How strong is a 3D Printed part?

14:54
In search for original and fun ways to do 'real world tests' of the latest 3d printing materials on offer, Clone 3D Print and 3D Printing Systems decided to draw on past experience and contacts in the marine industry to perform an unscientific but intriguing look at not only the strength of a printed part but the process in which 3D printed parts are created. They decided to team up and put together a somewhat educational video (and to see for themselves) what are the potentials and limits of different 3d printing materials. The material selection was ABS, Wood, Polycarbonate and Carbon Fibre. When they first started out in search of good materials for a replacement boat propeller, wood was never originally going to be included, it was more for a laugh than anything else. Com'on really, a wooden boat propeller! Bruce from 3DPrintingSystems.com 3d scanned an aluminium boat prop from a 15HP Yamaha outboard motor using the EinScan-S, also known as ScanMaster Plus in Australia. The resulting scan was exceptional, in the video you'll see it even captured the serial number etched into the original prop. The scanner was not able to view the internal core/spline of the propeller so Sarah of Idea Beans modelled this in her CAD software, the scan and the core were then merged together to form a solid digital prop ready for 3D printing. Hayden from Clone3D.co.nz sourced the afore mentioned materials and printed the propellers with a solid fill at 0.25mm layer height. Clone 3D Print provides a printing service in New Zealand, director Hayden Bennett with 20 years past experience in the marine industry also designs and sells a range of 3D printed products for marine purpose. Bruce and Hayden did a bunch of bench testing with the different props as you can see in the video with some surprising results. The propellers that made it through testing in one piece were then taken to the sea, Half Moon Bay Marina, Auckland NZ, the 15hp motor was bolted to a 12ft inflatable and each propeller/material was given its chance to shine. The video is a worth while watch, it provides a unique insight into the different materials and the performance of them, it's just that little bit more intelligent than a printed part vs hammer, and while it is not the first time a wooden boat propeller has been used it is certainly the first time a 3D printed boat propeller has been scanned, printed, tested and proven to work! Thanks for watching and look here out for more vid's in the future of real world tests and applications for 3D printing.

Best Cheap DIY 3D Printer Kit Anet A8 - RCLifeOn

05:14
In this video I will showcase the "Anet A8 Desktop 3D Printer Prusa i3 DIY Kit" for just 200$. You can find it here: http://www.gearbest.com/3d-printers-3d-printer-kits/pp_337314.html?amp;utm_medium=demo&utm_campaign=YouTube&lkid=10122147 HUGE COUPON: A8Desktop The above link is an affiliate link, meaning by purchasing the product I will receive a small commission by the company. This makes me able to produce videos. Specifications: Model: A8 Engraving Area: 220 x 220 x 240mm Frame material: Acrylic plate Platform board: Aluminum Base Nozzle quantity: Single Nozzle diameter: 0.4mm Layer thickness: 0.1-0.3mm Memory card offline print: SD card LCD screen: Yes Print speed: 100mm / s Printing material: ABS, PLA, Luminescent, Nylon PVA, PP and Wood Material diameter: 1.75mm File format: G-code,OBJ,STL XY-axis positioning accuracy: 0.012mm Z-axis positioning accuracy: 0.004mm Voltage: 12V Host computer software: Cura, Repetier-Host Packing Type: unassembled packing Certificate: EMC, FCC, LVD, RoHs This is a DIY kit, meaning the package arrives in parts and is not assembled. The building of this 3D printer was surprisingly easy and should not intimidate anyone from buying this product. The assembling process from start to finish was approximately 5 hours, and another 2 hours for programming. Cura or Slic3r? Well, first of all I'm using the Repetier-Host software. In the very start I did in fact use Slic3r with success. However, it significantly improved the print quality once I changed to Cura. That's the slicer I use all the time, and is highly recommended for beginners! How noisy is it? Not noisy at all! According to my sound meter app the decibel level hovered around 60dB. You can definetely be in the same room as the printer! My two best tips for improving this printer is the following: 1. Print out a better cooling nozzle! The included one is terrible because it only blows air on one part of the printed object. When the other side doesn't receive any cooling it will warp and twist, causing your print to lift one corner. Cooling is the key for improving prints! With no cooling the outer layer will not look as good as it could with sufficient cooling. 2. There's nothing worse than a failed print! This could be caused by numerous things. However, the one major problem I experienced in the beginning was tangled filament. Basically the filament holder was not rotating smoothly enough for the extruder to pull it efficiently. The filament tangled and blocked the filament entrance, causing a failed print. That's why you have to make a better filament holder. I recommend you construct your holder by using bearings (see video). Assorted m3 and m4 screws and nuts. I also bought the hardware kit from ultimate 3d but I don't advise it as its for a different z brace kit and a wee bit expensive but it is "ready to go all in one" just print the parts. I also bought the longer bearings but I am not impressed with their smoothness and maybe be looking for higher quality smoother bearings soon as my prints are coming out so fine now that I am seeing artifacts in the surface finish that is likely from the bearings and the tensioners and stuff.

