What is PRODUCT LINE? What does PRODUCT LINE mean? PRODUCT LINE meaning - PRODUCT LINE definition - PRODUCT LINE explanation Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. In marketing jargon, product lining is offering several related products for sale individually. Unlike product bundling, where several products are combined into one group, which is then offered for sale as a unit, product lining involves offering the products for sale separately. A line can comprise related products of various sizes, types, colors, qualities, or prices. Line depth refers to the number of subcategories a category has. Line consistency refers to how closely related the products that make up the line are. Line vulnerability refers to the percentage of sales or profits that are derived from only a few products in the line. Product lining is a marketing strategy that companies adopt which they offer products in the same product line for sale individually (Krishnamurthi, 2007). Product line is a group of related products defined by their functions and customer market, forming a “line" or category (Neubauer, Steffen & Margaria, 2003). For instance, the variety of coffees that are offered at a café is one of its product lines and it could consist of flat white, cappuccinos, short black, lattes, mochas and etc. Alternatively, Product line of juices and pastries can also be found at a café. In comparison to product bundling, which is a strategy of offering more than one product for promotion as one combined item to create differentiation and greater value, product lining consists of selling different related products individually (Chen, 1997). The products in the product line can come in various sizes, colours, qualities, or prices. The benefits from having a successful product line is the brand identification from customers which result in customer loyalty and multiple purchases (Kekre & Srinivasan, 1990). It increases the likelihood of customers purchasing new products from the company that have just been added into the product line due to the previous satisfying purchases (Krishnamurthi, 2007).

What is PRODUCT LINE EXTENSION? What does PRODUCT LINE EXTENSION mean? PRODUCT LINE EXTENSION meaning - PRODUCT LINE EXTENSION definition - PRODUCT LINE EXTENSION explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ A product line extension is the use of an established product brand name for a new item in the same product category. Line Extensions occur when a company introduces additional items in the same product category under the same brand name such as new flavors, forms, colors, added ingredients, package sizes. This is as opposed to brand extension which is a new product in a totally different product category. Line extension occurs when the company lengthens its product line beyond its current range. The company can extend its product line down-market stretch, up-market stretch, or both ways. Product line extensions are a process where companies with an established brand alter the factors of a product or products to satisfy a refined segment in the market. There are two types of product line extensions, horizontal and vertical. Horizontal extensions consist of keeping the price and quality consistent, but changing factors like flavour or colour to differentiate the products. Vertical extensions consist of increasing and decreasing the quality and price to create inferior and luxury goods. These product line extensions are often closely related to existing products in a brands portfolio, but targets specific brand consumers through this approach. Product line extensions help companies identify and tend to the needs of refined target markets. This approach is a way to try and increase company sales, as well as expanding their brands product portfolio within the desired market. This expansion of a company’s product line also increases their competitive impact, and if applied appropriately, their advantage within the intended market. Practically, when brands apply a product extension strategy they can often benefit from the new addition or additions. This is as extending their product line enlarges their product portfolio and as a result provides the consumers with more variety to choose from. This is positive, as consumers tend to enjoy being able to have choice and through expanding a brands product line, the brand is providing this choice. Investing in this approach is commonly pursued by companies due to their desire to create revenue and to advance their competitive status against rival companies. The advantages when undergoing product line extensions is that the new product or products are commonly closely related to existing products, so the company often has the appropriate production process and capacity to produce the new product or products. Issues facing product line extensions can include company’s investments in the new products without the desired return. The product may come at a loss or may not be able to make enough of the return the company was forecasting for. The new addition could also send confusion to the company’s customer base, and in turn negatively affect the loyalty they have for the brand. This can evidently become a long-term risk in terms of brand image, as consumers may have a new view of the brand as cheap, in the case of downward extension, or unrealistic and unreasonable in terms of upward extension. An issue also connected to the extensions, could result in the production process becoming more and more complicated as a result of new products, this could affect the company’s efficiency and quality in the production of the brands product range. An advantage of extending company product lines is the likely rise in sales, demand and market share. Product line extension increases the amount of different products available to consumers, and through adding more products into the market it keeps consumers interested. This can be helpful in avoiding customer base loss.

