Debugging sql server stored procedures

15:11
debugging in ssms debugging t-sql code t sql debug stored procedure sql server management studio debug stored procedure how to debug t sql debug in sql server management studio In this video we will discuss how to debug stored procedures in SQL Server. Setting up the Debugger in SSMS : If you have connected to SQL Server using (local) or . (period), and when you start the debugger you will get the following error Unable to start T-SQL Debugging. Could not connect to computer. To fix this error, use the computer name to connect to the SQL Server instead of using (local) or . For the examples in this video we will be using the following stored procedure. Create procedure spPrintEvenNumbers @Target int as Begin Declare @StartNumber int Set @StartNumber = 1 while(@StartNumber [ @Target) Begin If(@StartNumber%2 = 0) Begin Print @StartNumber End Set @StartNumber = @StartNumber + 1 End Print 'Finished printing even numbers till ' + RTRIM(@Target) End Connect to SQL Server using your computer name, and then execute the above code to create the stored procedure. At this point, open a New Query window. Copy and paste the following T-SQL code to execute the stored procedure. DECLARE @TargetNumber INT SET @TargetNumber = 10 EXECUTE spPrintEvenNumbers @TargetNumber Print 'Done' Starting the Debugger in SSMS : There are 2 ways to start the debugger 1. In SSMS, click on the Debug Menu and select Start Debugging 2. Use the keyboard shortcut ALT + F5 At this point you should have the debugger running. The line that is about to be executed is marked with an yellow arrow Step Over, Step into and Step Out in SSMS : You can find the keyboard shortcuts in the Debug menu in SSMS. Let us understand what Step Over, Step into and Step Out does when debugging the following piece of code 1. There is no difference when you STEP INTO (F11) or STEP OVER (F10) the code on LINE 2 2. On LINE 3, we are calling a Stored Procedure. On this statement if we press F10 (STEP OVER), it won't give us the opportunity to debug the stored procedure code. To be able to debug the stored procedure code you will have to STEP INTO it by pressing F11. 3. If the debugger is in the stored procedure, and you don't want to debug line by line with in that stored procedure, you can STEP OUT of it by pressing SHIFT + F11. When you do this, the debugger completes the execution of the stored procedure and waits on the next line in the main query, i.e on LINE 4 in this example. To stop debugging : There are 2 ways to stop debugging 1. In SSMS, click on the Debug Menu and select Stop Debugging 2. Use the keyboard shortcut SHIFT + F5 Show Next Statement shows the next statement that the debugger is about to execute. Run to Cursor command executes all the statements in a batch up to the current cursor position Locals Window in SSMS : Displays the current values of variables and parameters If you cannot see the locals window or if you have closed it and if you want to open it, you can do so using the following menu option. Locals window is only available if you are in DEBUG mode. Watch Window in SSMS : Just like Locals window, Watch window is used to watch the values of variables. You can add and remove variables from the watch window. To add a variable to the Watch Window, right click on the variable and select "Add Watch" option from the context menu. Call Stack Window in SSMS : Allows you to navigate up and down the call stack to see what values your application is storing at different levels. It's an invaluable tool for determining why your code is doing what it's doing. Immediate Window in SSMS : Very helpful during debugging to evaluate expressions, and print variable values. To clear immediate window type ]cls and press enter. Breakpoints in SSMS : There are 2 ways to set a breakpoint in SSMS. 1. By clicking on the grey margin on the left hand side in SSMS (to remove click again) 2. By pressing F9 (to remove press F9 again) Enable, Disable or Delete all breakpoints : There are 2 ways to Enable, Disable or Delete all breakpoints 1. From the Debug menu 2. From the Breakpoints window. To view Breakpoints window select Debug =] Windows =] Breakpoints or use the keyboard shortcut ALT + CTRL + B Conditional Breakpoint : Conditional Breakpoints are hit only when the specified condition is met. These are extremely useful when you have some kind of a loop and you want to break, only when the loop variable has a specific value (For example loop varible = 100). How to set a conditional break point in SSMS : 1. Right click on the Breakpoint and select Condition from the context menu 2. In the Breakpoint window specify the condition Text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/09/debugging-sql-server-stored-procedures.html Slides http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/09/debugging-sql-server-stored-procedures_28.html

