Technology articles. 2017 Latest updates

10:56
This video walks through searching Education Source and ERIC for articles on a specific topic- integrating technology in the classroom. Robots - 2016 News and Articles - Robotic Technology(Full Documentary) As humans, all of our greatest dreams and biggest fears about technology seem to be provoked by the stirring topic of robotic technologies. Robots have the potential to eliminate a great amount of monotonous work, provide assistance to human workers and serve in highly specialized environments, like hospitals or factories. At the same time, people can be concerned with how this technology will change daily life and worry about increasing isolation among humans or the loss of a job as a result. Even major names in technology development have showed signs of being spooked by robotics. In a talk given at a technology symposium held at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk called robots the “biggest existential threat” to the human race, even arguing for national and international regulatory oversight on artificial (AI) development. Musk is even an investor in robotics, having put money into the AI development firm Vicarious, making his unease over the negative potential of robotics all the more telling. This holiday season, robots will likely have a much higher profile than they typically enjoy. Retail stores will prove to be a major testing ground for the consumer use of robotic technologies, as Lowe’s recently unveiled a lineup of robotic sales assistants, known as OSHbots, for certain stores. The robot can communicate in multiple languages and can direct customers to the exact location of an item they’re seeking in the store. Collision avoidance and autonomous navigation technologies are incorporated into these sales assistants, helping them travel across large stores safely. Robots have been here for a while but will likely be taking a much greater role in our daily lives. As we found in researching this technology, there are those who still believe that the utopian robotic future of The Jetsons is still very much within our grasp. In today’s article, we’ll look at some of the current activities in robotic development, break down some of the issues facing robotics technologies in our world and view some of the most recently issued patents from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to protect inventions in this field. Each of the 26 volumes explores a major topic of the natural sciences. They are intended for, and written at a level appropriate to, an educated lay readership. In each volume, the text of each of eight chapters is followed by a "Picture Essay" lavishly illustrating the subject of the preceding chapter. They were available in a monthly subscription from Life magazine. Each volume takes complex scientific concepts and provides explanations that can be easily understood. For example, Einstein's theory of relativity is explained in a cartoon about a spy drama involving a train traveling very close to the speed of light; probability is explained with poker hands; and the periodic table of the elements is conveyed with common household items. Although progress has overtaken much of the material in the more than 50 years since their publication, the series' explanations of basic science and the history of discovery remain valid. The consulting editors of the series are microbiologist René Dubos, physicist Henry Margenau, and physicist and novelist C. P. Snow. Each volume was written by a primary author or authors, "and the Editors of LIFE". The volumes are: Matter (1963), by Ralph E. Lapp Energy (1963), by Mitchell Wilson Mathematics (1963), by David Bergamini The Body (1964), by Alan E. Nourse The Cell (1964), by John E. Article Writing | What is article writing in the English language? | Class 9 English The students will be asked to attempt a long piece of the composition of minimum 100-120 words in length. The composition will be in the form of an article. The students may be provided with verbal or visual input. They can take help from the given input, information or notes and can expand them in their own language to 100-120 words. Sometimes the given input can be in the form of a figure, a diagram or a cartoon. The aim of the examiner by inserting an input is only to provide clues along which the article has to be developed. The subject on which the article can be based may be burning social, cultural, economic, ethical, behavioral, religious and political issues. You may be asked to write an article on any topic under the sun. GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR ARTICLE WRITING 1. Always study the given input, information or notes carefully. 2. Arrange them in a systematic order. 3. Develop each point in a simple, grammatically correct language. 4. Your article must present your ideas not in a sketchy but in a coherent and logical manner. Develop your writing into paragraphs. 5. Confine yourself to the given subject. Superfluous and unnecessary details must be avoided at all cost. How scientists solved this dinosaur puzzle

We’ve never found a fully intact T. Rex, but we know how to build one. This video is presented by Wix: https://www.wix.com/go/vox Join the Video Lab! http://bit.ly/video-lab When paleontologists uncover a dinosaur they usually only find part of the animal, but when we walk through a museum we see exhibits that paint a full picture – so how do they fill in all those blank spaces? In the early 1900’s artists used to hand carve the pieces, but we’ve come a long way in the past century  – both technologically and scientifically. Now, we’re living in what some call a “golden age” for paleontology. Researchers are uncovering nearly one new species of dinosaur a week – making building exhibits easier and more efficient. Norell’s newest exhibit at the American Museum of Natural History called T.Rex: The ultimate predator is open through August 9th 2020: https://www.amnh.org/exhibitions/t-rex-the-ultimate-predator If you want to learn more about the Brontosaurus mishap and revival you can read the study here: https://peerj.com/articles/857/ Throughout the research, I also found this really awesome interactive graphic that show where and when various fossils were found: https://paleobiodb.org/navigator/ Note: The headline for this video has been updated since publishing. Does Science Argue for or against God?

