TOKYO TRIP 🇯🇵 - Day 1 - Traveling to Tokyo, AirBNB house, Amazing Ramen, and a Japanese Pharmacy

20:43
We were in Tokyo for 7 days, and vlogged our whole trip! This is Day 1, where we journey from Narita Airport to our AirBNB house in western Tokyo. It was my first time being back in Japan, my home country, in 17 years! For our first day, Marie and I were awake for about 21 hour straight. We spent many hours commuting... and were finally glad to check into our AirBNB in Hounancho, a quick 15 minute trip west of Shinjuku Station. Once we dropped off our bags, we just wanted to get out and eat some real Japanese food, and what's better than some authentic Japanese ramen! To answer many questions, no, I'm not Japanese. I am Korean-American. My mother is from Seoul. My father is from Chicago. I was born and raised in Japan, and grew up on U.S. Navy bases there. My father was in the U.S. Navy for 30 years, which makes me a certified Navy brat. ^^ To be specific, I was born in Okinawa, lived in Yokosuka city (elementary & middle school), and Sasebo city (high school). I left in 1999 after finishing high school... 25 Things To Do in Tokyo, Japan (Watch This Before You Go)

18:20
Get info about things to do, where to stay, and the best food to eat on your visit to Tokyo, Japan. Here's the guide: https://migrationology.com/tokyo-travel-guide-for-food-lovers/ Tokyo (東京), Japan, is one of the world's greatest cities, and there's so much to do and see when you visit. From temples and shrines, to gardens and museums, you'll never run out of attractions. Out of all the things you could do, I've chosen a top 25 list for this awesome city (and just so you know food is my first choice in Tokyo)! 1. Ameya-Yokochō (アメヤ横丁) - A giant open air market that offers clothes, cosmetics, food, and restaurants and bars. 2. Meiji Shrine (明治神宮) - This Shinto shrine, surrounded by beautiful forest, is extremely significant. 3. Ryogoku Kokugikan (両国国技館) - Even if it's not fight season, you can go to the free sumo museum and eat sumo chankonabe. 4. Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden (新宿御苑) - The garden is a beautiful attraction in Tokyo, with French gardens, Japanese gardens, and a green house. 5. Ginza (銀座) / Yurakucho (有楽町) - Ginza is a great area of town for upscale shopping and dining, while Yurakucho is famous for Izakaya bars and restaurants under the railroad track. 6. Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building (東京都庁舎) - There are a lot of things to do in Tokyo where you have to pay, but here, you can go to the 45th floor for free. 7. Tsukiji Market (築地市場) - One of the most famous attractions in all of Tokyo is the Tsukiji Market (築地市場), the biggest seafood market in the world. 8. Shibuya (渋谷区) - With the busiest intersection in the world, Shibuya (渋谷区) is also home to shopping and restaurant. 9. Sumida River (隅田川) - At Tokyo's Sumida River, you can either just walk around the park and enjoy the riverside views, or you can take the Tokyo Cruise in a boat. 10. Tokyo Imperial Palace (皇居) - This is the home of the emperor of Japan. To enter the grounds, you have to make a tour booking on the official website 11. Ueno Park (上野公園), Tokyo National Museum (東京国立博物館) - Ueno Park is a huge public park in Tokyo with shrines, gardens and a number of museums. 12. Tokyo Skytree (東京スカイツリー) - They call it Tokyo's biggest attractions. It's a huge communications tower with various viewing decks and galleries. 13. Harajuku (原宿), Takeshita Street (竹下通り) - Famous for its street market and cosplay that takes place, this is a place in the city to see and be seen. 14. Senso-ji (金龍山浅草寺) - Visiting this temple is one of the top things to do in Tokyo, frequented by both tourists and religious pilgrims. It's the oldest temple in Tokyo. 15. Edo-Tokyo Museum (江戸東京博物館) - It looks a little like a UFO, but it's one of Tokyo's main museums, that aims to preserve the history of the city. 16. Fine Dining - Let's just face it, Tokyo is one of the best cities in the world for high class dining - atmosphere, presentation, food, it's all just stunning! 17. Akihabara Electric Town (秋葉原電気街) - If you love electronics and gaming, you're going to love the area of Akihabara. You'll also find those infamous maid cafes here. 18. Tokyo Stock Exchange (東京証券取引所) - Another free attraction in Tokyo is to be a guest at the stock exchange where you can see the Japanese Nikkei being traded. 19. Roppongi (六本木) - Home to the Mori Art Museum and a hotspot for nightlife in the city, Roppongi is an exciting area of town. 20. Odaiba (お台場) - This area of Tokyo is full of things to do like Legoland, and Palette Town, an indoor amusement park. It's also known as Tokyo's entertainment island. 21. Yoyogi Park (代々木公園) - Located next to Meiji Shrine, and just a short distance from Harajuku and Shinjuku, this park is popular for exercise and dance. 22. Nezu (根津), Yanaka (谷中 (台東区) - Tokyo is a truly modern city, but there are a couple places like Nezu and Yanaka that have held strong to their traditional and cultural roots. 23. Onsen (温泉) - You've got to strip down naked before you can enter a Japanese public bath. 24. Mount Takao (高尾山) - Just 50 km from central Tokyo, this mountain is popular for climbing and is a sacred religious mountains. Makes a good day trip from Tokyo. 25. Food - Finally, food is the reason I visited Japan, and I think eating is by all means one of the best things to do in Tokyo. Food is everywhere, and not only does it taste amazing, but the care that goes into Japanese cuisine is incredible. Thank you very much for watching this video that includes some of the best things to do in Tokyo. I hope it will give you inspiration to visit and eat through this amazing city. We then went to Meiji Jingu, the shrine to the deified spirits of Emperor Meiji and his wife, Empress Shoken. We hung a good luck wish around an ancient tree. Afterwards we wandered into Harajuku, a quirky fashion district where it's full of color, weirdness, and famous Harajuku crepes. After awhile, we made our way into Shibuya and visited the famous Shibuya crosswalk, which is known as the busiest crosswalk in the world! We got really hungry and walked through a love hotel district in Shibuya to the Suzume No Oyado restaurant, a okonomiyaki restaurant made from a converted, historic Geisha brothel. JAPAN: 1 DAY IN HAKONE - TRIP & ITINERARY

