Mumbai city of Maharashtra is a spectacular paradox of chaos and hope, glamor and squalor, modernity and tradition, old and new. Famously known as the City of Dreams, Mumbai ? formerly known as Bombay ? has a long colonial history, starting from Gandhi?s visits to the city to the intense protests against the Simon Commission in 1928, the city has stood witness to many important events in the country?s freedom struggle. Today, Mumbai is a beautifully blended melting pot of cultures and lifestyles. The city soaks in everything into its fabric, making it its very own. From European and Portuguese inhabitants who migrated years ago to the city, to upcoming actors struggling to make it big on the silver screen; from Bolly superstars to big industrialists to tribes of fisherman and slum dwellers, Mumbai is a city that proudly boasts of stories from different walks of human survival. One of the main centres in the country of art, culture, music, dance and theatre, Mumbai is a dynamic, cosmopolitan city that has been running for years solely on the indomitable spirit of the Mumbaikars. If you want to soak in some of the city's reminiscent colonial feeling, start by taking a walk around the streets of South Mumbai, which is basically old Bombay. South Mumbai is dotted with buildings that will make you feel like you?ve been transported back in time to the British era; the British influence on the architecture of buildings is very prominent in almost every building you come across. The most iconic tourist spot in Mumbai has to be the Gateway of India, and this awe-inspiring structure is located right on the waterfront overlooking the Arabian Sea. The majestic Taj Mahal Hotel, which is another famous Mumbai landmark, is directly opposite the Gateway of India, so you can spend an entire day at these two locations alone, immersing yourself in the marvellous history of this town replete in rich heritage. Since Mumbai is situated right beside the Arabian Sea, there are various promenades where you just sit back and relax and feel the breeze on your face. Marine Drive is one such promenade where you can sit with your feet dangling over the ledge, and enjoy a beautiful sunset against the backdrop of the roaring waves of the Arabian sea. When in Mumbai, don?t forget to visit Bandra, which is home to most of the Bollywood stars, and is a laid-back suburb which houses many bars and nightclubs where you can experience the best of Mumbai?s nightlife. Mumbai?s local cuisine is a food lover?s paradise, and the local street food comprising of items such as vada pav, pav bhaji, dahi puri, pani puri and kala khatta will pamper your taste buds without burning a hole in your pocket. Being a metropolis, Mumbai is a shopping haven, and there is pretty much nothing that you won?t be able to find here. Street shopping in Mumbai is best experienced at Colaba Causeway and Linking Road, where you can buy everything from junk jewellery to shoes, bags and even fancy designer clothes Tourist Point of attraction in Mumbai : Haji Ali Dargah Elephenta Caves Gateway of India Marine Drive Mumbai banstand Fashion Street Juhu chaupati Mumbai film city Mumbai beaches Travel budget calculator : https://www.indiainfo.help/travel/delhi/mumbai

After checking out the Bollywood stars' houses in Mumbai in the last vlog, I head to Film City Mumbai to see where Bollywood films are made. I take the Film City Tour and give you a review of whether it's worth ₹3000 or not. The amount of Bollywood movies shot here at Film City Goregaon is incredible as are some of the sets you get to walk around, like that of Baghban, Singham, Deewar, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and more. The most interesting two areas as the temple set and the outdoor set with 3 houses - both are used in countless Bollywood films. The tour costs ₹3000 ($49 online) for foreigners and ₹650 for Indians. Mumbai - Filmcity - Maya Nagari Inside Maya Nagari - Full Tour- Enjoy... This is one place that has impacted million of lives directly, and many more millions indirectly. Indian movies and its related industries have played ( and still playing) a significant role in our lives. Hate it or like it, movies/music/TV serials are part of our life. I recorded the whole tour. Its hour and half long. If you have time and patience, you can watch the whole video. Here is the link - https://youtu.be/kb00F1gf6cM Otherwise, here is my take on it- The tour is NOT about going inside the studio and see the movie shooting. It is not about meeting stars. It costs Rs 599 per person. You will need ID proof that shows that you belong to India ( foreign Nationals are prohibited). NRIs are OK as long as they have PAN card, Adhar card, Indian passport etc. Tour starts at the main gate of filmcity. There are 35 people in the bus. The tour guide was knowledgeable. He himself has acted in few Hindi serials. The tour bus takes you through various locations and production house sites where different movies were shot or are being shot. You can not go inside any of those. Those sites are considered properties of the production houses, so without their permission you can not enter. If you are lucky, you may see stars/ producer /director going in their car or going to their vanity van from their car. We saw Director Anurag Basu driving his car and saw Actor Saurabh Shukla entering his vanity van. We were told that in an