Product development is a complex process, which requires integration of business and technology to deliver a successful product. Medical devices must also follow the requirements of design controls, which are based on engineering best practices for product development. We often see companies using the required elements of design controls as their product development process, at the risk of ignoring the business elements needed for a successful product. Hi, my name is Jonathan Globerson. I'm a professional industrial designer. I'm also the CEO of GloberDesign, a product development company located in North Miami Beach in Florida. I want to tell you about the simple steps that you need to take in order to launch a new product into the market. The first thing to do is research. Do your research really good: locate your market; look who is your competition; how much are they selling their product for; what are their features; do they have any patents on it. Then you'll also do an additional patent search. That can either be done by yourself, or by a hired professional attorney or any other firm that can help you do that. Next, simply take a pen and paper and start sketching. Even if you're not the best sketcher in the world, it's fine; all you need to do is put your idea onto paper. Next, you need to create a 3D computer model. The way to do that is either hire a 3d computer artist or a 3D CAD draftsman and have them convert your beautiful sketch into a real 3D model. What they do with that? You can do with that various things. The first thing you can do with that is you can create a prototype. A prototype is the first sample of the actual product that you're having in mind. We can do it with various ways. Today we have 3D printers - they actually read a 3D computer model and they convert that into plastic parts that could be used and shown physically. The other thing that you can do with your 3D model is create patent drawings. These patent drawings you can apply for what's called a Provisional Application. That gives you 12 months of patent pending status. That's just enough time for you to start to pitch your investors, talk to buyers, talk to factories, and find out more details on how you can actually make your product come true. With the 3d computer model you also send that out to a factory, have them first sign for you what's called a Non-Disclosure Agreement, meaning anything that... information they receive, they keep it as a secret. With that you'll get real manufacturing pricing and then you can make your own business plan. So, now you know your manufacturing pricing, you can figure out what's going to wholesale for, and what is going to be the retail price. Last, start making some marketing materials. Do a sales sheet, a brochure about your product; maybe even a kickstarter campaign, or maybe just a promotional video, just so you could show people what do you have in mind and try to get more attraction. And those are really the simple steps that you need to take in order to create a new product. For more details just visit our website http://www.globerdesign.com

Inspiration and a clear vision are the starting points for creative tasks. It's on a blank sheet of paper that they first acquire form, solely through a pen and the hand that guides it. The sketch is the most emotional form of an idea. This is why the designers first work out their ideas exclusively with a pen and paper. The concern here is not feasibility. Instead, the sketch is intended to bring life to the character of the model, which then remains the guiding image throughout the design process.

One of the essential early steps in the inventing process is creating a prototype--which, simply defined, is a three-dimensional version of your vision. Creating a prototype can also be one of the most fun and rewarding steps you'll take. That's because developing a prototype gives you the opportunity to really tap into your creativity, using those skills that inspired your invention idea in the first place. And whether you're making your prototype at home or hiring the services of an engineer, seamstress or machinist, it's truly exciting to see your idea transformed into something tangible and real. So what exactly should a prototype look like? First, it depends on your idea. Second, it depends on your budget and your goals. If possible, it's great to start with a handmade prototype, no matter how rudimentary. For example, I've seen prototypes made from the simplest of household items: socks, diaper tabs, household glue, empty milk containers--you name it. If it works for your initial demonstration purposes, it's as good as the most expensive materials. Eventually, if you decide to move forward with your invention, you'll probably need what's known as a "pre-production" prototype--especially if you plan to manufacture it yourself rather than license it. But as a first step, a homemade "presentation" prototype can give you a good running start. http://www.focuspdm.com/ A prototype provides other advantages, as well: 1. It enables you to test and refine the functionality of your design. Sure, your idea works perfectly in theory. It's not until you start physically creating it that you'll encounter flaws in your thinking. That's why another great reason to develop a prototype is to test the functionality of your idea. You'll never know the design issues and challenges until you begin actually taking your idea from theory to reality. 2. It makes it possible to test the performance of various materials. For example, your heart may be set on using metal--until you test it and realize that, say, plastic performs better at a lower cost for your particular application. The prototype stage will help you determine the best materials. 3. It'll help you describe your product more effectively with your team, including your attorney, packaging or marketing expert, engineers and potential business partners. 4. It will encourage others to take you more seriously. When you arrive with a prototype in hand to meet any professional--from your own attorney to a potential licensing company--you separate yourself from the dozens of others who've approached them with only vague ideas in mind. Instead, you'll be viewed as a professional with a purpose, as opposed to just an inventor with a potentially good idea. For more info on developing your product visit: http://www.focuspdm.com/