07:54
MT. FUJI || LAKE ASHI || HOT SPRINGS/ONSEN || RYOKAN Unlike Tokyo, Hakone is quiet and far from the hustle and bustle of the city. Hakone is known for its beautiful scenery, natural hot springs (onsen), and soba noodles. We took the Romancecar from Shinjuku to Hakone-Yumoto which took 85 mins. Once there, we had a quick lunch in Gora, then took the cable car to Souzan station, and the ropeway to reach Owakudani. Owakudani is a volcanic valley with active sulfur. This is where Hakone got its source of natural hot spring - which has many benefits. Hakone is very popular during the winter as people fill up the onsen to relax and soak in. You will also get a beautiful view of Mt. Fuji in Owakudani. Feel even closer to Mt. Fuji during the ropeway ride to Togendai- where we took the cruise across lake Ashi. We wanted to visit the Hakone Checkpoint and the Hakone Shrine but we got lost and we needed to eat. FYI all restaurants close at 5pm here so don't forget to grab a bite before then. We then made our way to our ryokan at Mount View Hakone. Love this place! Accommodation is around $300/night but this is the average ryokan price in Hakone. There are cheaper ones of course, with smaller/shared rooms and shared toilet which we didn't want. Our room was very big (in comparison to Japanese standard), and we can book a private onsen- which we love! We had the private onsen at night after a day of non-stop activity. It was heavenly! They also had a public onsen (separate for male and female) which we did the next morning. Being naked in front of strangers isn't as bad as we thought! We had a lovely breakfast then made our way to Kyoto. Stay tuned for our next adventure!! ▶︎For more info on planning your trip: http://www.odakyu.jp/english/course/ ▶︎Book a room at Mount View Hakone (highly recommended! I’m working through it though, just need to settle in to the routine. ooooof (but i love it, i’m learning so much already) btw it looked expensive but we rented the car for 7000 yen ($70) for the day (from the site anyca)! Japan - Day Trip to Hakone (1080p HD) | Magda T