🔻This Snowmobile is For Sale🔻 Ebay auction: https://www.ebay.com/itm/173681721355 It starts on December 8 and expires on December 18 Original design RC model based on real size snowmobile technology. I usually count on my own abilities in my projects, but this time I tried to make a product that can be used by anyone, not just maniacs. Last winter I had an idea to create a snowmobile, I started immediately, ten months ago. The video might look rapid, but actually it took a very long time to design an authentic look and working chassis. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * It is 90% 3D printed. The front half is printed of polyamide, which is the most expensive part of the project. Other parts are printed of ABS and headlights of transparent material. I used Kyosho blizzard caterpillar which is ideal for such a project. Also used Axial shocks and ESC, small wheels and bearings from RC4WD Predator Tracks, custom 3D printed transmission. Steering "wheel" is made of metal rod. Polyamide parts are primed and painted with acrylic paint. The seat is covered with artificial leather. All the expenses for printing and factory parts were about $700. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * It is one of a kind. Polishing a copper 3D Print (eSun eCopper filament ender 3 timelapse)

02:58
Timelapse 7 is on its way but in the meantime here's a project i've been working on for the last few days! An artist on instagram by the name of @robot.rndr (https://www.instagram.com/robot.rndr/) let me print one of his rendered pieces in esun eCopper filament. I sanded it with a course grit sanding sponge then i wet sand it with 1000 grit sandpaper. finally i used an abrasive paste and a rag to polish it. I started to encounter some delamination after accidentally sanding through the first .6mm wall, but the area is less noticeable in person. this was printed on the ender 3 with a .6mm nozzle at .3mm layer height with 4 walls and no infill. total print time of 5 hours! looking forward to doing more projects with this filament. And by basic, Arnold doesn't mean easy. Many contemporary fitness centers are full of people on machines, not in squat racks, and big-box gyms often lack even a single platform. Arnold disapproves: "Today, when I go in the gymnasium, I don't see any of the kids learning about the clean and press, or the snatch, or the upright row from the floor." Schwarzenegger's insistence on the essential lifts is not due to some grandfatherly desire to live in the past. It comes from decades of continued interest and expertise in the industry, and from the hard-earned knowledge that it doesn't take fancy machines or off-the-wall programming to become arguably the best bodybuilder in history. Get back to your bodybuilding roots and experience unbelievable growth. | Arnold Schwarzenegger's Training Tips | Chest: "There are three chest exercises that should always be done," Arnold says. "The bench press, the incline bench press at different angles, and the dumbbell flye." Back: "For back, I did chin-ups, bent-over barbell and dumbbell rows, and the T-bar row. Any kind of rowing movement will give you that thickness. Those are the exercises I relied on from the beginning of my career to the end." Arms: Arnold relied on the barbell curl to build thick biceps, but he also used incline dumbbell curls and concentration curls to isolate his biceps. "For triceps," Arnold says, "we did a lot of narrow [close-grip] bench press in the early days. And then triceps push downs and overhead triceps extensions later." Shoulders: Arnold's shoulders were built by barbell presses, behind-the-neck barbell presses, lateral raises, military presses, and dumbbell presses. "We always did presses behind the neck and a special dumbbell press which would stretch out the front delt at the bottom and fully flex it at the top. Now those are called Arnold presses." Legs "The squat is the most important exercise to create big thighs," says Arnold. "I did back squats, front squats, leg extensions, lunges, single-leg deadlifts, good morning exercises, and a lot of leg curls." Abs: "The regular training we did for abs was just leg raises, knee raises, crunches, and sit-ups. We all believed in doing 500 reps of Roman chair sit-ups." ► Arnold Schwarzenegger's Blueprint Training Program: http://bbcom.me/2yHIrMh #Bodybuilding #Arnold #Motivation #BodybuildingMotivation #ArnoldSchwarzenegger ============================================= | Recommended Mass-Building Supplements | ► Protein: http://bbcom.me/2yIG7EC ► Pre-Workouts: http://bbcom.me/2yIppoW ► Testosterone Support: http://bbcom.me/2yHEdUI ► Creatine: http://bbcom.me/2yHkBQE ► Post-Workout: http://bbcom.me/2yHke8I ============================================= | Bodybuilding.com | Sales & Specials ► http://bbcom.me/1pzVaL9 Fitness Articles ► http://bbcom.me/1pzVg5e #1 Online Supplement Store ► http://bbcom.me/1pzViu5 Free Fitness Plans ► http://bbcom.me/1pzVkCb ============================================= | Follow Us | YouTube ► http://bit.ly/1RSJFa4 Facebook ► http://on.fb.me/1lomhpr Instagram ► http://bit.ly/1LzBxab Twitter ► http://bit.ly/1RSJQlL Google+ ► http://bit.ly/1NRe8qu Pinterest ► http://bit.ly/1OOZgY4 Spotify ► http://spoti.fi/1NRebm0 We are Bodybuilding.com. Ford Tests LARGE SCALE Car Parts 3D Printing

