Bio-luminescent plankton are highly unpredictable in the Maldives. There is no time through the year that you can guarantee seeing it. And don’t believe anyone that tells you otherwise. So let’s go into the complex science behind the concept for a little while. They excrete a chemical blob onto the environment that they currently are in (usually in the water). It is a survival tactic so that the predators will target their attention to the glowing flicker of light. Which is why they usually glow when threatened. Hence the post movement glow. Meaning, if you move your hands across the field of plankton it will glow in an instant and slowly fade out, and this also occurs not only in the Maldives, but the Bahamas, Puerto Rico and Jamica. There are some people giving out different months of high possibility between mid-summer and autumn.[ August - November ] توهج شواطئ جزيرة فادهو بالملديف بسبب تزايد الأعشاب البحرية أو العوالق النباتية على هذه الشواطئ تسمى ب:فايتوبلانكتون تنتشر قبالة الشاطئ وعلى رماله، ويعتقد العلماء أنها تتوهج بهذه الطريقة العجيبة لتخيف أعداءها ▁ ▂ ▃ ▄ ▅ ▆ ▇ ▆ ▅ ▃ ▂ ▁ Thank for watching! Vaadhoo is one of the inhabited islands of Raa Atoll, Maldives. Vaadhoo island is famous for the 'sea of stars.' This marine bioluminescence is generated by phytoplankton known as dinoflagellates. Woodland Hastings of Harvard University has for the first time identified a special channel in the dinoflagellate cell membrane that responds to electrical signals—offering a potential mechanism for how the algae create their unique illumination.

Sea of stars, Vaadhoo Island, Maldives Vaadhoo Island is one of the popular group of islands which are considered as the heaven on Earth. This island has lots of surprises, specialties which are revealed at night time. The splendid water in the sea just looks like a reflection in the mirror reflecting the stars sparkling from above the sky. The Vaadhoo  Island is located on the equator to the south west of Sri Lanka in Indian Ocean of Maldives which is a unique place for an unforgettable experience which is inhabited in the Raa Atoll Island. This contains of many  number of islets which spreads over 900,000 square kilometers and they are decorated with white sand and surrounded  by  warm waters with rich marine life. This island has a beach which is famous through out the world for its glow in the dark. This is an spectacular scenery to watch which may never disappoint the visitors in Maldives. These beaches are the main reason that this country has been considered as one of the hottest tourist destination in the world. The glowing in the dark is generally an natural phenomena which is very rare. The water in the beach looks like a mirror for the stars and sky where it glows in blue from bio luminescence. The bacteria in the sea gives a beautiful visual effect that mirrors the sky with stars at night. This natural and wonderful phenomena is due to a species of plankton names dinoflagellates which emits the blue light because their cell membranes which has the ability of responding to the electric signals and glow which offers a good mechanism for how the algae can create their unique illumination. The light created by planktons are concentrated in the beach edges and they are big enough to view from distant. Practically, due to the bio luminescence, the night is never seen in the beach of Vaadhoo Islands. It is a joy that such a natural wonder exists on earth which is commonly seen at sea,and from the ships which stir the oxygen up in the water so that the micro organism in the water is disturbed by the oxygen  and this makes the bio luminescent bacteria to glow. When billions of cells are disturbed ,the wave breaks up which results it to a splendid flash of light. This view is normally just seen away from land when ships stir up the sea bed. The glow known as ‘micro flash’ is similar to that of the fireflies which are in need to attract their preys or mates. The Sea of Stars is just such a rare sight to view from the shore. Also, some organisms under the sea also glow due to this mainly some creatures which live at depths where light from the surface has less chance to penetrate there. Every wave coming to the shore is lit up like lighting sheets. The view may look like an alien has washed up on a beach but the case is entirely different as it is a natural phenomena. When people walk across the sand near the shore of the sea,due to the pressure, the light glows in shore also which gives an amazing feeling. Due to the glow during night time. there is also a side effect which affects in blooming of red algae also known as red tide. It turns the entire beach into red and somewhat dim during the day time. The chemical process in this beach is used as a defense mechanism to distract or confuse the predators. This glowing effect usually occurs in the end of spring and summer and sometimes it has a milky sea effect in Arabian Sea also. Here, the bacteria caused is known as Vibrio Harveyi. The beaches here gives the chance to enjoy the magnificient beauty of the nature and enjoy the charm. Also,we can enjoy there by involving in some adventurous activities like wind surfing, diving and snorkeling. Also, this type of phenomena is viewed in other places like Belgium, Japan,Indonesia,UK,Bali and so on. This phenomena is used in the “Life of Pi” movie  by the director  Ang Lee who got an Oscar Award for the best visual effects. The beach in Maldives gives us an experience in which no other one can match its level of incredibility and specialty. A long stroll in the beach is a perfect one with partners which makes a romantic night. Most visitors are honeymoon couples as they seek specialty. Many tourists worldwide come from different parts to visit this sea. There are perfect beach resorts available for tourists to stay. It is considered as a paradise of the Earth. The visit to the Sea of Stars is never ever forgettable and it will be the best one for its beautiful natural specialty. It is a wonder created by the mother earth. The visit is really worthy for its spectacular beauty.