05:03
DAY TRIP TO HAKONE: Hakone is well known for being an Onsen (hot spring) haven in Japan. It’s a short train journey away from Tokyo so it makes a perfect destination for a day trip. When visiting an onsen, you need to follow a specific etiquette – in majority of them, no clothes or tattoos are allowed! If you don’t feel comfortable being naked, Hakone Kowakien Yunessun is a ‘swimsuit wearing’ onsen and some of them permit band-aids over tattoos. As we only had one day, we skipped the onsen experience but there is always another time! GETTING THERE FROM TOKYO: • Using HAKONE FREE PASS (2 days pass for Y5.140) can be purchased from ticket vending machines at all Odakyu line stations and also at Shinjuku station West Exit 1F at Odakyu Sightseeing Service centre. • Take Odakyu Railway to Odawara and change there to Hakone Tozan Train – price of the return ticket is included into the Hakone Free Pass which also covers all the transport in the Hakone area and discounted prices on entry fees to majority of the attractions & restaurants • From Shinjuku station to Hakone-Yumoto on the ODAKYU ROMANCE CAR (express train 75 mins) with reserved seats but need to buy a supplementary ticket for Y1.090 to addition to regular train tickets - can be purchased at the same places as the pass & also online OUR ITINERARY: 📍Tokyo Shinjuku to Hakone-Yumoto on the Odakyu Romance Car 📍Taking Hakone Tozan Railway at Hakone-Yumoto to Chokoku-no-mori (for better views seat on the left hand side) 📍Hakone Open Air Museum (make sure to have mini ‘onsen’ foot bath there) 📍Taking Hakone Tozan Cable Car from Gora to Sounzan Station - it was a short 5-10 mins walk from the museum to Gora – if you are not short of time you can visit the Hakone Gora Park (free access with the pass) 📍Taking the cable car (Hakone Ropeway) from Sounzan to Owakudani (only 9 minute ride) 📍The Great Boiling Valley at Owakudani – explore the volcanic valley up in the mountain with active sulphur springs and try their signature black eggs (kuro-tamago). Legend holds that eating one of these eggs can extend your life by 7 years! 📍Take the Hakone Ropeway to Togendai (when we visited that part of the ropeway was under construction and replacement busses were running instead) 📍Pirate ship cruise across Lake Ashi from Togendai (free with the Hakone Pass) - from Togendai walk down to the edge of the lake to the cruise pier (timetable can be found here https://www.hakone-kankosen.co.jp/foreign/en/timesheet/ ) - great views of the Kuzuryu & Hakone Shrines. You can disembark the ship at Hakone-machi or Moto-Hakone. 1. Hakone-machi: - more places to eat - visit The Hakone Checkpoint museum - go to Onshihakone Park – great spot to see Mt. Fuji (if the weather permits) - walk Old Tokaido Road to Moto-Hakone (old cedar road which historically connected Tokyo to Kyoto) 2. Moto-Hakone: - visit Hakone Shrine (magical walkway with lanterns) 📍Take Hakone Tozan Bus from Moto-Hakone bus terminal to Hakone-Yumoto or Odawara (every 30 mins takes 30-40mins) PLACES TO EAT: o Curry at Fujiya Hotel o Hatsuhana Soba Shinkan closes at 7pm o Hakone Akatsukian o Yubadon Naokichi - authentic Japanese restaurant closes at 7pm o Premium Shop and Salon de Thé Rosage (Hotel de Yama) o Togendai View Restaurant o Otome-toge Fujimi Chaya Tea House o Gotemba Mikuriya Soba (soba noodles made in Gotemba city) and local Gotemba milk ice cream o Amazake Chaya - traditional tea house (try amazake - warm sweet rice drink) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you very much for watching! Things to do in Yokohama | Day Trip Travel Guide

06:57
We took a day trip from Tokyo to visit the beautiful city of Yokohama for a food adventure. We checked out the Kirin Brewery, the Cup Noodle Museum and the Ramen Museum. The Kirin Brewery tour is free and you get to learn all about how Kirin Beer is made. There is also an opportunity to sample the different beers available The Cupnoodle museum was a lot of fun. You get to learn about the history of instant ramen, and cup noodles and learn about the life of Momofuku Ando. You also get to make your own cup noodle Our last stop was the Ramen Museum. The museum is decorated to look like a city block from 1958, the year instant ramen was invented. We sampled half sized ramen from three different and delicious places. The waterfront also very beautiful place to spend an afternoon. The walkway is lined with wonderful Sakura trees and you get a nice view of the city. Hakone Travel Guide: Day Trip from Tokyo using the Hakone Free Pass | The Travel Intern