This tutorial series is part of SQL expert exam certification training. if you are preparing for SQL certification you can use my tutorials. This SQL Tutorial is a part of free training. We can also say that SQL tables are kind of data structure which are used by database for efficient storage of data. To create a table in our database we use SQL CREATE TABLE command. SQL CREATE TABLE is a type of DATA DEFINITION LANGUAGE also known as DDL. To Create a table in your schema you will require CREATE TABLE system privilege. In our future videos we will see what are system and object privileges and how to grant them to a user. Today for this video we will be using Sample schema HR which already has all the necessary privileges. Ohk Let's see the syntax. CREATE TABLE table name ( column name1 Data-Type(size), column name2 Data-Type(size), ..... ); CREATE TABLE is an oracle reserved word or say an Oracle key word whereas There are 3 different ways of creating a table in Oracle database. Creating a table using Command Line Interface (CLI) in Oracle database For demonstrating how to create table in oracle database using CLI, I'll be using Command prompt. Thats how we create table using command prompt. you can check your table structure by DESCRIBE command for that just write DESC and your table name. Like this Another way of creating a table is by using Graphic user interface (GUI) in Oracle database To demonstrate how to create table using GUI we will use SQL developer. Lets open our SQL developer I am connected to HR schema if you do not know how to create a connection to database using SQL developer please watch my oracle database tutorial 4 that explains database connectivity using SQL developer and command prompt. Link for this video is in the description below. So lets create a table. Creating a table using SQL developer is very easy we do not have to fire any query here. Let's start First of all right click on your connection in which you want to create a table and choose schema browser. This will open a separate schema browser pane or you can expend your connection by clicking this + sign and then right click on table and choose New Table. However I prefer working with schema browser so let's skip to schema browser pane here from the first drop-down list you can choose connection name and in the second drop down list you can choose what database objects you want to work with we want to create a table thus I'll choose table and then click this arrow here and choose option for new table Ok we have created a table wizard first of all give a unique name to your table and add some column as well. For this, click the green plus button. Now we already have a column so give it some name. Also choose a datatype from the list and specify any size you can check this not null column if in case you want to make this a mandatory column you can also specify default value and constraint If you want to make this column a primary key you can click here In my future video i'll show you what are these constraints and different ways of applying them on a column in a table. for this video we will concentrate on create table only so when you are done with all your columns click ok Thats your table You can double click on your table here and can see its structure. Thats it

Quickstart: Getting Started with Oracle and .NET

08:56
New to Oracle and .NET development? This video gives you everything you need to know to get up and running quickly! We walk you through downloading and installing the needed Oracle software and then connecting in Visual Studio and creating a simple C# application. The video starts at the Oracle .NET Developer Technology Center website at http://otn.oracle.com/dotnet We then download the "ODTwithODAC" package, extract it and run the installer. Note that ODAC version 12 works with Oracle Database versions 10.2 or higher. After installing we connect in Server Explorer and learn about the connection dialog features, including the Filters tab which by default filters out additional schemas you may have privileges on. We connect to the database using the easy to use EZ connect format. Finally we create a simple C# application and connect to the database using ODP.NET Managed driver and a EZ Config connect string. Prerequisites: 1) Visual Studio 2012 or 2013 -- any edition except Express Edition. Visual Studio Community Edition is supported. 2) An Oracle Database to connect to. You will need to know the hostname, port number and service name of the database. During the video we install: Oracle Data Provider for .NET Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio Oracle .NET Samples Oracle .NET Documentation