The sea of stars of Vaadhoo Island Maldives attracts annually millions of tourists eager to capture the natural phenomenon that turns sea water into a color of electric blue-neon. The reason why the shore and waves have those neon blue stained particles and that unbelievable twinkle, is due to a natural chemical reaction called ‘’bioluminescence’’, what happens when a microorganism in the water is disturbed by the oxygen, making the Sea of Stars, one of the greatest landscapes ever! The glow of the night is a side effect of the blooming red algae, known as the ‘’red tide’’ so that during the day you can see the entire beach red. In fact, the beautiful blue light is the result of phytoplankton, some marine microbes that create this blue glow and the amazing scenery of the Vaadhoo Island, attracting lots of tourists coming in the Maldives, eager to see the outstanding phenomenon. TOP 10 Best Maldives Resorts 2017 ~ Majestic Islands ~ HD Video

10:39
Music: Svadisthana (Dance Mix) by Dhruva Aliman - https://dhruvaaliman.bandcamp.com/album/hello-moon ...The most romantic hotels in the Maldives including the best for over water villas, private plunge pools, open-air cinemas, Michelin-starred restaurants, beachfront dining and spectacular diving facilities. ------Soneva Fushi hotel, Maldives ------The motto here is “no news, no shoes” and, true to their word, guests’ footwear is confiscated on the traditional dhoni boat transfer from Malé. The 65 villas made from natural materials are sandwiched between jungle and beach. Fun extras include an open-air cinema on the beach, planetarium, treetop yoga, a Mr or Mrs Friday (aka personal butler) assigned to each villa. There's an excellent choice of dining options, including Mihiree Mitha, which serves wonderfully fresh sushi, and By The Beach, for Korean-inspired cuisine by candlelight, both supplied by the island’s vegetable and herb gardens. Cocoa Island by COMO Maafushi, Maldives This little slice of tropical heaven offers a total escape from everyday life. One of the smallest, most stylish resorts in the Indian Ocean has just 33 thatched villas inspired by dhonis with large, secluded decks for lounging on or slipping into the lagoon. Holistic, Asian-inspired treatments are offered in the COMO Shambhala Retreat, which has an open-air yoga pavilion and four treatments rooms, including one for couples. There’s a main restaurant, Ufaa, but guests tend to hide away in their villa or opt for private dining on the beach. Cheval Blanc Randheli hotel, Noonu, Maldives Cheval Blanc Randheli is a 40-minute ride from Malé on the resort’s private seaplane and has a touch of old-school glamour about it. There are 45 villas, some on a private man-made island, some overwater with a private jetty and infinity pool and lots of sumptuous extras including complimentary massages to relieve jet-lag, toiletries created exclusively for the resort by Dior, and four restaurants overseen by Yannick Alléno, three-Michelin-starred chef. A Guerlain spa on its own island got the Royal seal of approval – the resort is where the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge chose to check in on their first holiday sans George. The Four Seasons Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru Maldives The more remote of the Four Seasons’ two Maldives properties lies in the Baa Atoll and has 102 thatched sunrise or sunset beach and water villas edging the large lagoon. Known for its fantastic service, treats here include castaway picnics on deserted islands, tantric massages for two to awaken “kundalini energy” and dining on a private platform in the middle of a lagoon. There’s also the chance to visit virgin dive sites and uninhabited islands aboard luxury liveaboard The Four Seasons Explorer, a sleek three-deck catamaran. The land-based villas feel the most authentic and private. Mirihi Island Resort Mandhoo, Maldives An island retreat without the bravado associated with many of the extravagant new Maldivian resorts, Mirihi maintains a focus on its beautiful surroundings and prides itself on having one of the most fascinating house reefs in the Maldives – expect to see reef sharks, manta rays and green turtles. Opt for a water villa and the positioning is impressive. The shower room has full slide-away doors, opening up views to a vast expanse of Indian Ocean, and a private outdoor deck with direct access to the sea. here are four restaurants; each embodies a different ambience, yet taste and presentation prevail thanks to zealous head-chef, Felix. Conrad Maldives Rangali Island Maldives Despite being situated 30 minute sea plane ride from Male, the resort feels wonderfully remote. There are long stretches of sandy beach where, even in high season, you might not glimpse anybody else. For diving and snorkeling enthusiasts, large coral reefs full of glittering fish are just a short boat ride away. Each villa has been carefully designed for maximum privacy, with thoughtful touches such as candles in the bathroom. There is a wide range of activities on offer, from pedalo excursions to honeymooners’ favorite 'The Sandbar Picnic' – a day-trip on a yacht, with a drop-off on a deserted island where you can enjoy a romantic meal on the beach. Jumeirah Vittaveli, Maldives Vittaveli is a 20-minute motorized catamaran ride from Male’s airport island. There is an eclectic mix of architectural styles throughout the resort - most striking is the modernist Samsara restaurant with its dramatically angled roof and glass walls. The standard beach villas are spacious, with a generous bathroom area that extends to an open-air shower, l-shaped swimming pool and a small private garden with day bed and swing. Romantics can retreat to one of the seven humongous ocean suites that are accessible only by boat. Facilities on the island include an Asian-inspired spa, yoga classes, a gym, and an excellent water-sports center that makes good use of a thriving house reef.