What is Brand Equity?

01:33
Welcome to the Investors Trading Academy talking glossary of financial terms and events. Our word of the day is “Brand Equity”. Brand equity is a phrase used in the marketing industry which describes the value of having a well-known brand name, based on the idea that the owner of a well-known brand name can generate more money from products with that brand name than from products with a less well-known name. One situation when brand equity is important is when a company wants to expand its product line. If the brand's equity is positive, the company can increase the likelihood that customers will buy its new product by associating the new product with an existing, successful brand. For example, if Campbell's releases a new soup, it would likely keep it under the same brand name, rather than inventing a new brand. The positive associations customers already have with Campbell's would make the new product more enticing than if the soup had an unfamiliar brand name. Companies can create brand equity for their products by making them memorable, easily recognizable and superior in quality and reliability. Mass marketing campaigns can also help to create brand equity. If consumers are willing to pay more for a generic product than for a branded one, however, the brand is said to have negative brand equity. This might happen if a company had a major product recall or caused a widely publicized environmental disaster. By Barry Norman, Investors Trading Academy

What is MULTIBRANDING STRATEGY? What does MULTIBRANDING STRATEGY mean? MULTIBRANDING STRATEGY meaning - MULTIBRANDING STRATEGY definition - MULTIBRANDING STRATEGY explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ Multibranding strategy is when a company gives each product a distinct name. Multibranding is best used as an approach when each brand in intended for a different market segment. Multibranding is used in an assortment of ways with selected companies grouping their brands based on price-quality segments. Procter & Gamble (P&G), a multinational consumer goods company that offers over 100 brands, each suited for different consumer needs. For instance, Head & Shoulders that helps consumers relieve dandruff in the form of a shampoo, Oral-B which offers inter-dental products, Vicks which offers cough and cold products, and Downy which offers dryer sheets and fabric softeners. Other examples include Coca-Cola, Nestlé, Kellogg's, and Mars. This approach usually results in higher promotion costs and advertising. This is due to the company being required to generate awareness among consumers and retailers for each new brand name without the benefit of any previous impressions. Multibranding strategy has many advantages. There is no risk that a product failure will affect other products in the line as each brand is unique to each market segment. Although, certain large multiband companies have come across that the cost and difficulty of implementing a multibranding strategy can overshadow the benefits. For example, Unilever, the world's third-largest multination consumer goods company recently streamlined its brands from over 400 brands to centre their attention onto 14 brands with sales of over 1 billion euros. Unilever accomplished this through product deletion and sales to other companies. Other multibrand companies introduce new product brands as a protective measure to respond to competition called fighting brands or fighter brands.

What is UMBRELLA BRAND? What does UMBRELLA BRAND mean? UMBRELLA BRAND meaning & explanation

08:19
What is UMBRELLA BRAND? What does UMBRELLA BRAND mean? UMBRELLA BRAND meaning - UMBRELLA BRAND definition - UMBRELLA BRAND explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. Umbrella branding (also known as family branding) is a marketing practice involving the use of a single brand name for the sale of two or more related products. Umbrella branding is mainly used by companies with a positive brand equity (value of a brand in a certain marketplace). All products use the same means of identification and lack additional brand names or symbols. This marketing practice differs from brand extension in that umbrella branding involves the marketing of similar products, rather than differentiated products, under one brand name. Hence, umbrella branding may be considered as a type of brand extension. The practice of umbrella branding does not disallow a firm to implement different branding approaches for different product lines (e.g. brand extension). Umbrella Branding is used to provide uniformity to certain product lines by grouping them under a single brand name, making them more easily identifiable and hence enhancing their marketability. All products under the same corporate umbrella (masterbrand providing structure and credibility to other products of the corporation) are expected to have uniform quality and user experience (e.g. All products carrying the parent brand must be of the same high quality standards). Factors that may determine the impact of umbrella branding include: The degree of commonality among the products falling under the corporate umbrella (e.g. Whether the products may act as substitutes for each other). The brand equity of a corporation (e.g. Whether the brand is known in its product market). Various theories attempt to explain a consumer's decisions and judgements during product purchasing that cause umbrella branding to be a successful marketing strategy. The categorisation theory is based upon the notion that consumers tend to categorise products by associating them to brands and their past experiences with those particular brands (stored in their category memory) in order to evade the initial confusion caused by the extensive choice of products they are presented with. New information on certain products are categorised into various sections such as product class (e.g. beverage) and brand (e.g. Coca-Cola) and then stored. Afterwards, consumers evaluate the product quality through past experiences with the brand's products as well as the brand equity. This theory also explains for the popularity of umbrella branding. Consumers tend to evaluate new products not only by positive brand equity but also if the brand's concept is consistent with their extended products. For instance, assuming that the consumer had satisfactory past experiences with the company's products, if Apple Inc. would develop and sell a new version of a Macbook, consumers would deem it more reliable and potentially of superior quality rather than if Apple would produce a new beverage due to Apple's past product line.