01:13
Ford Motor Company is exploring how large-scale one-piece auto parts, like spoilers, could be printed for prototyping and future production vehicles, as the first automaker to pilot the Stratasys Infinite Build 3D printer. Capable of printing automotive parts of practically any shape or length, the Stratasys Infinite Build system could be a breakthrough for vehicle manufacturing – providing a more efficient, affordable way to create tooling, prototype parts and components for low-volume vehicles such as Ford Performance products, as well as personalized car parts. The new 3D printer system is housed at Ford Research and Innovation Center in Dearborn. “With Infinite Build technology, we can print large tools, fixtures and components, making us more nimble in design iterations,” said Ellen Lee, Ford technical leader, additive manufacturing research. “We’re excited to have early access to Stratasys’ new technology to help steer development of large-scale printing for automotive applications and requirements.” Wider adoption of 3D printing has been driven by recent technology advances, new areas of application and government support, according to Global Industry Analysts. By 2020, the global market for this emerging technology is expected to reach $9.6 billion, the organization reports. As 3D printing becomes increasingly efficient and affordable, companies are employing it for manufacturing applications in everything from aerospace to education to medicine. 3D printing could bring immense benefits for automotive production, including the ability to produce lighter-weight parts that could lead to greater fuel efficiency. A 3D-printed spoiler, for instance, may weigh less than half its cast metal counterpart. The technology is more cost efficient for production of low-volume parts for prototypes and specialized race car components. Additionally, Ford could use 3D printing to make larger tooling and fixtures, along with personalized components. With 3D printing, specifications for a part are transferred from the computer-aided design program to the printer’s computer, which analyzes the design. The device then goes to work, printing one layer of material at a time, then gradually stacking layers into a finished 3D object. When the system detects the raw material or supply material canister is empty, a robotic arm automatically replaces it with a full canister. This allows the printer to operate unattended for hours – days, even. Using traditional methods to develop, say, a new intake manifold, an engineer would create a computer model of the part, then have to wait months for prototype tooling to be produced. With 3D printing technology, Ford can print the intake manifold in a couple of days, at a significant cost reduction. 3D printing is not yet fast enough for high-volume manufacturing, but it is more cost efficient for low-volume production. Additionally, minus the constraints of mass-production processes, 3D-printed parts can be designed to function more efficiently. If you like DPCcars videos please subscribe: https://goo.gl/BSIaFc

Packaging Size: 210mm×210mm×75mm Extrusion Speed: Tested up to 200m/s Material Net Weight: 1kg±0.05kg (2.2lbs) Gross Weight: 1.35kg (3lbs) ABS, aka Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene, is a multipurpose material commonly used in 3D printing. ABS is the same material that Lego bricks are made out of and is a great plastic for fully usable parts. Final products made with ABS are very durable, withstand a wide range of temperatures, and tend to be more flexible than those in PLA. ABS is best used with a heated bed, as ABS contracts when cooled and large parts will pull off of a non-heated bed. Compatible with ABS-capable 3D printers.
Filament Friday #58 - 3D Printed Multi-Adjustment Ryobi Table Saw Vacuum Attachment

Chuck tests out his 3D printed adjustable vacuum adapter on his Ryobi Table saw. The design is based on a simple coupling he found on Thingiverse that he up sized 200% and then used in Tinkercad to design a base and funnel to make the fully positional vacuum hose extension. The original purpose was to collect sawdust flying off the blade and he puts it to the test in this weeks Filament Friday. The Coupling's were printed on the Fabrikator Mini using left over DaVinci Red ABS Filament at 0.2 layer, 30% fill sliced iwth Simplify3D. The Base and Funnel were printed in PLA on the DaVinci Jr. at 0.3 layer and 30% fill sliced with XYZware. Its designed to fit a Harbor Freight Shopvac hose. Portabee 3D Printer - First Prints and Impressions