The Glittering Sea of Stars in Vaadhoo, Maldives

00:46
If you have never experienced bioluminescent plankton--you have to. It is just unreal..an experience that looks like a page out of a fantasy book. Look at the water and it's glowing...bioluminescent plankton was EVERYWHERE. Along the beach and the sand would light up wherever you are, the water was glowing crazy... There weren't a few, the place was packed with them. It is something special...just...unbelievable.? Vaadhoo is one of the inhabited islands of Raa Atoll, Maldives. Vaadhoo island is famous for the 'sea of stars.' This marine bioluminescence is generated by phytoplankton known as dinoflagellates. Woodland Hastings of Harvard University has for the first time identified a special channel in the dinoflagellate cell membrane that responds to electrical signals—offering a potential mechanism for how the algae create their unique illumination. This is going on my bucket list of places to go before I die. Most Unique Beaches In The World

Maldives Islands

04:01
Maldives, officially the Republic of the Maldives and also referred to as the Maldive Islands, is an island nation in the Indian Ocean consisting of a double chain of twenty-six atolls, oriented north-south, that lie between Minicoy Island (the southernmost part of Lakshadweep, India) and the Chagos Archipelago. The chains stand in the Laccadive Sea, about 700 kilometres (430 mi) south-west of Sri Lanka and 400 kilometres (250 mi) south-west of India. For the majority of its history, the Maldives has been an independent polity, despite three instances during which it was ruled by outside forces. In the mid-15th century, for fifteen years, the Maldives was dominated by the Portuguese Empire. In the mid-17th century, the Dutch Empire (Malabar) dominated Maldives for four months. Finally, in the late 19th century, on the brink of war, the Maldives became a British protectorate from 1887 until 1965. The Dutch referred to the islands as the "Maldivische Eilanden" (pronounced [mɑlˈdivisə ˈɛi̯lɑndə(n)]),[citation needed] while the British anglicised the local name for the islands first to the "Maldive Islands" and later to the "Maldives". The islands gained independence from the British in 1965 and became a republic in 1968 ruled by a president and an authoritarian government. The Maldives archipelago is located on top of the Chagos-Maldives-Laccadive Ridge, a vast submarine mountain range in the Indian Ocean. Maldives also form a terrestrial ecoregion together with the Chagos and the Lakshadweep. The Maldives atolls encompass a territory spread over roughly 90,000 square kilometres (35,000 sq mi), making the country one of the world's most geographically dispersed. Its population of 328,536 (2012) inhabits 192 of its 1,192 islands. In 2006, Maldives' capital and largest city Malé, located at the southern edge of North Malé Atoll, had a population of 103,693. Malé is one of the Maldives' administrative divisions and, traditionally, it was the "King's Island" where the ancient Maldive royal dynasties were enthroned. The Maldives is the smallest Asian country in both population and land area. With an average ground level of 1.5 metres (4 ft 11 in) above sea level, it is the planet's lowest country. It is also the country with the lowest natural highest point in the world, at 2.4 metres (7 ft 10 in). Forecasts of Maldives' inundation is a great concern for the Maldivian people. The Maldives has pledged to become a carbon-neutral country by 2019. The Great Barrier Reef - is the world's largest coral reef system composed of over 2,900 individual reefs and 900 islands stretching for over 2,600 kilometres (1,600 mi) over an area of approximately 344,400 square kilometres (133,000 sq mi).The reef is located in the Coral Sea, off the coast of Queensland, Australia. The Great Barrier Reef can be seen from outer space and is the world's biggest single structure made by living organisms. Islands of the Great Barrier Reef This reef structure is composed of and built by billions of tiny organisms, known as coral polyps. It supports a wide diversity of life and was selected as a World Heritage Site in 1981. CNN labeled it one of the seven natural wonders of the world. The Queensland National Trust named it a state icon of Queensland. A large part of the reef is protected by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, which helps to limit the impact of human use, such as fishing and tourism. Other environmental pressures on the reef and its ecosystem include runoff, climate change accompanied by mass coral bleaching, and cyclic population outbreaks of the crown-of-thorns starfish. According to a study published in October 2012 by the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the reef has lost more than half its coral cover since 1985. The Great Barrier Reef has long been known to and used by the Aboriginal Australian and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and is an important part of local groups' cultures and spirituality. The reef is a very popular destination for tourists, especially in the Whitsunday Islands and Cairns regions. Tourism is an important economic activity for the region, generating over $3 billion per year. Subscribe to updates!