sql server trigger execution order

06:43
sql server set trigger order sp_settriggerorder in sql server sp_settriggerorder example exec sp_settriggerorder In this video we will discuss how to set the execution order of triggers using sp_settriggerorder stored procedure. Server scoped triggers will always fire before any of the database scoped triggers. This execution order cannot be changed. In the example below, we have a database-scoped and a server-scoped trigger handling the same event (CREATE_TABLE). When you create a table, notice that server-scoped trigger is always fired before the database-scoped trigger. CREATE TRIGGER tr_DatabaseScopeTrigger ON DATABASE FOR CREATE_TABLE AS BEGIN Print 'Database Scope Trigger' END GO CREATE TRIGGER tr_ServerScopeTrigger ON ALL SERVER FOR CREATE_TABLE AS BEGIN Print 'Server Scope Trigger' END GO Using the sp_settriggerorder stored procedure, you can set the execution order of server-scoped or database-scoped triggers. sp_settriggerorder stored procedure has 4 parameters @triggername - Name of the trigger @order - value can be First, Last or None. When set to None, trigger is fired in random order @stmttype - SQL statement that fires the trigger. Can be INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE or any DDL event @namespace - Scope of the trigger. Value can be DATABASE, SERVER, or NULL EXEC sp_settriggerorder @triggername = 'tr_DatabaseScopeTrigger1', @order = 'none', @stmttype = 'CREATE_TABLE', @namespace = 'DATABASE' GO If you have a database-scoped and a server-scoped trigger handling the same event, and if you have set the execution order at both the levels. Here is the execution order of the triggers. 1. The server-scope trigger marked First 2. Other server-scope triggers 3. The server-scope trigger marked Last 4. The database-scope trigger marked First 5. Other database-scope triggers 6. Hardware trace - the ultimate Linux performance tuning tool, TracingSummit2014

34:08
Mathieu Poirier (Linaro), Al Grant (ARM) The talk is focused on how the hardware trace features on many SoCs can be practically used by ordinary software developers to investigate Linux performance issues. We'll describe ARM's CoreSight trace technology in enough detail to make the talk useful to people not familiar with hardware trace, but the talk will focus on the practical application of hardware trace to Linux - e.g. how trace can be set up from within the OS, how hardware instrumentation trace (STM) can be used to support existing Linux trace mechanisms such as ftrace, and how hardware-based instruction trace can be configured and visualized to solve problems out of reach of these software-based mechanisms. We'll look at some of the practical issues with using hardware trace and how these can be dealt with. The second part of the presentation will focus on the new framework proposed by Linaro to support Coresight and hardware assisted tracing in the Linux kernel. More specifically we will go over the solution, the current state of upstreaming and the challenges still ahead. If time permits we will see an example of HW trace decoding using the framework in the Linux kernel.

Lazy Saturday | The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Welcome to my lazy saturday livestream, one that's so lazy that I didn't even capitalize saturday. We are playing the legend of zelda ocarina of time. An amazing game that I love and hope you will as well! The player controls series protagonist Link from a third-person perspective, in a three-dimensional world. Link primarily fights with a sword and shield, but he can also use other weapons such as projectiles, bombs, and magic spells.[29]:22–25 The control scheme introduced techniques such as context-sensitive actions and a targeting system called "Z-targeting".[13][c] In combat, Z-targeting allows the player to have Link focus and latch onto an enemy or other objects.[29]:11–12[d] When using this technique, the camera follows the target and Link constantly faces it. Projectile attacks are automatically directed at the target and do not require manual aiming. Context-sensitive actions allow multiple tasks to be assigned to one button, simplifying the control scheme. The on-screen display shows what will happen when the button is pushed and changes depending on what the character is doing. For example, the same button that causes Link to push a box if he is standing next to it will have him climb on the box if the analog stick is pushed toward it.[13] Much of the game is spent in battle, but some parts require the use of stealth. Exploration is another important aspect of gameplay; the player may notice inaccessible areas and return later to find them explorable after obtaining a new item, such as the bomb, to blast through walls, or the hookshot, to reach distant places. The adult version of Link, armed with a sword and shield and wearing a green tunic, is fighting a bipedal wolf in front of the Forest Temple. Link's fairy companion, Navi, has turned yellow and hovers above the creature which is now surrounded by yellow crosshair-like arrows. When the player uses Z-targeting, the view shifts to a letterbox format and arrows indicate the targeted enemy. The player can then circle strafe around the enemy to keep their sight on them. Link collects items and weapons throughout the game, whose abilities allow him to access, navigate and complete dungeons to advance the story. Each dungeon is a dense, self-contained area in which Link solves puzzles and defeats enemies, and ends in a battle with the dungeon's boss, a powerful unique enemy. Each dungeon and its boss share a major item and common theme; for example Link must use the Fairy Bow to complete the Forest Temple and defeat its boss, Phantom Ganon, both of which involve trickery and misdirection. Defeat of a dungeon's boss grants Link a special item and advances the main quest. Ocarina of Time has several optional side-quests, or minor objectives, that the player can choose to complete or ignore. Completing the side-quests usually results in rewards, normally in the form of weapons or abilities. In one side-quest, Link trades items he cannot use himself among non-player characters. This trading sequence features ten items that must be delivered within their individual time limits, and ends with Link receiving an item he can use, the two-handed Biggoron Sword, the largest and strongest sword in the game. In another side-quest, Link can acquire a horse named Epona. This allows him to travel faster and jump over fences, but attacking while riding is restricted to arrows.[29]:38 In order to get Epona, Link must learn her song while he is a child. However, he is only able to ride her seven years later when he and Epona are both adults. Link can travel between two points in time. Part way through the main quest, Link claims the Master Sword in the Temple of Time; when Link takes the sword, he is sealed for seven years, until he becomes an adult, and therefore strong enough to wield the Master Sword. Young Link and adult Link have different abilities, and are restricted to certain items and weapons. For example, only adult Link can use the Fairy Bow and only young Link can fit through certain small passages. After completing the Forest Temple, Link can travel freely between the two time periods by replacing or taking the sword. This can grant Link access to new areas: for example, the player can plant magic plants throughout the world, and return seven years later to find the plant full-grown and able transport Link to secret places.

