Zig Ziglar was born in Coffee County in southeastern Alabama to John Silas Ziglar and Lila Wescott Ziglar. He was the tenth of twelve children. In 1931, when Ziglar was five years old, his father took a management position at a Mississippi farm, and his family moved to Yazoo City, Mississippi, where he spent most of his early childhood. The next year, his father died of a stroke, and his younger sister died two days later. Ziglar served in the United States Navy during World War II, from 1943 to 1945. He was in the Navy V-12 Navy College Training Program and attended the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina. Ziglar later worked as a salesman in a succession of companies. In 1968, he became a vice president and training director for the Automotive Performance company, moving to Dallas, Texas. By 2010, Ziglar still traveled around taking part in motivational seminars, despite a fall down a flight of stairs in 2007 that left him with short-term memory problems. Ziglar met his wife, Jean, in 1944 in Jackson, Mississippi. He was seventeen and she was sixteen. They married in late 1946. They had four children: Suzan, Tom, Cindy, and Julie. Ziglar integrated Christianity into his motivational work. He was also a Republican who endorsed former Governor Mike Huckabee for his party's presidential nomination in 2008. It is called JIFS, which is an acronym to abbreviate the 4 impulse factors of sales. When you master the 4 impulse factors I am about to share with you, then your closing ration will go way up. Here they are: 1.) Jones Effect: Jones effect is simply keeping up with the joneses. People want to stay modern and have the newest and hottest trends. No one wants to feel out of touch with the times. So a great way to use jones effect in our sales pitch is name dropping other people in the conversation, which gives us more credibility and social power. People will feel more at ease and trustful if have mutual friends or know people in their line of work. 2.) Indifference You become incredibly powerful when you detach yourself from the outcome emotionally. Don't feel one way or the other whether someone signs up with your or not. You shouldn't care whether someone joins you because you are so confident in yourself, your company, and your product, that the next person will sign up with you so it is no big deal. 3.) Fear of Loss Fear is a powerful emotion, and people fear losing out on one-time deals or specials. Take Black Friday for example. Everyone fears missing out on the deals. If Black Friday deals happened everyday then no one would care. So position your training, mentorship, or low-barrier to entry biz opp as something your lead would fear losing if he didn't take action. 4.) Sense of Urgency People hate processes and wasting time. We live in a world of instant gratification and people love to go fast. So say things like, "real quick" or "it will only take a minute" goes a low way to ease their worry. Also, people who love to buy on impulse will love to take fast action. The first thing I noticed is that, at the end of each chapter, he gives you a test...just like a text book. i think that's pretty useful. And this isn't just a book on closing, it takes you through te entire sales process. His cold calling approach could be used as a template for selling just about anything. You also get a lot of usable information on how to get past the receptionist to get the appointment. The author's list of qualifying questions is well thought out, ad I can see why they work. And they could be used for just about any product or service. You get a series of questions to identify a problem you can solve for the customer. But even more important, you get questions that will cement that problem in the customer's mind, expanding it, making it more important as a problem they will want to solve. The sections on the answering of sales objections and closing reads like some books that are classics on the subject, notably How To Master The Art Of Selling by Tom Hopkins. The reason I'm recommending this book so much, is that these techniques are assembled here for you, without you needing to read the top ten sales books to get them. Read full post - https://wp.me/p85skL-RX So, you’ve started prospecting for potential clients, and you’ve avoided the #1 pricing mistake service-based businesses make when selling their services. You've finally begun submitting proposals to potential clients, and you feel confident it's going to be a slam dunk - money in the bank. You’re going to close deals like a rainmaker and get that brand new Tesla Model S, but... One week goes by, and you hear nothing from your prospective clients. Two weeks pass... You’re confused now, “Why haven’t they called me back?” Welcome to a day in the life of a freelancer, consultant, or agency owner. How many times have you sent a proposal to a prospective client only for them to go dark and never hear from them again? It’s going to happen. Expect potential clients to flake on you. One of the biggest irritations for freelancers, consultants, and service-based businesses is closing the deal with potential clients. Clients flake. Clients don’t return your calls. Clients disappear and are gone with the wind. I’m going to share with you three practical tips on how to close the deal so you can finally stop hoping for clients to automatically sign a proposal and instead implement a process to close sales like clockwork and remove the uncertainty of whether a deal will close or not. 1) Build a relationship before the proposal Before you submit a proposal, you want to build a relationship with your prospective client to the point they trust and like you. Ideally, your prospective client should want to work with you well into the future. The key to accomplishing this is by building a long-term relationship. Now from my personal experience working on multi-million dollar deals with Fortune 500 companies most of the deals I won was because of a previous relationship with the client. Whenever I was going up and running proposals against a bunch of other agencies, I would always win because of the strength of the relationship I had with my prospective client. I knew them. They knew me. And I could deliver the service. Now you're not going to have a relationship with every single person on your prospective client’s team, but you can definitely have one major point of contact that you're going to work with. 2) The longer you wait to show pricing, the higher your chances of closing When you give your prospective client your pricing upfront without showing any value first, they’re going to be turned off. Every relationship has phases, in the beginning, you never ask upfront for the thing you want instead you pay attention to the other person’s needs and wants. You help them as much as you possibly can to point them in the right direction. You offer free advice. You give value first. As you provide value first and start nurturing the potential client relationship, you’ll start getting more information on their needs, project, and most importantly their budget. With the additional information, you uncover as the relationship develops you can eventually reveal your price when your prospective client is invested in you. Once a client has determined that you're a potential solution, the price is not going to be a major detail. 3) Even the best prospects will go dark - figure it out. From someone who's been on the receiving end of many proposal submissions, I can tell you for a fact that when I’ve received multiple proposals, I can quickly forget about one if someone doesn’t follow up with me. Like all agency owners I have a full schedule, and I imagine your world is the same. So once the proposal goes in front of a potential client, it's up to you to have a process to get them to sign the contract. You need to develop a follow-up process to get your prospective clients to start working with you. That's because it's not just your prospective client who gets to make the decision. There's a lot of decision makers out there. Clients need to do many things to sign a contract: due diligence, vendor management, legal, budget approval, etc. A rule of thumb is that the bigger the contract, the more work needs to happen and the more red tape you need to cut through to close the deal. Don't count the agreement until you've signed on the dotted line. Make sure you implement a piece of technology to follow up with your prospective client and what I mean by that is implement a CRM system. You don't want to be pushy. You don't want to overdo it, but you need to stay in front of your prospective clients to make sure that they're still thinking about you. That they're still finding value and that you've adequately relayed what your value is going to be. Tell prospective clients the return on investment from your services. Follow-up. Follow-up.
