right, so that's how JDBC URL, our user ID that we created, and we did all this stuff in previous slides here. Our user is HBStudent. We have this very secure system where our password is the same as our username. Only for training purposes, right? Okay, good. All right, so our URL, user ID, and password, great. We can use this information to actually give us a connection to a database. All right. Here, I'm just mentioning again that use SSL as equals false as to get rid of that pesky my sequel SSL warnings. All right, great. Let's go ahead and write some code here. I'm going to make use of my driver manager to get a connection. I'll also do some system out print lines here to tell myself what's going on here. All right, so I'll say system out print line, connecting to database. I'll just drop in that JDBC URL. Then I'll attempt to get a connection. Here I'll say connectionmycon=, and then I say driver manager.getconnection. I pass in my JDBC URL, my user ID, and my password. If that works out fine, then we have a successful connection. I can print a statement here saying connection successful. Yah-hoo. I like to have fun with this stuff. All right, so that's the piece there. Now, we need to fix some of our imports here. I can just click on this red X. We need to do that import on java.sql, so choose the second option here. Import Connection, and java.sql. Select that item. Yeah, that takes care of the item then. We should be good to go here. All right, so just some very basic code here to test out our database connection. Let's go ahead and run this application. I just do a right click, Run As, Java Application. Then it's going to fire up, and say connection successful. Let me expand this window here, so you can see everything. Connecting to database, connection successful. This is great. This is just a confirmation that we have the correct URL, user ID, and password. Also, more importantly, is that JDBC driver that we have on our lib directory, is associated with our class path. Know that we can get a valid connection. [Snip] for complete transcript, select More ... Transcript This is the end of the Hibernate tutorial transcript.

83 Advanced Java | JDBC 4 | without using Class forName(-) oracle thin driver | adv java

12:36
Advanced Java Tutorail : JDBC 4 0. adv java | Java Database Connectivity JDBC Application to test the database without using Class.forName(-) method. JDBC 4.0 Specification: The important feature of JDBC 4.0 specification is automatic loading of java driver class from java.sql. Driver File available from jar file of jdbc driver i.e. (ojdbc6.jar in oracle 11g). This makes programmers to avoid Class.forName(-) statement in his java application while writing jdbc code. - All the jdbc drivers thar are given based on jdbc 4.0 specification are giving java.sql.Driver File in there jar files, So when these jar files are added to the classpath the driver manager class automatically collects the driver class from java.sql.Driver File, loads the driver class & registers that driver automatically with DriverManager service. ojdbc14.jar (given by oracle 10g) is based on jdbc 3.0 specification so it does not contain java.sql.Driver File . ojdbc6.jar (given by oracle 11g) is based on jdbc 4.0 specification, so it contain java.sql.Driver File as shown below java.sql.Driver------oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver postgresql-8.4-701.jdbc4.jar of posgresql is based on jdbc 4.0 specification, so it contains java.sql.Driver File as shown below java.sql.Driver------org.postgresql.Driver JDBC application to test the connection with oracle database without using Class.forName(-) ===================================================== Step 1) Set the jar to the classpath ( ojdbc6.jar) Step 2) create the jdbc application import java.sql.*; public class WithoutClassForName { public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception { Connection con=DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:orcl", "scott", "boss"); Statement st=con.createStatement(); st.executeUpdate("insert into student values(1000,'patil','Omerga')"); } } compile & run

Java EE Programming - JDBC Driver Install

14:40
This tutorial covers how to download and install the Oracle JDBC Driver. The instructions are at http://bhecker.com/readme.txt After you download and copy the driver into the correct directory you can instantly test the connection using the test program located at http://www.bhecker.com/JdbcTestOracle.java. The install is done using Oracle 10g but this will also work with 11g. Java EE, JDK 1.7 is also used although the driver is for 1.6. As of the making of this video they do not have one for 1.7 yet. The most current driver works just fine.