Sony 4K TV Product Line Comparison

04:56
SUBSCRIBE FOR THE LATEST VIDEOS http://bit.ly/DTYouTubeSub Boasting similar features and performance, the X800E and X850E series are differentiated primarily by screen size — 43-, 49-, and 55-inch models make up the X800E series. The 65- and 75-inch variants get the X850E badge, but they also get a new chip offering HDR Pro Remastering for an HDR-like experience with non-HDR content, and Super Bit Mapping for smoother color gradations as well. As the entry level to Sony’s LED/LCD TV line, one might think Sony skimped on the X800E series’ processing and picture quality, but this segment is loaded with top-tier tech that’s been trickled down from higher-end models, including Sony’s excellent 4K X-reality Pro processing chip, and its Triluminous Display technology for expanded color gamut and increased color accuracy. In addition to Google’s Android TV operating system, Sony has also built in Google’s Home assistant, allowing for voice-based interaction and commands. Suggested retail pricing is as follows: XBR-75X850E, 75-inch class — $5,000 XBR-65X850E, 65-inch class — $2,500 XBR-55X800E, 55-inch class — $1,900 XBR-49X800E, 49-inch class — $1,100 XBR-43X800E, 43-inch class — $1,000 The X900E is an all new segment within Sony’s TV lineup. In addition to the aforementioned 4K X-Reality Pro chip, X1 HDR Pro Remastering and Super Bit Mapping, and Triluminous Display features, the X900E adds X-tended Dynamic Range Pro 5x, which we witnessed increasing contrast substantially over prior-year models. Interestingly, a full-array local dimming (FALD) backlight system, typically a high-end feature, is limited to this series (with the exception of the 75-inch X940E and Z9D). One might think that FALD would offer the best brightness, contrast, and black level control, but Sony says its more advanced, edge-lit X930E/X940E models actually surpass the performance of this series. Pricing is as follows: XBR-75X900E, 75-inch class — $6,000 XBR-65X900E, 65-inch class — $3,300 XBR-55X900E, 55-inch class — $2,400 XBR-49X900E, 49-inch class — $1,700 This series is at the highest rung of Sony’s lineup before getting to the over-the-top flagship Z9D series introduced late last year. In addition to all the aforementioned features, the X930E series employs an improved version of its edge-lighting system called Slim Backlight Drive +, which Sony claims offers 10 times the contrast of a conventional LED/LCD TV. We saw a side-by-side demonstration between the new X930E and last year’s X930D, and the contrast improvements were indeed substantial. This series has better black levels, better shadow detail, and much higher brightness, making it especially well suited for extreme HDR performance. This could be the finest edge-lit television we see in 2017. The X940E, which is available only in a 75-inch version, offers a souped-up full-array backlight system for performance that treads dangerously into the Z9D’s territory. An HDR gaming demonstration using the PlayStation 4 Pro was especially impressive, and we expect the TV will perform equally well for TV and movie playback. To get such performance, however, one will have to pay handsomely for it. Pricing is as follows: XBR-75X940E, 75-inch class — $7,500 XBR-65X930E, 65-inch class — $4,000 XBR-55X930E, 55-inch class — $3,300 Based on our brief demonstrations, these appear to be the finest TVs Sony has made to date, with excellent HDR performance (including Dolby Vision, HDR 10, and HLG) and, again, some of the finest picture processing available. We look forward to reviewing all series models in depth later this year. And when we do, we look forward to using Sony’s new Ultra HD Blu-ray player as a source. Samsung TV Product Line Comparison