01:30
Check out our Hakone Travel Guide: https://thetravelintern.com/hakone-day-trip-from-tokyo-hakone-free-pass/ Being in Hakone felt a lot like exploring Disneyland; think pirate ships, old trains that climb mountains and cable ropeways that hover over misty volcanic valleys. The diversity of landscape almost felt almost as though everything was carefully planned and sectioned out into the different worlds like in Disneyland. Hakone to many locals is also a favourite weekend getaway; an onsen town with great views of Mount Fuji as well as old hiking paths with lined with 400 year old cedar trees. If that sounds like your kind of getaway — even if it’s just a quick detour from Tokyo — here’s our guide to a fuss-free day trip in Hakone. Get your Hakone Free Pass: http://bit.ly/2wwhxF8 0:14 - Hakone Jinjo Shrine 0:19 - Hakone Shrine & Torri of Peace One of the most iconic symbols of Hakone is the grand Torii gate that sits on the edge of Lake Ashinoko. Probably more famous than the shrine itself as it takes a bit of climbing to get to. 0:23 - Hakone Tozan Bus 0:26 - hakone Checkpoint 0:35 - Ancient Cedar Avenue One of the best preserved parts of old Hakone. A 500m path lined with tall cedar trees used during the Edo period where travellers mainly walked on foot between Tokyo and Kyoto. 0:45 - Hakone Sightseeing Cruise 0:49 - Lake Ashinoko Heart of Hakone and one of the 5 famous lakes in the Fuji-izu region. You might even see Mount Fuji on a clear day. 0:54 - Hakone Ropeway Scenic ropeway towards Owakudani 1:00 - Owakudani Also known as the Valley of Hell with the volcanic gasses and ponds created during the eruption of Mount Hakone. 1:13 - Hakone Tozan Cable Car 1:18 - Odawara Castle 15th century castle — a famous spot for its cherry blossoms in late March to April. Can Kyoto be a day trip from Tokyo?

34:34
The answer is: yes My opinion: don’t do it! You’ll ruin the cultural experience. Quit your job, stay longer do whatever you have to do to stretch it out for 3 days in Kyoto. Kyoto is not a city of only temples and shrines. It’s a city filled with things beyond a simple snapshot. Like FOOD!! Like ART! Like ... FOOD! (Did I saw that already?) What route did I walk? https://goo.gl/maps/hNWfhviWDEJ2

How to Use the Tokyo Subway | JAPAN TRAVEL GUIDE

12:27
In this video, I show you everything you need to know in order to use the Tokyo Metro System effectively. It can be complex and intimidating if it's your first time in Tokyo, so hopefully this video will simplify it for you, from buying tickets to finding your destination. Don't be scared of Tokyo Subway! It's probably one of the world's most efficient transportation systems, and can get you anywhere! This is the first video of my Japan Guide series, so stay tuned for more tips and tricks for traveling/moving to Tokyo, Japan! I have people asking how to calculate their fare for a specific trip, you can use Google Maps which tells you the single ticket fare, so you will pay 5-10Yen less if you are using an IC card. You can also use Tokyo Metro's calculator which tells you all different fares but only available for Tokyo Metro lines (so excluding TOEI/JR lines): http://www.tokyometro.jp/en/ticket/search/index.php EXTRA INFO YOU MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN: Links to download apps (don't worry, not sponsored!) Google Maps (you can also use the web version): goo.gl/BsX25s Tokyo Subway: goo.gl/vyqi3M Day Pass Prices (prices as of the day this video was upload Tokyo-Metro-Only 24h Pass - 600 Yen Tokyo Metro & Toei 1-day Pass - 1000 Yen Everything 1-day Pass - 1590 Yen TOURIST-ONLY Tokyo Metro & Toei Passes - 800 Yen for 24h, 1200 Yen for 48h & 1500 Yen for 72h (available for purchase at Haneda & Narita Airports, select BIC CAMERA stores, travel agencies, etc. More about this pass: https://goo.gl/HWJLps) TIPS FOR SAVING $$$ 1. Stick to Tokyo Metro lines only - these 9 lines should get you to all touristic destinations (some may require slightly longer transit time, but it won't be much longer than the more expensive route) 2. Avoid buses if you are just traveling - they are expensive and doesn't provide free transfer to metro 3. Buy a combo pass if you arrive from Narita or Haneda Airport, they can save you a lot of money. More info: https://goo.gl/YxiVpo 4. Group together sights that can only be accessed by subway within the time period limited by the 24h/48h/72h metro pass. Go to sights that are accessible by foot on other days 😺😺😺 Don't forget to subscribe to see more from me!!! 😺😺😺 !!! FOLLOW ME for daily updates !!! Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/tokiyuyu/

