After being forced to stay with her family at her mother’s co-worker's luxury summerhouse, Kaylie arrives with a more than negative attitude. When meeting the daughter of the house, Colette, she gets challenged in her way of thinking and starts to look at life, and herself, in a whole new way.
“Summertime Beauty” is a story about jealousy, judging, attitude, forgiveness and what beauty is really about.
I am very excited to share this mini movie with you. This is a project that I’ve been working on over the summer. One night this idea just hit me, literally hit me. I gathered some characters and started writing on a script, not knowing how it was going to turn out. The ideas and lines for the characters just kept on coming, and I couldn’t stop writing. It was one of those moments when your creativity just keeps on flowing and you are unable to stop. Past midnight I ended up with 11 pages in Microsoft Word and I was surprised how this had happened. But I liked what I saw and decided to give it a shot. Later on, I started working on the summer house, with the help of my dad (thanks dad!). It took a week to build, but once it was ready I started to film. After four days of complete filming, that part was done. And now after editing for over a week I can’t deny that I was very pleased with what I had created.
I have come to realize that this is very different from my other works. This is a true drama story, that I have put a lot of thought into. I’ve also worked in many different ways than I’ve done before to create this. I’ve worked more with the scenes and props, the lighting, camera angles and slides, the acting and the script. This is also the first time that I've worked with greenscreen, but I think it turned out pretty ok. All in all I’ve had more of a professional thinking when it comes to this video. This is also the first time when I haven’t filmed the scenes in the right order. I actually filmed each scene that took place in the same spot (the living room for example) at the same time. I’m both nervous and excited to share this with you, whether you like this type of videos or not, I have to say that personally I’m very satisfied how this turned out and that this is one of my new favorite videos that I’ve created so far. So, confidently I now present to you; Summertime Beauty! Hope you enjoy!