hour Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor will start their shooting for the movie - Jagga Jasoos - in 2 hours and Anushka Sharma might be already shooting at other site, which was covered. We were taken to the location were hindi serial was being shot, but then quickly we were kicked out, as our presence was interfering with the shooting. I badly wanted to see the location of Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma serial, but it was completely covered in such a way that I could only see the " gokuldham society" entrance from outside. We were told that it was the most popular and most in demand shooting location of all. I saw the 'ugly' side of the movie making too. The people who were making the sets ( it was practically a construction site) seems to be at the same poverty level as you would see outside. They were eating their lunch outside in the open area, in heat. Not sure if they had access to proper clean water source and bathroom at the site. The industry where crores of rupees are generated by some mega movies, the people who actually do the hard manual work ( like the people who were making the set of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's movie - Padmavati) probably are not getting paid well. Exploitation was very obvious. After my tour, I talked to few of local people, including the Rickshaw driver who took me back to Goregaon station from filmcity, to get the feel for it. They were not impressed or happy about it . First of all, it looks like they have created hype around the tour. People like me got sucked into spending Rs 599, which may not be much when you are converting Dollars to Rupees, but for someone with family of 4, who belongs to middle class family, this could be a significant expense. Plus, in exchange for Rs 599, they did not think that what they show is worth seeing. As they only show the sites where certain movies were shot or are being shot, nothing live. I think to some extent they were right, but for person like me who has nostalgia about movies, this was worth "wasting" some of my time and money. I have taken similar tour at Universal Studio in Los Angels. They do the same thing - they take you around the whole studio without you being able to see any live shooting. The only difference is - there it is part of your theme park entrance ticket, so you do not spend extra money for it. So, it all depends on how mesmerized you are about Indian movies and TV serials and how keen you are to remove that illusion. At the end of the day, it is an industry, with workers in it, owners in it. people who controls things, people who profits massively out of it. And there are consumers of that industry like me, who create their own dream worlds out of the stories told by that industry and willing to pay to be told their own stories back to them with fake means, appearing real. Watch the video and you may not want to spend the time and money I spent, or you may get curious enough to go and see yourself. I do not have any recommendation either way. #gatewayofindia #mumbai #incredibleindia গেটওয়ে অব ইন্ডিয়া - মুম্বাই - Mumbai Tour - Gateway of India (Bengali) Watch the video in English https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xXA7umnidk The Gateway of India is the "symbolic monument" that represents the city of Mumbai in India. The Gateway of India - the most important landmark of Mumbai - is a major tourist destination and a popular gathering spot for locals, street vendors and photographers. This is also the starting point of the famous Elephanta Caves tour which is a UNESCO World Heritage. Gateway of India is located opposite the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel and the Tower hotel. In 2012, Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation moved the "Elephanta Festival of music and dance" from its original location at Elephanta Caves (where it had been celebrated for 23 years) to the Gateway because this huge area can accomodate more audience. The Gateway can host 2,000 to 2,500 people, whereas Elephanta Caves could host only 700 to 800 people. There are five jetties located around the Gateway of India. The first jetty is exclusive to the Bhava Atomic Research Centre while the second and third are used for commercial ferry operations, the fourth one is closed and the fifth is exclusive to the Royal Bombay Yacht Club. Boats set out from the second and third jetties for Elephanta Caves - a UNESCO World Heritage site - which is a 50-minute boat ride on the sea.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport is One of the best airport in the world and was inaugurated in Januarry 2014. The airport has two main passenger terminal complexes. Terminal 1 at Santacruz is dedicated for domestic passengers. The new Terminal 2 which is an integrated terminal catering to both international and domestic passengers but now a days flights terminal can change from domestic to internation according to which airline you are travelling. I’ve travelled many airports in India and abroad but this one has some specialty in it. I can very confidently say that if you have a transit in this airport you will not be bored easily as there is a lot of things to look out for. Also you may easily spot celebrities here. A modern airport which is designed with a basic shape of a feather of peacock. Incidentally peacock is the