04:16
SUBSCRIBE FOR THE LATEST VIDEOS http://bit.ly/DTYouTubeSub We're going to check out choice examples from Samsung's 2017 TV lineup. We'll start with the entry-level model, work out way up to the flagship model--the best TV Samsung makes--and along the way'll, you'll learn what kind of design and picture quality differences you can expect as you move up. Let's start up with what will be the same throughout every Samsung Smart TV you buy, and that's Tizen. Samsung continues to refine its Tizen smart TV operating system to the point where its TVs are more interactive and intuitive than ever before. Central to QLED smart improvements is a new Samsung One remote control, which the company says operates more devices, and supports more smart TV features via voice control. The TVs’ so-called Smart Hub can now be deeply customized using Samsung’s Smart View app, available for iOS and Android devices. Additionally, Samsung has come up with a new music service interface which corrals all supported internet radio stations and streaming music services into one place, with users’ playlists from all available services displayed in one central place. Samsung's most affordable 4K UHD TV, with HDR is the MU6300 and comes with 3 HDMI ports, along with one with HDMI-ARC for easy connection to a soundbar. For the price, this TV has good black levels, decent color, and better picture quality than you'd get with a 1080p TV for sure. If we move up a couple of notches, we get tot he MU7500, which is as a curved model, which isn't as common as you might think nowadays; Samsung is the last manufacturer to make curved TVs. At a glance, you'll notice the picture quality is a little better than the MU6300 and is brighter--which really makes HDR content pop of the screen better. Next on our list is the MU8000, where we're going to see a much flashier design in a trimmer bezel and slimmer profile. It's got a uniform backside and there's a chrome strip at the bottom that plays nicely against its two medal stands. With the MU8000, you'll also get a Samsung One Connect box, which lets you connect all your components to the box, then run a single cable up to your TV. The MU8000 punches well above its price point, where HDR starts to look pretty amazing at this level, with intense brightness, color, and very good looking black levels. If you're not looking to pay the premium price for Samsung's Q-Series, then this is an excellent choice. Finally on our list is one of those Q-Series TVs, the Q9, the crown jewel of of Samsung's new QLED TV lineup, and in our opinion, the best TV Samsung has ever made. It has a completely flat back, and a hidden mounting bay, which allows almost gapless wall mount when you use a special Samsung wall mount hardware. In terms of picture quality, we think the Samsung Q9 is one of the best screens you'll see all year from any manufacturer. Marketing Minute 076: “What Is Product Cannibalization in Marketing?” (Marketing Strategy)

01:29
Product cannibalization can destroy your profits, but it can also save your company. Which one it does depends on how you manage it. In simple terms, product cannibalization occurs when a company launches a new product that steals volume, sales revenue, and/or market share from one or more of their existing products. This sounds like bad business, especially if the new product being offered has a lower contribution margin than the existing products. But there are two reasons why launching a cannibalizing product can actually be a good marketing strategy. The first is customer retention. When your company offers a new, enhanced product, it provides customers with more value and keeps them buying your brand, rather than switching to your competitors’ brands as they improve their products and attempt to capture your market share. The second reason is new customer acquisition. A new product developed for a new target market may cannibalize current customers from a seemingly distinct market. Even at a lower margin, if enough new customers buy your brand, the losses from cannibalization are overcome by the gains in building a larger customer base. Fears of product cannibalization make marketing managers hesitant to launch, but these managers need to remember: when it comes to product cannibalization, it’s better to cannibalize sales from yourself than to let other companies steal those sales them from you. **Be sure to subscribe to my channel so you don't miss any future episodes of Monday's Marketing Minute, where you’ll learn about: - Marketing Strategy and Tactics - Brand Development - Personal Branding and Professional Branding - Marketing Yourself - Marketing Leadership - and whatever relevant and related topics come our way. **Also, connect with me on any of the following: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/anthonymiyazaki Twitter: https://twitter.com/sensiblefolk Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sensiblefolk/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/AnthonyMiyazaki