Kawagoe Tour: Travel to Little Edo in Saitama, Japan // Tokyo Day Trip Idea

13:08
► Robot Restaurant: http://bit.ly/1TwkNIS ► Harajuku Tour: http://bit.ly/1RTQDhz Welcome to Kawagoe in Saitama, Japan. This old-timey town is steeped in history, earning it the buckwild nickname of little Edo. It's a mighty fine Tokyo day trip if you ask me. I mean, with its temples, shrines, kurazukuri warehouse architecture, and sweet potato snacks poppin' off left and right, this town's a Far-East fiesta of epic proportions. Occasionally I use the Zoom H1 for audio if I want to record audio in-field. As for the Pixi tripod, I sometimes use it while filming food, but most of the time I use it to mount my Samson Go Mic on a desk for voiceovers (in conjunction with the other accessories, listed below). MODULAR COMPONENTS I USE: Smatree SmaPole S3 (hollow pole only) ► http://amzn.to/2sLI7ee Joby Action Arm (arm only) ► http://amzn.to/2toE0CN Joby Hand Grip (hand grip only) ► http://amzn.to/2sSe3y0 Joby Hub Adapter ► http://amzn.to/2toDJ2E EXPLANATION: Because I'm often traveling, I prefer to have the lightest, smallest, most versatile components available. Therefore, I use bits and pieces from the above gear sets, and these bits and pieces can be connected together in a huge variety of ways. For example, they can be made into a long selfie stick, they can be mounted to my tripod to make it extra-tall, and they can be used with my tripod and Go Mic to position the microphone directly in front of my face while I'm recording voiceovers at a desk. MICROPHONE ACCESSORIES I USE: Foam Mic Cover ► http://amzn.to/2sSagRo Pop Filter ► http://amzn.to/2sSJSHf EXPLANATION: To improve sound quality for voiceovers, I place a mic cover on the Samson Go Mic, then use an elastic band to hang the pop filter on top. This is not the best audio protection available, but it is the most minimalistic and space-efficient gear for traveling. The mic cover can also be used on the rare occasion that I record audio with the Zoom H1. GEAR I USE FOR CHARGING ON-THE-GO: Anker Mini PowerBank ► http://amzn.to/2sHy8HZ Silicone Cables ► http://amzn.to/2tgXf1i Adapter for Micro to Mini ► http://amzn.to/2sEhlVm Adapter for Micro to Lightning ► http://amzn.to/2sMBGbd EXPLANATION: Anker's lipstick-sized powerbanks are small yet powerful. I travel with two, so that if one has a low charge, I can charge it in my hotel while I'm out and about with the other powerbank. Using the powerbank in conjunction with the short, durable silicone cables and micro/mini/lightning adapters means I can charge just about any device while on-the-go. * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * Disclaimer: Links I have posted to Amazon.com are affiliate links. Tokyo Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia

