In this video we are going to see how to install and configure Oracle Database 19c on Oracle Linux 7.6 using Vagrant 2.2 which will be configured as Virtual Machine running in VirtualBox 6.0. Requirements: Oracle VirtualBox 6.0, Vagrant 2.2, Git and SQL Develeoper already installed and LINUX.X64_193000_db_home zip archive which contains Oracle database 19c Software already downloaded from the Oracle Website. Installation Method: Online, This requires internet connection to download the vagrant configuration files from github and Oracle Linux 7.6 OS will be downloaded and installed as Virtual Machine using Vagrant. So, The main goal of this Vagrant Provisioned Oracle Database Virtual Machine is to reduce the install and configuration time and increase the productivity for development. At the end of this tutorial we can learn following things. 1. How to install and configure vagrant in Windows and add vagrant bin directory to environment variable. 2. Checkout the vagrant boxes configuration files and copy the oracle database 19c software zip archive to the directory. 3. Understand the vagrant configuration file and modify the memory to 4 GB. 4. After Database 19c Creation, we try to login in SQL Plus with auto generated password and next change the SYS,SYSTEM and PDBADMIN passwords. 6. how to login into Oracle Enterprise Manager. 7. Create Common user called c##scott and assign some privileges to that user. Create table and insert records. 8. How to change the user vagrant's password and login to the Virtual Machine directly. 9. How to connect to Oracle Database 19c from SQL Developer 19.1 with Common user c##scott. 10. How to connect to Oracle Database 19c from SQL Developer 19.1 with Pluggable database user PDBADMIN. Important Note: Ports 1521 and 5500 is forwared automatically to the host machine (Windows) so we can access the database direclty from Windows. Do not change any configuration files unless you are an expert in vagrant and Oracle since this is automated install and configuration. This video will be really useful for the Beginners and Developers who try to learn SQL and PL/SQL in 19c Database. Oracle VMBox VMs access from your local network
How to Oracle VMBox VMs access from your local network: Why: VM created in Oracle VMBox can not be accessed from your local network. It is because the virtual machine created under VM will have their own sub netmask something like 10.2.0.x Your home computer network will be in different network segments then you will not be able to access directly from your computer using ssh/telnet. In order to access that you can add VM box machine also into your network How: To add the VMBox machine into your local network. You should add an another virtual network adapter in VM and bridge it to your home computer network 1. Open Oracle VM Box 2. Right click on VM 3. Select Settings. 4. choose Network 5. Now you can see only Adapter 1 is checked. 6. Click on Adapter 2 Tab. Check Enable Network Adapter. 7. Attached to : choose Bridge Network from Drop Down 8. Name : choose your home computer Network Adapter 9. Press OK to save Now Start the virtual machine and you can see two adapters enabled and IP assigned. First adapter with VMBox network segment and Second adapter with your home computer network IP like below. If you want to see how it can be I created a video and posted in You Tube subscribe and watch it https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcA0dQDxgTwfM1bNMP3hHBA enjoy!!!

Vagrant Tutorial - Running a VM For Your Local Development Environment
Vagrant and VM's can RADICALLY shape your development workflow. Instead of every developer working on their own local server with their own configuration, you can configure a portable local environment that exactly mirrors your staging and production environments. Now developers can spin up this environment on their machine and work completely locally without having to change their machine configuration to accommodate the project they're working on. Also, each project they work on can have it's own VM running it's own configuration that they can spin up. Also, Vagrant provides an easy-to-destroy environment to practice your Linux server administration skills! Creating a Windows 10 Virtual Machine in Azure
Azure is Microsoft's cloud platform and, as Microsoft develops Windows, Azure allows you to create and connect to virtual machines that run the consumer version of Windows and Windows Server. This video is a walkthrough for setting up a Windows 10 Pro VM and connecting to it via the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP). Why would you need to this? A couple of reasons: 1. You need to test software written for Windows-based systems, but you are developing on a non-Windows machine (like macOS). 2. You need automated tests to run on Windows-based system when you check in code, for example. 3. You intend to run Windows-based cloud workloads (like with IIS and Microsoft SQL Server) for your business or your customers. The presenter (Adam Cook) typically uses Azure Windows-based VMs to walkthrough the installation of workshop prerequisite software since he usually uses macOS as his primary development machine. To learn more about Azure: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/ Azure offers a free credits for new customers: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/free/ For macOS users that need the RDP client: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/microsoft-remote-desktop/id1295203466?mt=12 Disclosure: The SME Virtual Network is not affiliated with Microsoft or Microsoft Azure. SQL Monitoring Hacking Session
This is a free form hacking session that demonstrates some less known techniques and findings of Oracle SQL Monitoring reports and answers some low level questions about when does SQL Monitoring kick in automatically. As this was an unstructured hacking session, I ended up troubleshooting my own demos a couple of times as well :-) Related links: Slides: https://blog.tanelpoder.com/2015/10/29/sql-monitoring-in-oracle-database-12c/ An great SQL Monitoring usage article by Maria Colgan: https://sqlmaria.com/2017/08/01/getting-the-most-out-of-oracle-sql-monitor/ ASH hacking session: https://blog.tanelpoder.com/posts/oracle-sql-monitoring-advanced-ash-usage-hacking-session/ Online Training: https://blog.tanelpoder.com/seminars/

Containers and VMs and Clouds: Oh My. - Wild Card Track
As containers move from the developer's workstation into production environments there are many questions about how they fit into a company's existing infrastructure. Should a workload run in a VM or in a container? Should that container run on physical or virtual? In the data center or in the cloud? The reality is that there is no "right" answer, just a series of questions that admins should be asking as they look to figure out where to run their application workloads. In this talk we'll take a look at the key differences between containers and VMs. From there we'll discuss the coexistence of VMs and containers, and finally we'll take a look at key factors to consider when making the decision where to run your applications. Throughout the presentation we'll highlight real world customers, their problems, and their ultimate deployment decisions.

How to create Virtual Machine in Oracle VM VirtualBox Maneger and connect to Putty
The development of Linux is one of the most prominent examples of free and open-source software collaboration. The underlying source code may be used, modified and distributed‍—‌commercially or non-commercially‍—‌by anyone under the terms of its respective licenses, such as the GNU General Public License. Typically, Linux is packaged in a form known as a Linux distribution (or distro for short) for both desktop and server use. Some of the most popular mainstream Linux distributions are Arch Linux, CentOS, Debian, Fedora, Gentoo Linux, Linux Mint, Mageia, openSUSE and Ubuntu, together with commercial distributions such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server. Distributions include the Linux kernel, supporting utilities and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project, and usually a large amount of application software to fulfil the distribution's intended use.