Achieve Greater Success in Product Line Extensions_Webinar

11:54
According to a May 2012 study by Catalina Marketing Corporation, 27% of sales of a brand's new product line extension, and 42% of purchases by existing brand buyers cannibalize sales of the brand's other products. If you feel your business results may be a part of these statistics, it may be time to rethink your research approach to line extensions. In this short 12-minute webcast, Liz Yandall, Account Executive at InsightsNow, Inc. provides: an overview of the business of line extensions, and offers an effective approach to screening ideas, flavors or varieties. She also offers sample results from a summer themed research study. The study uses Tournament+TURF, a proprietary approach by InsightsNow, which incorporates multiple measures that address choice, purchase intent and purchase frequency. The outcome gives you a better chance for success...on the shelf, and in the marketplace.

Pricing Strategies: Price Skimming

03:09
In this short revision video we explain the concept of price skimming. Price skimming is a pricing strategy that involves setting a high price before other competitors come into the market. This is often used for the launch of a new product which faces little or now competition – usually due to some technological features. Such products are often bought by “early adopters” who are prepared to pay a higher price to have the latest or best product in the market.

THE TRUTH ABOUT JACLYN HILL COSMETICS LIPSTICKS...

52:17
*MICROSCOPE I used in the video! - https://amzn.to/2WWIRwO Hey guys, so this video is so so so hard for me to upload. When I tell you that I have been racking my brain over this for the last 24 hours, I mean it. I Really REALLY like Jaclyn Hill and am so excited for her in her endeavors, but unfortunately I have a less than positive review to give these today. I bought these myself on Launch day and also received PR. I bought all 20 of them and the total was $330 When i was unboxing and looking at each of the lipsticks, I noticed that what people were saying was true, that there were some issues with the outer appearance of the actual lipstick themselves. Upon further inspection, I noticed fibers, hairs, beads, and pitting in a bunch of the lipsticks. I decided to put them under a microscope to see what everything looked like up close, and I was SHOCKED. The colors are all stunning and wonderful, but unfortunately my review doesn't contain much in terms of the formula and colors, but more of the issues that people are experiencing and showing my personal lipsticks at length and detail. I also melt down one of my chunky lipsticks and break it apart to see if the chunks run all the way through. I KNOW this is FAR too in depth, trust me, I don't ever want to be the person to go THIS in depth with LIPSTICKS. But because of the amount of complaints that I have seen, and confirming the quality (or lack there of) with my own personal lipsticks, I thought it would be good to just say "whatever, lets do this" and go SUPER nitty gritty into the formula of these. I do NOT think that Jaclyn was aware of the quality of these before them going out, I think that these lipsticks are either OLD OR the lab has ZERO quality control and that they are contaminated (which is what I truly think happened) I really feel like the lab did Jaclyn dirty. I think they released less than poor quality products and now she and her brands reputation are paying the price. Here is my review. I am sorry for all of the negativity. https://jaclyncosmetics.com/ ♦ SOCIAL MEDIA ♦ F A C E B O O K https://www.facebook.com/pages/Raw-Beauty-Kristi/363108873798791?fref=ts I N S T A G R A M http://instagram.com/rawbeautykristi T W I T T E R https://twitter.com/RawBeautyKristi P I N T E R E S T http://pinterest.com/kmaven04/boards/ S N A P C H A T Username: rawbeautykristi P E R I S C O P E RawBeautyKristi FOR BUSINESS: [email protected] __ CLICK THIS LINK to shop for my favorite Sigma Brushes! http://sigma-beauty.7eer.net/c/196942/146780/2835 For Costume/Halloween Contacts CLICK this link https://camoeyes.com/?ref=72 Enter code "rawbeautykristi" at checkout for 10% off! __ Thanks for watching! How to Find a Supplier on Alibaba & Find a Chinese Manufacturer