https://www.expedia.com/Tokyo.d179900.Destination-Travel-Guides Welcome to Tokyo, the capital of Japan and the epitome of the word “megacity.” In this vast metropolis, ancient traditions blend with futuristic buildings, and your Tokyo sightseeing will take you to representations of each. Pay your respects at temples set in forested hillsides, then flex your credit card in one of the shopping districts, before sitting down to a five-star meal…all in one day. Your Tokyo tour begins with the subway and train system, which will take you all over this sprawling city. Tokyo is home to some 35 million people, many of which you’ll meet as its public transit carries you throughout its many neighborhoods. Make a stop in Asakusa, a temple district nestled in leafy trees with skyscrapers towering in the background. There you’ll visit Nakamisi Dori, a street loaded with food vendors and religious charms. Get to know the city a little better in the Harajuku district, home to cutting-edge fashion, a thriving, youth-centered culture, and the famous Yoyogi Park. The park stands out in stern contrast to the rest of the neighborhood; this sprawling, 134-acre green space is where locals slow down after a frenzied week of work and play. As night falls, make your way to Shinjuku. Many of Tokyo’s premier restaurants and pubs span Shinjuku’s streets, and you can indulge in succulent 5-star meals or sample with fast food from local vendors. Watch a movie, do some karaoke, and linger with fellow travelers and friendly locals alike. What was your favorite part of Tokyo? A One-Day Trip from Tokyo to Hakone - by TAXI 🚕💨

04:01
Did you know that you can actually use a taxi for sightseeing? My friends and I hired a taxi and went on a trip from Tokyo to Hakone – a beautiful touristic location near Mt. Fuji! In the morning, one of km Taxi’s cabs will pick you up at your hotel in Tokyo at your preferred time. When booking the "Japanese Culture Experience Tour in Hakone" you can actually choose where you want to go within the Tokyo and Hakone area. It is also possible to do some sightseeing in Tokyo first – if it’s within the 8 hours of your trip. We decided to go to some tourist attractions in Tokyo: Zojoji Temple, Tokyo Tower, and Atago Shrine. After a great morning in Tokyo, we left for Hakone! After arriving at Lake Ashinoko in Hakone, we changed into a kimono (you have to pay an extra 3.000yen). We were able to shoot beautiful photos in Hakone wearing a kimono – a once in a lifetime experience – which is highly recommended! At Hakone, we visited Hakone Sekisho (a former toll gate), Hakone Shrine and the Hakone Venetian Glass Museum. For lunch, we visited a delicious bakery cafe overlooking beautiful Lake Ashinoko. Hakone has a lot to offer. The fee for the trip includes 10 instant photos as a service – and it’s very hard to choose were to actually take them… The driver was not only driving but also guided us in English. He was a very polite and friendly gentleman. It is surprisingly hard to get in a car when wearing a kimono. Our driver had a small footstool prepared to help us get inside. That was very nice – and very Japanese! The taxi fare for the one-day trip is fixed, meaning: the more people join, the cheaper it becomes for everyone. (Up to 6 people can go on this trip) The wonderful thing about this plan is that it is very relaxing. You don’t have to worry about trains and the time. It is perfect for families with children and for people with a handicap. We were able to spend a stress-free time at Tokyo and Hakone and made a lot of great memories. How about going on a fantastic one-day Tokyo- Hakone trip the next time you visit Tokyo? You’ll have a great time for sure! Japan Travel Blog: Hakone Day Trip (From Tokyo to Hakone)

03:15
Visiting Tokyo? You don't have to restrict your holiday to just within the city, you can also take a day trip to Hakone from Tokyo via Train. Make your way to Odakyu and purchase your tickets from the Odakyu Sightseeing Service Center. The tickets would include whatever you need for the entire day. To get to Hakone, you would have to take the train and change to an uphill tram, before changing to the Hakone Tozan Cablecar which 1st stop would be at Mt Hakone. You would be able to take pictures with this active volcano, and also try their famous black eggs. Once done, hop back onto the cable car which would take you past a few stops including one that gives you a great view of Mt Fuiji on a good day. Continue on the cablecar till the end to reach the cruise center, where you would board thie gigantic cruise ship which would take you across lake ashi. Take a short stroll and embrace the beauty of the beautiful sakura trees found along the river. A short 15mins walk and you would find yourself at Hakone shrine. Drink from their famous 9 headed dragon basin, visit the fertility tree and also take pictures at the huge tori gate by the lake. Hi everyone! Today we took a day trip to Nikko! Nikko is a world heritage site, famous for a number of shrines dedicated to the famous shogun leader, Tokugawa Ieyasu and his grandson. There's also a beautiful lake nearby with a waterfall, mountain views and more temples as well as the old Imperial Villa where the imperial family would spend the hot Japanese summers until the mid 1900s. As normal with the Japan travel videos we have tips for travelling around Nikko and updates on our Japan Rail Pass savings! Thanks so much for watching!