As night falls on certain beaches around the world, the waves glow with an eerie blue light, neon dots that make it look as though stars are washing up on shore. What you’re seeing is actually millions of microscopic organisms called bioluminescent phytoplankton. Some of the most spectacular photographs have been captured from one location, Vaadhoo island, Maldives, which has been nick named the sea of stars. The Maldives is a tropical nation in the Indian Ocean composed of 26 ring-shaped atolls, which are made up of more than 1,000 coral islands. Welcome to the View from Above! A series where we take you on a Journey to some of the most beautiful places on earth! Witness the gem on the Indian Ocean, the Maldives, with a view from above. This video was shot using DJI unmanned recreational drones. From above one can truly witness the beauty and scale of the Maldives islands as the UAV sweeps over virgin, white beaches, deep, blue oceans and ornate, stilted resorts. Capturing the island nation from perspectives that have never been experienced is not only unique, but truly breath-taking. Wherever you go, go with all your heart. These are wise words coming from a Chinese political philosopher over 2500 years ago, but travel was a topic that Confucious was genuinely experienced in. Members of the ancient Chinese empires travelled the globe extensively, frequently criss-crossing the Indian Ocean in search of trade and the promise of wealth. Many Chinese traders had made landfall along the numerous, populated islands that dot the Laccadive Sea, South-West of India and Sri Lanka. The friendly and hospitable locals would have called themselves “the people from the Garland Islands”, a chain of islands that are known in Sanskrit as Maldives. The Maldives is unlike any other island state. The islands are a collection of atolls, or submarine volcanic ridges, that only just break sea-level. This means that the islands, at their highest points, are just 2m above sea-level, and because they are not volcanically active, they are shrinking in size. Unfortunately, the Maldives are unlikely to be around for very long. Due to the extreme circumstances of global warming, the rise of sea levels means that by the year 2100 the Maldives will be all but blanketed by the blue Indian Ocean waters. Read more here: http://www.theguardian.com/environmen... So before Maldives departs, likely after our lifetimes, even with the onset of modern medicine, how about planning that tropical island vacation. It may not take a rocket scientist to notice that tourism makes up the largest portion of the country’s GDP, but it may come as a surprise that tourism makes the nation so much money that they propose to buy land in foreign countries once the sea takes over. If you find this hard to believe, read here: http://oilprice.com/Latest-Energy-New... Maldives can only be accessed through Male’, the island nation’s capital. Male’ has a population of 150 000 people, but the surprising fact is that all 150 000 people, plus additional tourists, inhabit an area of only 6 square kilometres. From birds-eye-view the island is a cluster of buildings and sky-risers that literally teeter on the edge of the ocean. You’ll be lucky to find any picturesque beaches here, but the city does uncover the rich and vibrant culture of the Maldivians. When in Male’ make sure to visit the famous Fish Market where experienced mongers cut and clean huge tuna in seconds. Also look out for the two symbols of Islamic prevalence in the Maldives, the Friday mosques, or take a trip to the semi-artificial island of Hulhumale to Male’s North. Male’ is the perfect place to book fishing safaris, while snorkelling and diving is best left to the smaller islands in the archipelago. If beaches are your thing, then hit the white sands and calm turquoise beaches on Maafushi Island. With over 30 guest houses and hotels this island is not yet overpopulated, and offers a great relaxing island vibe. The trick is to find a reasonable island resort, and once that is said and done then the visitor can make the Indian Ocean their playground, snorkelling and diving to their heart’s content.
