Best Practices in Java Enterprise Monitoring

46:37
As applications become more service-oriented, interactions within a distributed enterprise application landscape add to the complexity of monitoring and troubleshooting applications. Collaboration of multiple monitoring and logging tools is required to achieve active and passive application monitoring and troubleshooting. To effectively manage such an infrastructure, it is important to monitor each and every application tier. This presentation covers some of the best practices in terms of what to monitor in different types of application environments and how to select the right monitoring tools to achieve real-time, nonintrusive, metrics-driven monitoring that can be utilized for both active and passive monitoring and troubleshooting. DevOps Powered by Application Performance Monitoring in Oracle Management Cloud

43:26
Michel Schildmeijer, Solutions Architect and Oracle ACE, Qualogy Holding B.V. DevOps teams work closely together on building, deploying, and managing applications from dev to production environments. Usually the early focus is on turning business functionality into technical solutions. To know how applications behave under heavy load when they’re live in production is always somewhere behind. The APM module of Oracle Management Cloud can be used in a DevOps team to detect bottlenecks even in early coding stages so the team knows that the release will be stable and performant when it runs in production. This session explains how to embed the module into DevOps methodologies.

Oracle Enterprise Manager: Advanced Threshold Management

16:34
Advanced Thresholds allow you to define and manage alert thresholds that are either adaptive (self-adjusting) or time-based (static). There are monitoring situations in which different workloads for a target occur at regular (expected) intervals. Under these conditions, a static alert threshold would prove to be inaccurate. For example, the accurate alert thresholds for a database performing Online Transaction Process (OLTP) during the day and batch processing at night would be different. Similarly, database workloads can change based purely on different time periods, such as weekday versus weekend. In both these situations, fixed, static values for thresholds might result in false alert reporting. See Enterprise manager online documentation for more information: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E73210_01/EMADM/GUID-02356AB5-4B03-46AE-8354-2E9517A8F439.htm#EMADM15123 ================================= To improve the video quality, click the gear icon and set the Quality to 1080p/720p HD.