Commander Keen 5 - The Armageddon Machine: Secret Korath III Base (1991) [MS-DOS]

08:25
Commander Keen 5: The Armageddon Machine starts right after Keen 4 ends. Having previously freed the Council Members from their exile in the Shadowlands and having had them activate the Oracle (see Keen 4 Story), Keen learned that the Shikadi are in the Korath system and are planning to destroy the Milky Way with their Armageddon Machine, the Omegamatic. Keen rapidly heads to Korath III, where the Omegamatic is being constructed in orbit around the planet. Once there, he sneaks aboard the lower floors by docking with a ventilation duct near the main exhaust. Once onboard, Keen goes nuts, shooting all sorts of robots, defenses, and creatures, including the Shikadi. His aim is first to make it past the lower floors to the main deck, then to destroy each of the four machines protecting the main elevator shaft. (Each of which is protected by a defense tunnel.) This grants access to the second elevator, allowing Keen to use it to travel to the upper deck where he may then attack the core of the Omegamatic, the Quantum Explosion Dynamo. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nostalgic value for retrogamers in the Highest HD quality you can find on Youtube! (41:35) Wrap up (43:40) Questions and answers (45:30) ABSTRACT This talk describes our unique approach to constructing large, atomically precise molecules (called "Molecular Lego" or "spiroligomers") that could act as new therapeutics, new catalysts (molecules that make new chemical reactions happen faster) and ultimately to construct atomically precise molecular devices. Then I describe Clasp and CANDO, a new implementation of the powerful language Common Lisp. Clasp is a Common Lisp compiler that uses LLVM to generate fast machine code and it interoperates with C++. CANDO is a molecular design tool that uses Clasp as its programming language. Together I believe that these are the hardware (molecules) and the software (the CANDO/Clasp compiler) that will enable the development of sophisticated molecular nanotechnology. Clasp is available at: https://github.com/drmeister/clasp For more info see: https://chem.cst.temple.edu/directory/faculty/schafmeister/ More about Clasp Clasp is an implementation of Common Lisp that interoperates with C++ and uses LLVM as its backend. It is available at https://github.com/drmeister/clasp. The goal of Clasp is to become a performant Common Lisp that can use C++ libraries and interoperate with LLVM-based tools and languages. The first sophisticated C++ library with which Clasp interoperates is the Clang C/C++ compiler front end. Using the Clang library, Common Lisp programs can be written that parse and carry out static analysis and automatic refactoring of C/C++ code. This facility is used to automatically analyze the Clasp C++ source code and construct an interface to the Memory Pool System compacting garbage collector. The primary purpose of Clasp is to act as a performant language for scientific computing that will be used to design sophisticated new molecular devices, catalysts and therapeutic molecules based on our "Molecular Lego" technology. Clasp is a general programming language that will support many other applications. About the Speaker: Christian Schafmeister visited Google’s Cambridge, MA office to deliver the talk "Clasp: Common Lisp using LLVM and C++ for Molecular Metaprogramming”. Christian is Associate Professor of Chemistry at Temple University. Research projects within his group will use the tools of synthetic chemistry, molecular biology, and X-ray crystallography to develop a universal molecular scaffold that would allow the systematic design, construction, and investigation of macromolecules that display chemical functionality in three-dimensional space. A scaffold like this will allow the design and synthesis of new catalysts, molecular sensors, and ultimately molecular machines. His group will use synthetic chemistry to synthesize molecular building blocks that they will couple to each other through pairs of bonds to construct rigid macromolecules with diverse and programmable shapes. His group has developed computer software that allows the computer-aided design of these molecules to carry out specific functions.