11:13
This video tutorial will teach you how to find a supplier on Alibaba & find a Chinese manufacturer. ►► Free Ebook - Make $10,000/Month Online: http://wholesaleted.com/4-step Here are our step-by-step instructions on how to find a supplier on Alibaba: Step 1: Go to Alibaba and find the search bar. Type in the name of a product that you are interested in selling. In this video I used vitamin pills as an example. Step 2: Because a lot of suppliers have duplicate listings on Alibaba for the same item (because it increases their presence in the Alibaba search engine) you will need to filter the results by clicking on “browse by suppliers.” Step 3: To filter the results down further, search by “Gold Suppliers.” Most suppliers will do this because it has become basically a prerequisite for having new buyers contact them. It doesn’t cost them much money to do this, so the results will only be filtered by a small amount. Step 4 (OPTIONAL): If the list of suppliers is still too long, then click to filter the results by “assessed supplier.” This is only necessary in very popular niches where you have a large number of suppliers that you need to filter down to a manageable amount. Step 5: Contact 10-20 suppliers at least. If you have time, then contact more. The more you contact, the better. Here is the email template referenced in our video tutorial on how to find a supplier on Alibaba: "My name is [INSERT NAME] from [INSERT BUSINESS NAME]. Our company director asked me to contact your company about working together on a lucrative, long-term venture. We are a company that sells products related to [INSERT NICHE HERE] and we do over 2 million dollars in sales each year. We’re looking to expand our product range and create a profitable partnership between your company and ours. We are planning to purchase [INSERT ITEM] to our product line. It would need to meet these specifications: * Specification (e.g size) * Specification (e.g. quantity) * Specification (e.g. colour) We have been researching different companies in China that manufacture [INSERT ITEM] and we think that your company could be a great supplier for it. We would like to get some more information and have a few questions that we would like you to please answer: * Can we please get a sample of the product as soon as possible. Can you please let us know how much you will charge for the sample, including Express shipping to [INSERT COUNTRY], zip code [INSERT ZIP CODE]? We would like to pay with PayPal. * How long will it take to receive the sample? * What types of packaging do you usually use for this product? * How long does it take to manufacture once an order has been placed? * What is the product-per-unit cost including shipping via Air Express to the United States, ZIP code 85043? * Do you accept PayPal for the full-order?" We would be very grateful if you would contact us with answers to the above questions as well as any additional policies that we may need to know. We would also like to discuss with you further about doing a sample order for the product. We are hopeful that we can start a mutually beneficial relationship. Please add me on Skype and talk to me, as this is my ideal form of communication: [INSERT ID] Alternatively you can email me back at this address: [INSERT ADDRESS] Kind regards, [NAME]” Here are some final tips to keep in mind when you are looking to find a supplier on Alibaba to manufacture your Amazon FBA private label products: Tip #1 on how to find a supplier on Alibaba: Don’t judge the supplier/manufacture by their Alibaba response rate. The Alibaba response rate only takes into account how fast they respond within Alibaba’s email system, and it doesn’t take into account how fast they reply to personal emails. This is not a good indicator of how responsive they will be to private communication, which is all you should care about. Tip #2 on how to find a supplier on Alibaba: Avoid manufacturers that try to vet your business. If a manufacturer comes back and starts asking questions about your business, clearly skeptical of the size of your company, it is best to move on. Manufacturers that do this will usually decline to work with you as they are only to work with other large companies, so you don’t want to waste your time. Tip #3 on how to find a supplier on Alibaba: It is OK to work directly with a sales rep - if they offer you a better deal. When you are looking to find a supplier on Alibaba, you’ll discover that sales reps often have inflated prices (due to commission cuts). But occasionally, a sales rep will have a better relationship with a factory and so are able to negotiate lower prices. They will also often have good english, making communication easier. Vet sales reps and treat them as equals during the process of picking and choosing the right supplier.