national bird of India. This shape is repeated in many components of this beautiful structure of this airport building. These include columns, ceilings, logo, panels etc. The new international terminal "T2" is nothing short of a marvel, a fusion of art and technology. The terminal is on of the best in the world and puts India on the world map. The new Terminal - T-2 is mesmerising and offers a lot to the people. This airport exhibits many cultural and contemporary art works. It is worth watching the airport just roaming inside, if you have time before boarding a flight. Quite nicely decorated and it's huge. Relevant signs at every location to guide you through the way. They provide services to keep you entertained until your boarding starts. The facilities at this airport are of international level, Check in and luggage collection was well organised and smooth. There are many international brands options to choose from for shoppers, it is like one big shopping mall. Duty free shops are also world class, one big part is its food zone having mouthwatering delicious food option. There are ample food joints and lounges, and the shops are good value for last minute gifts. Smoking zones are clean and well ventilated. There are nice areas to relax if you have long time transit. The overall atmosphere was calm and serene - unlike most airports. Ground staffs, securities, police everybody are very helpful. I am amazed at the choice of theme it has. The inclusion of Art and artefacts, installations, sculptures and the sheer grandeur through the exotic interior is breathtaking! A unique airport that celebrates the country's traditions, arts and crafts! Though there can be long Queue in the security and immigration depending on the time of the day. It gets really busy between 9:00 pm to 2:00 am when many International flights depart. Airport has lot of parking space there are many five star hotels just outside the airport which is very convenient for businessman and travellers. It has the best connectivity across the globe. The huge Airport witness hundreds of flight everyday from across the globe. There are a lot of approach routes and the traffic to and fro to the airport is also managed well. The world class airport making travel more easier and enjoyable. #monorail #mumbaimonorail #mmrda #fullhd World's 3rd largest monorail network. Phase 2 was inaugurated in 2019 and it connects Jacob Circle, Parel to Wadala. Phase 1 connected Wadala to Chembur. The 20 km route is India's first monorail system. Its a 4 coach train and the entire 17 station route has been built at a cost of 3000 crore. The MMRDA plans to operate 120 services with 7 trains. I made a vlog about my first time on this unique mode of transport which has been aimed at reducing traffic and connecting distant parts of the city with the primary network of trains, buses and metro. School kids, parents, college boys and girls were primarily eager to experience it, the day it launched. 23,000 traveled on the second day of inauguration, revenue of 4 lakh. I reached the Ambedkar Nagar monorail station near Haffkine institute, at the back side of KEM hospital in Parel in the afternoon. The ticket to Chembur costed me 30 Rs. The security here is quite good, their attire seemed quite similar to the CRPF jawans/soldiers. They were quite helpful in guiding me and instructing other passenger about safety and directions. I boarded the train in and was pleasantly surprised with the interior of the train, it was clean and futuristic. The doors were automatic and the train was full air-conditioned which made it very easy and comfortable to travel in the sweltering heat of Mumbai, it will be of great help to a Mumbiker in the summer season. Now coming to the main part, the scenes and sights of Mumbai! Yes, this was the best part as I got to see Mumbai from point of view that was never seen before for over 25 years of my life! I saw such beautiful and diverse landscapes that for a second I could not believe that this was Mumbai, it really looks so new and different from above. I also saw a great deal of economic disparity, houses of the poor and sky scrapers of the rich. There were beautiful lawns, gardens and golf courses, luxury buildings as well as dumping grounds, industries, truck stations and slums which seemed poles apart from each other but existed in such a unique kind of harmony that it was amazing to see it from such a new perspective. After I crossed Wadala, I suddenly realised that there was so much open land in Mumbai! Acres of land which has not yet been used for housing projects or entertainment purposes. However I think that it is owned by the Reliance group, headed by Mukesh Ambani. If not all, most of it is owned by the petroleum Jio Billionaire who plans to make this one of the best ports in the World in future! As I reached Chembur I was satisfied with my first time experience and sure do hope to visit again soon. Overall I feel India is well on its way to beat China and Japan when it comes to trains and other allied modes of transport. Hope you enjoyed watching the video. Follow me on Instagram and Facebook so that we could connect better. monorail phase 2, monorail mumbai phase 2, monorail train, monorail in mumbai, monorail japan, monorail video, monorail dubai, monorail mumbai Mumbai monorail timelapse, Gopro hero 7, Hyperlapse, First time in India, MMRDA.