Clasp: Common Lisp using LLVM and C++ for Designing Molecules

01:00:16
Google Tech Talk August 3, 2015 (click show more for more info) Presented by Christian Schafmeister ABSTRACT I will show you what you can do with CANDO/Clasp to design molecules. Here are some of the things that CANDO can do. - Automatic atom type assignment and partial charge estimation. - Force field energy calculations and fast energy minimization is built in (steepest descent, conjugate-gradients and truncated Newton-Raphson; the minimizers automatically switch from one approach to the other as you get closer to the energy minimum). - The energy function has a chiral restraint, and several other restraint functions built in. You can also add new energy terms and analytical first and second derivatives will be automatically generated and lowered to efficient code for energy minimizations. - It builds three-dimensional models of molecules using geometric construction (is that a term?) from a library of fragments (like rotamers). - Expose and drive OpenMM or Amber or any other molecular dynamics package written in C++, C or Fortran DIRECTLY from CANDO. - It has a built in compiled scripting language (Common Lisp) that generates LLVM-IR and native code that interoperates with C++. This is the big deal, it’s not just a scripting language. It will be fast enough that you can write ANYTHING that the chemistry problem needs in Common Lisp or in C++/C/Fortran and hook it in. - Builtin Message Passing Interface (MPI) library for running on hundreds of thousands of CPUs. - A built in serialization facility to save and load any type of object built within CANDO. Molecules, force fields, parameter files etc. Everything, including code, can be written to files, loaded or sent between processors via MPI. - Built in SMARTS for doing chem-informatics and pattern recognition on molecules. - It reads Chemdraw files, so you can sketch molecules and it will build 3D models from them. If you are doing computational drug screening, then you can do everything in CANDO. This is what I designed CANDO for: Molecular Lego represent an infinite universe of highly pre-organized molecules with programmable shapes and functional group display that are all synthetically accessible. CANDO is the engine that will rapidly build starting molecules, assign atom types and charges and then do conformational searching, docking, scoring and analysis to identify functional molecules. By tightly coupling all of these capabilities as part of a compiled language it will enable molecular design like it has never been done before. CANDO is general, it can work with any kind of molecule.

Time Paradoxes and You - A Jurassic Park (Genesis) PSA

01:29
The following is a Public Service Announcement from InGen, warning about the dangerous of cloning mishaps that end in time paradoxes, involving you and an alternate self. Follow these instructions, and we shall all have a safer and paradox-disaster-free tomorrow! (In all seriousness now, this is a compilation of things that can happen when you interact with Grant, as Grant. You can force him to play on Raptor-only levels using the debug menu. The effects can be very powerful, as you'll see in the video! One of the effects, the one that turns the screen red, locks the game, and it doesn't accept input anywhere (Gens mark all frames afterwards as lag frames, colored red on the counter). But for some weird reason, it DOES accept input (normal frames, colored white in Gens' counter) for a couple of frames, after 3 or so seconds have passed. Bizarre.)