04:41
This is a "Portabee" 3D printer. My neighbors actually got me this printer as a gift! I received it as a do-it-yourself kit. I believe they cost about 600 USD (including shipping), and it took about 12 weeks to show up. (ouch!) It took me about 20 hours to assemble (I stopped keeping track at some point), and probably another 6-8 hours into making adjustments to get it to print with any accuracy. The main reason it took so long was that I come from a machinist (perfectionist) upbringing, and this kit is far from perfect... When instructions say to "eye ball" or "use a credit card", I'm busting out the dial calipers and machinist square. That being said... I'm pretty happy with the end results. After extensive tweaking, this little printer can manage some very good looking prints. I haven't tried any super-fine layer heights. Everything shown in this video was printed at a .3mm layer height, which seems to be pretty good resolution for the stuff I was printing. Software I used: Solidworks 2013 - (wicked expensive) For the modeling and exporting as an STL file. (*there are Free 3D design softwares out there, but I happened to already own a seat in Solidworks, which is my preferred 3D design software) Cura - (Free) For importing an STL file, setting most print-parameters, slicing it, and exporting the g-code. Pronterface - (Free) For connecting to the printer, importing g-code, and then printing. I think this Portabee is a great entry-level printer. I think it was designed to be "portable", but I sure don't see that being the case. It's quite "finicky", especially for traveling with. Once you get it dialed-in and sitting on your desk, you aren't going to be wanting to move it any time soon. Perhaps the best thing about such a (relatively) inexpensive printer is that you get to assemble the whole thing yourself, and learn the ins and outs of what goes into making one of these machines. I've already got the 3D printer bug, and I wouldn't be surprised if I start designing my own 3D printer some time soon... A word about "3D printing other 3D printers": Unless you are printing all of your parts from a machine that can hold awesome (0.001") tolerances, you are bound to end up with parts that are not-so-accurate. (which is fine if the 3D printed parts were non-critical ones, but that doesn't seem to be the case for most of the 3D printers that I see). I liken it to "making a copy of a copy"... you do that enough times and you will quickly start to see the quality degrade. My advice when purchasing a 3D printer made with 3D printed parts: - Check to see how the "critical" parts (the ones that require high-accuracy) are manufactured. If they look to be 3D printed as well, then: - Be prepared to make a lot of adjustments. Fine-tuning a 3D printed 3D printer will likely require a LOT of finessing to get it to print with any accuracy. - If you desire extreme accuracy... perhaps look to the 3D printers that are CNC machined. (or even laser-cut would yeild better accuracy that "3D printed"). Good luck! :) Thanks for watching.

How V8 Engines Work - A Simple Explanation

What Is A V8 Engine? Working 3D Printed Chevy LS V8 Engine EE Shirts! - http://bit.ly/2BHsiuo Recommended Books & Car Products - http://amzn.to/2BrekJm Subscribe for new videos every Wednesday! - https://goo.gl/VZstk7 3D Printed LS3 Camaro V8 Engine Model: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1911808 V8 engines operates under the same basic principles as any other gasoline four-stroke engine. First the piston pulls in air and fuel as it moves downward, then it compresses that air and fuel as the piston moves upward. A spark plug fires, igniting the air/fuel mixture and forcing the piston downward. Finally the piston pushes out the exhaust gases on its way back up, before for the cycle repeats itself. In a V8 engine, this cycle is happening in 8 different cylinders, at different times. Instead of multiple cylinders firing at the same time, you want them to be spread out so that power delivery is smooth. For this Chevy V8, the firing or is 1, 8, 7, 2, 6, 5, 4, 3. With 8 cylinders, there is a cylinder firing for every 90 degrees of the crankshaft rotating, which means at any point in time, there are two cylinders on the power stroke. With regards to the valvetrain, the intake air comes from the top of the engine, and into the sides of the cylinder head. The exhaust flows to the sides of the engine, exiting the exhaust valves from the cylinder head. In this LS3 model, there is a single intake valve and a single exhaust valve, though it’s also common to see engines with two intake valves and two exhaust valves. The larger valve is the intake valve, and the smaller valve is the exhaust valve. The pushrod valvetrain gets its name from the metal pushrods which activate the rocker arms which open up the valves. The camshaft, located in the center of the V, has lobes on it which push the push rods up, opening the appropriate valves. For a full explanation of V8 engines, check out the video!