SUBSCRIBE NOW► http://bit.ly/MarkWiensSubscribe Read my blog about Vada Pav: https://migrationology.com/ashok-vada-pav-mumbai/ Day 3: Mumbai, India - To begin the day we took a quick trip to Elephanta Island to see the Elephanta caves. We then came back to Mumbai, and had amazing Bombay duck at Gomantak restaurant, and then proceeded to have one of the greatest Mumbai street foods, called vada pav. 00:22 Elephanta Caves (boat ride 180 INR ($2.69) - One of the worthwhile attractions in Mumbai is the Elephanta Caves, which are a series of historical religious temple caves located on an island off the coast of Mumbai. To get there, you can take a boat from the Gateway of India. We decided to go there first thing in the morning to try to avoid the crowds. I thought it was well worth it. 6:56 Gomantak Boarding House (Dadar West) - One of the top Mumbai foods I wanted to try when I was in Mumbai was Bombay duck, also known and bombil, which is actually not duck at all, but lizardfish. We took a taxi to Dadar West and went to a restaurant called Gomantak that specializes in Malvani cuisine (from the area of Mumbai) and always has Bombay duck on their menu. I ordered the Bombay duck fry, fried pieces of lizardfish that came with the full thali set, including rice and a few curries and chutneys on the side. I also couldn’t resist ordering a side dish of pomfret masala. One interesting thing from this amazing Mumbai restaurant was solkadhi - made from coconut milk and kokum fruit, and it was my first time to try it. Total price - 710 INR ($10.60) 14:14 Ashok Vada Pav - One of the most important Mumbai street food snacks is vada pav, which is a fried potato cutlet stuffed into a bun and seasoned with some flavorful chutneys and spices. It’s sometimes known as the Mumbai vegetarian burger. Ashok Vada Pav is known for serving one of the best vada pav in Mumbai, and they also have some serious history to them. When I took my first bite, I knew exactly why it was so popular. It was absolutely sensationally delicious. It was a little on the salty side, but the vada pav was so good, with a balance of salty, spicy, sweet, and crunchy. Vada pav is one of the most popular Mumbai street foods, but at Ashok vada pav you’ll find one of the best in Mumbai. Vada pav (vada pao) - 20 INR ($0.30). 18:36 Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum - 100 INR ($1.49) - After the amazing vada pav, we took a taxi over to the Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum, which is another good museum to visit when you are in Mumbai. I especially liked the actual building. 19:58 Bagdadi Restaurant - For dinner we headed back to Colaba near to our hotel and ate at another legendary Mumbai restaurant known for serving north Indian Mughlai food. The one dish I had to order was chicken masala fry, and I also got daal and palak paneer. Although all the food was indeed on the buttery and oily side, it was incredibly delicious. Total price - 515 INR ($7.70). Thank you for watching this Mumbai food and travel video. The highlight of the day was the Bombay duck fry and the Mumbai street food vada pav. After I landed in Mumbai at midnight to kick off my second visit to India in November of 2018, my friend Sam and I took a car ride to my first official city of this trip, Pune, which is the second-largest city and the cultural capital of the state of Maharashtra. Come along with us as we make the late-night journey to this incredible city! Subscribe to Sam & Audrey: https://www.youtube.com/user/BackpackingTravelTV On our way to Pune, Sam and I stopped to get some chai, a creamy and delicious Indian tea that is made with milk and ginger and reminds me of café con leche. Even though it was 4:30 in the morning, the tea had us both feeling super energized as we caught up after not seeing each other for four years! Our private, three-hour ride to Pune cost us 4,000 Rupees, or $56 U.S. Subscribe & Click the Bell for 2+ Videos Per Week ► http://bit.ly/DBH-SUB My Film Making Kit ► https://kit.com/davidsbeenhere By the time we made it to our Airbnb in Pune, it was nearly 6:30 a.m. and the sun was coming up! Our amazing accommodations were located in a nice, safe area of the city, next to a park, and included two spacious bedrooms with nice closets, two bathrooms, a kitchen, a large living room and dining room, beautiful artwork and photographs on the walls, and a beautiful terrace that is surrounded by greenery and even had a bird’s nest! And it only cost us $40 U.S. per night! I hope you enjoyed our travels to Pune and our Airbnb tour! I went out on a half day trip around the City of Mumbai with Arpan from Bombay Walks in a local way. We started the day by going to Dhobi Ghat which is where they do all of the laundry! This is a must visit place in Mumbai! Afterwards we went to Dadar Flower Market and then got a bus to Worli fishing Village and to see Worli Fort. This is something I couldn't have done by myself and I was glad I did a City Tour with a local to help me see this side of Mumbai! Two days later I went on a Slum Tour to India's biggest Slum - Dharavi Slum, also where Slumdog Millionaire was filmed. I couldn't film whilst I was inside but I could