09:20
This tutorial is about connecting to DB2 database using Oracle SQL Developer client and third party jdbc driver. SQL Developer will not only help you to connect to DB2 database engine but also help you perform DDL and DML operation like create / alter / drop table. Select, insert, Update and Delete. Please find the third party jdbc driver : https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BznrW3lgX0ozRUxmcU0zbmVVZms

79 Advanced Java Tutorial |JDBC | RowSet Example | Java Database Connectivity | adv java

24:41
#Advanced Java Tutorial : ADV JAVA : RowSet Example | Java Database Connectivity: Limitations with ResultSet object: 1) ResultSet object can not be send over the network because its not serializable object. 2) ResultSet object does not support bean style programming. Object become serializable object only when its class that implemnts java.io.Serializable interface. We can send only serializable object over the network. class BeanDemoStudent implements java.io.Serializable { //bean properties int no; String name; //write setXxx(-) & getXxx() methods public void setNo(int no){ this.no=no; } public int getNo(){ return no; } public void setName(String n){ this.name=n; } public String getName(){ return name; } } To overcome above limitations/problems use "RowSet", given from JDBC API 2.0/2.x Version. # RowSet: ========= Rowset object means its the object of a JDBC driver supplied java class that implements javax.sql.RowSet interface. This RowSet is the sub-interface of java.sql.ResultSet interface. We have 3 types of RowSets: --------------------------- 1) cached RowSet: Its a disconnected RowSet. Behavior-wise, its like In-sensitive ResultSet object. 2) JdbcRowSet: Its connected RowSet. Behavior-wise, its like sensitive ResultSet object. 3) WebRowSet: Its connected RowSet. Collects the data from XML files. All RowSet objects are Serializable objects & they supports bean style programming. oracle thin, oci drivers give support for RowSets by supplying the following 3 classes in ojdbc14.jar (oracle 10g), ocrs12.jar (oracle 9i), objbc6.jar (oracle 11g) files: 1) oracle.jdbc.rowset.OracleCachedRowSet 2) oracle.jdbc.rowset.OracleJDBCRowSet 3) oracle.jdbc.rowset.OracleWebRowSet ----------------- ------------- package name class-name 1) Java JDBC Application to work with JDBC RowSet: (Cached Rowset) =============================================== import java.sql.*; import javax.sql.*; public class CachedRowSetTest { public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception { oracle.jdbc.rowset.OracleCachedRowSet crowset=new oracle.jdbc.rowset.OracleCachedRowSet(); ////RowSet rs=new oracle.jdbc.rowset.OracleCachedRowSet(); //bean style programming crowset.setUrl("jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:orcl"); crowset.setUsername("scott"); crowset.setPassword("boss"); crowset.setCommand("select * from student"); crowset.execute(); while(crowset.next()){ System.out.println(crowset.getInt(1)+"\t"+ crowset.getString(2)+"\t"+ crowset.getString(3)); } crowset.close(); } } 2) Java JDBC Application to work with JDBC RowSet: (JDBC row set) =============================================== import java.sql.*; import javax.sql.*; import oracle.jdbc.rowset.*; public class JDBCRowSetTest { public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception { RowSet rs=new OracleJDBCRowSet(); // OracleJDBCRowSet rs=new OracleJDBCRowSet(); //oracle.jdbc.rowset.OracleJDBCRowSet rs=new oracle.jdbc.rowset.OracleJDBCRowSet(); rs.setUrl("jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:orcl"); rs.setUsername("scott"); rs.setPassword("boss"); rs.setCommand("select * from student"); rs.execute(); while(rs.next()){ System.out.println(rs.getInt(1)+"\t"+rs.getString(2)+"\t"+rs.getString(3)); } rs.close(); } } Limitations with RowSet:- ------------------------- 1) Very few JDBC drivers support RowSet. 2) Allows only select sql operations. 3) These are not industry standard.