How can I get patent in US for my invention, Product, software or concept ? detailed guideline at http://patentattorneyworldwide.com/ This is most common question raised in mind of anyone who becomes interested in protection of their innovative ideas / invention. So how to get patent in US is the question that comes from every sector, age, industry and domain you can imagine. You may be: An entrepreneur : with an idea, concept or innovative product to be patented A research student: with the research project that you are working on to be patented Professional (employee): with a new innovative software, mechanical device or chemical compositions to be patented Student: with an intent to learn more about getting patent in us for your innovative ideas and products or A business owner: with new product or a new way of solving a problem in business to be patented Probably you are influenced by reading about patent and news or articles like millions of dollars are raised by an innovative startup which has a granted patent or patent pending for their unique invention. And that made you think whether that idea, concept of product you have is really worth winning a patent? You may get a lot of information on many places online, blogs, websites, books etc. but its not always very clear to the reader as every person in coming from different background, motivations and mindsets. Moreover, just like any other law, patent law also involved certain degree of complexity, influenced by case laws etc... So best advice would be, Get patent attorney involved for writing and filing your patent application Writing a patent application in US (patent drafting) is a specialised job and it requires years of practice and experience especially when we are talking about writing claims for the patent application. Patent is a Techno-Legal document, the commonly observed mistake by inventors writing patent application on their own is writing it consideration to technical side only (like a PHD thesis). what is patent and how can we protect your invention by means of patent? As per definition “The patent is an exclusive right granted for an invention” In other words, if you have an invention like new and technical solution to a problem a novel product or process a new way of achieving better results with some technical advance Having a patent on you name for an invention gives you the right to decide if the invention can be used by others and on what terms… In return for this right, the patent owner makes the technical information about invention publically available in the form of patent. Having a granted patent in US for your invention gives you right to exclude others from making, using, offering for sale, selling” the invention in the United States “importing” the invention into the United States. Point to be remembered here is: it is right to exclude others!!! That is you can stop others... hence it is your (patent owners) responsibility to enforce the patent, and stop others from copying your patented invention without your consent or permission (something called patent infringement). Cost, time line and Procedure to get patent in US How much is the cost of getting patent in US ? There is no precise and accurate answer to this question as cost for obtaining patent is dependent on multiple factors... What best we can have is range for costs involved in... There are two elements for cost of getting patent in US: The costs for Patent Office (USPTO) fees for Forms and requests. Professional Charges for patent professional, patent agent / attorney lets see these fees and charges involved in getting patent in US in step by step, detailed and easy to understand manner at http://patentattorneyworldwide.com/us/ http://patentattorneyworldwide.com/us/really-need-hire-patent-attorney-in-us/ how to save costs initially by filing provisional patent application in US http://patentattorneyworldwide.com/us/filing-provisional-patent-application-uspto-way-save-costs-protecting-invention/

http://www.enrollmarketing.com/autopilot-profits-3/ New product development is a more complex process than product re-engineering because it requires larger investment of time and resources, whereas the latter involves upgrading or improving features of an existing product. One of the toughest challenge in coming up with a new product is in conceptualizing and generating ideas that you can use. Creating ideas will serve as the main foundation with which you can offer value and function to end users. In most cases, too many ideas can also left to confusion in trying to decide what would be most profitable in the market. A product development company is available for handling the conceptualization, evaluation, market research, and the actual development process for new products. However, the ideas used will still fall on the company who will be launching the new product in the market. There are several methods that you can use to generate ideas you need to make this process less complex and to attain your goals and objectives as a business entity. Ideation must be performed by businesses to come up with a systematic search for new opportunities through the development of new products or services. This procedure is often employed by a product development company to build a long term product development strategy that will enable clients to meet the required ROI. What is CONCEPT TESTING? What does CONCEPT TESTING mean? CONCEPT TESTING meaning - CONCEPT TESTING definition - CONCEPT TESTING explanation. SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. Concept testing (to be distinguished from pre-test markets and test markets which may be used at a later stage of product development research) is the process of using surveys (and sometimes qualitative methods) to evaluate consumer acceptance of a new product idea prior to the introduction of a product to the market. It is important not to confuse concept testing with advertising testing, brand testing and packaging testing; as is sometimes done. Concept testing focuses on the basic product idea, without the embellishments and puffery inherent in advertising. It is important that the instruments (questionnaires) to test the product have a high quality themselves. Otherwise, results from data gathered surveys may be biased by measurement error. That makes the design of the testing procedure more complex. Empirical tests provide insight into the quality of the questionnaire. This can be done by: conducting cognitive interviewing. By asking a faction of potential-respondents about their interpretation of the questions and use of the questionnaire, a researcher can verify the viability of the cognitive interviewing. carrying out a small pretest of the questionnaire, using a small subset of target respondents. Results can inform a researcher of errors such as missing questions, or logical and procedural errors. estimating the measurement quality of the questions. This can be done for instance using test-retest, quasi-simplex, or mutlitrait-multimethod models. predicting the measurement quality of the question. This can be done using the software Survey Quality Predictor (SQP). Concept testing in the new product development (NPD) process is the concept generation stage. The concept generation stage of concept testing can take on many forms. Sometimes concepts are generated incidentally, as the result of technological advances. At other times concept generation is deliberate: examples include brain-storming sessions, problem detection surveys and qualitative research. While qualitative research can provide insights into the range of reactions consumers may have, it cannot provide an indication of the likely success of the new concept; this is better left to quantitative concept-test surveys. In the early stages of concept testing, a large field of alternative concepts might exist, requiring concept-screening surveys. Concept-screening surveys provide a quick means to narrow the field of options; however they provide little depth of insight and cannot be compared to a normative database due to interactions between concepts. For greater insight and to reach decisions on whether or not pursue further product development, monadic concept-testing surveys must be conducted. Frequently concept testing surveys are described as either monadic, sequential monadic or comparative. The terms mainly refer to how the concepts are displayed: 1.) Monadic. The concept is evaluated in isolation. 2.) Sequential monadic. Multiple concepts are evaluated in sequence (often randomized order). 3.) Comparative. Concepts are shown next to each other. 4.) Proto-monadic. Concepts are first shown in sequence, and then next to each other. "Monadic testing is the recommended method for most concept testing. Interaction effects and biases are avoided. Results from one test can be compared to results from previous monadic tests. A normative database can be constructed." However, each has its specific uses and it depends on the research objectives. The decision as to which method to use is best left to experience research professionals to decide, as there are numerous implications in terms of how the results are interpreted.....