film at the start. Overall my thoughts on the Slum Tour were positive. Dharavi Slum is a unique and productive slum where people work and it feels more like a village. It is not a case of doing a slum tour and staring at peoples poverty. I did the Slum Tour with Reality Tours and I would really recommend going with them as they give back to the community of the slum. VLOG 9 from my Full Time Travels! Thank you for watching. Mumbai is a buzzing metropolis and if you are wondering what keeps the mega city going then there are two evident answers: the unflinching spirit of the hardworking populace and the numerous hawkers thronging the streets, conjuring up scrumptious and affordable meals for all. The locals are extremely fond of the exciting and eclectic street food scene here. Our food journey began with the ubiquitous Mumbai Sandwich. This hearty, golden, crisp on the outside and soft and spicy inside and humble vegetable white bread sandwich was stuffed with slices of boiled potatoes, capsicum, tomatoes and onion. The second stop was a chai shop where we tried Mumbai’s famous cutting chai or half measured chai that was strong, milky and sweet enough to give you the kick to carry on. Third thing that we had was the poha or a popular savoury breakfast preparation made of soaked flattened rice mixed with some cooked veggies primarily potatoes and onions and tempered with the distinctly flavourful mustard seeds, curry leaves and chillies and topped with sev and chopped onion. Along with it we also tried the upma which is almost a poha equivalent made up of semolina and is more soggy. All of these were accompanied with sambar and coconut chutney. Our fourth stop the Yazdani bakery, an unassuming heritage eatery that has been around since 1951. We spoke to the endearing owner Parveen Yazdani who gave us a sneak peek into the history and the popularity of the place and its food. Sipping the chai and along with Brun maska, slightly crusted bun slathered with copious amounts of Amul butter, in the antique set up of this bakery was a surreal experience. Fifth place was the legendary Pancham Pooriwala. The lip smacking Pancham thali, the winning combo of sada pooris and aamras and the enchanting crowd is a cogent combination of flavours, heritage and connections. The food here was an amazing amalgamation of flavours from UP, Punjab and Rajasthan. Our sixth stop was Aram vada pav where we sank our teeth into the delicious Indian version of the burger. The contrasting tastes and textures of this no frill snacks synonymous with Mumbai is a hit. After that instant carbohydrate boost we headed to the seventh spot to have a pan in order to cleanse our palate and prime it for more food. Pan is betel leaves topped with pulverised areca nuts and other condiments which is folded into a triangle and relished. The eighth destination was Elco restaurant to try their famous sindhi style pani puris, sev puri, dahi puri and bhelpuri. All the stuffs were fresh, sensational and addictive. Our final stop in this leg of Mumbai street food journey was the Sardar pav Bhaji that has been serving this quintessential Mumbai Street for over half a century. A scrumptious plate of buttery soft pavs and the mildly spiced, distinctly savoury and delicious bhaji made us realise why it is a celebrity. #MumbaiFoodTour #WalkwithDelhiFoodWalks About the host - Anubhav Sapra: Anubhav Sapra is an avid foodie! The Food Ranger (Trevor James) is in India eating Street Food! This walk through Old delhi truly was an AMAZING STREET FOOD ADVENTURE with delicious curry, amazing restaurants, and with so much tasty and UNIQUE Indian food recipes for our huge Indian dinner. If you love eating street food around the world and street food in India, or even all over Asia, you will love the street food in Old Delhi. You can find street food everywhere, where everyone seems to cook delicious Indian recipes for curry and SPICY dishes all over the street. In one day in old Delhi, India, we had 7 delicious street foods all made in the halal style. We started out the day with an AMAZING ramadan experience at the largest Mosque in Delhi, Jama Masjid. We picked up a ton of different Indian street foods to bring to the mosque and break the fast with all the locals. We shared the delicious food, and then went back to the streets of Old Delhi to try more food. The first food we had on our street food tour was the Delhi Fried Chicken, DFC, covered in Indian spices like masala and mustard. It was extremely JUICY and PLUMP!!! Afterwards, we tried more BBQ chicken and then went for a nice Indian dinner cooked by one of the locals in Old Delhi. His family recipes were passed down to him and his food was legendary! We ate Indian Chicken Biryani and chicken korma curry along with Buffalo Korma along with Kameeri Roti! It was absolutely delicious! After this, we went to the LEGENDARY Changezi chicken joint that invented the recipe for this juicy and flavour packed chicken curry dish! To finish of the day, we went for some delicious BBQ Seekh Kebabs, extremely flavourful!! The addresses for these street food restaurants in Old Delhi, India, are found on the main street below Jama Masjid, Old Delhi, India.