05:44
Why are we here? Literally. The latest science says we shouldn’t be. It says that the chance life exists at all is less than zero. So, is science the greatest threat to the idea of Intelligent Design or is science its greatest advocate? Best-selling author and lecturer, Eric Metaxas, poses this intriguing question and comes up with a very unexpected and challenging answer. The cover reflected the fact that many people had accepted the cultural narrative that God is obsolete -- that, as science progresses there is less need for a "God" to explain the universe. It turns out, though, that the rumors of God's death were premature. In fact, perhaps the best arguments for his existence come from -- of all places -- science itself. Here's the story: The same year Time featured its now-famous headline, the astronomer Carl Sagan announced that there were two necessary criteria for a planet to support life: The right kind of star, and a planet the right distance from that star. Given the roughly octillion planets in the universe -- that's 1 followed by 24 zeros -- there should have been about septillion planets -- that's 1 followed by 21 zeros -- capable of supporting life. With such spectacular odds, scientists were optimistic that the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence, known by its initials, SETI, an ambitious project launched in the 1960's, was sure to turn up something soon. With a vast radio telescopic network, scientists listened for signals that resembled coded intelligence. But as the years passed, the silence from the universe was deafening. As of 2014, researchers have discovered precisely bubkis, nada, zilch, which is to say zero followed by an infinite number of zeros. What happened? As our knowledge of the universe increased, it became clear that there were, in fact, far more factors necessary for life -- let alone intelligent life -- than Sagan supposed. His two parameters grew to 10, then 20, and then 50, which meant that the number of potentially life-supporting planets decreased accordingly. The number dropped to a few thousand planets and kept on plummeting. Even SETI proponents acknowledged the problem. Peter Schenkel wrote in a 2006 piece for Skeptical Inquirer, a magazine that strongly affirms atheism: "In light of new findings and insights . . . . We should quietly admit that the early estimates . . . may no longer be tenable." Today there are more than 200 known parameters necessary for a planet to support life--every single one of which must be perfectly met, or the whole thing falls apart. For example, without a massive, gravity-rich planet like Jupiter nearby to draw away asteroids, Earth would be more like an interstellar dartboard than the verdant orb that it is. Simply put, the odds against life in the universe are astonishing. Yet here we are, not only existing, but talking about existing. What can account for it? Can every one of those many parameters have been perfectly met by accident? At what point is it fair to admit that it is science itself that suggests that we cannot be the result of random forces? Doesn't assuming that an intelligence created these perfect conditions in fact require far less faith than believing that a life-sustaining Earth just happened to beat the inconceivable odds? Life Flight: An Aerial Tour of BYU's New Life Sciences Building

02:39
From broad views of the valley to microscopic glimpses of mitochondria, BYU’s Life Sciences Building provides a new home for observing the grandeur of the living world. Running down the south hill of the BYU campus, a river of glass carves a path through a mountain of concrete and steel, cascading between towering redbrick columns to the street below. The central atrium of the new south gateway to campus provides an apt metaphor: life-giving water animating the new home of the College of Life Sciences. The Life Sciences Building (LSB) came alive this fall with 265,000 square feet of teaching, research, and office space; a 240-space parking garage; and state-of-the-art labs where faculty and students will do everything from researching growth factors to transferring DNA sequences into new cells to studying fungal pathogens to pioneering cancer-fighting techniques. Housing five of the college’s seven departments, this custom-built home is all about openness, collaboration, and interaction. Read the complete article at http://magazine.byu.edu/?act=view&a=3378.

Content Marketing and the Transformation of Life Science Marketing

28:23
What makes Content Marketing and the Transformation of Life Science Marketing different from a generic "how to guide" for content marketing? We've gone directly to life scientists to: -------------------------------------------------------- * Identify the types of online content that are most valued and relevant to their research * Uncover the information that they are willing share for personalization of content * Pinpoint the information that they are willing to share to get a steep product discount * Discover the types of online content most valued during each phase of the buying process * Recognize the life science suppliers most often tapped as sources of online content * Describe the strengths and weakness associated with online content available from life science suppliers Life science marketers cannot stop talking about content marketing. What exactly is it—the new advertising? For suppliers who want to develop a content marketing strategy that connects with customers, Content Marketing and the Transformation of Life Science Marketing (Report #14-005), provides in-depth examination of life scientists' preferences for online content. In an era where customers are rapidly taking the lead in the sales process, often completing 60% or more of the sales process before contacting a sales rep, what can life science suppliers do to influence the decision of which vendor to select? Life science suppliers have been creating great content for decades—websites, manuals, protocols, product selection guides, seminars, webinars, videos, to name but a few. How is content creation and deployment different today? Content marketing has been defined as a technique comprised of creating and distributing relevant and valuable content to attract, acquire, and engage a clearly defined and understood target audience. It is more than the four P's of marketing—price, product, promotion, and place. Marketers are challenged as never before to connect with scientists, capturing them intellectually while resonating with them emotionally. Content marketing ideally leverages the benefits of marketing automation with various digital media channels to establish and reinforce customer relationships. For suppliers who want to use content marketing to establish and strengthen their relationships with customers, Content Marketing and the Transformation of Life Science Marketing provides data-driven best practices to help optimize content marketing practices in such a way that strengthens relationships, inspires loyalty and calls a scientist to action. 23 Year-Old Girl Freezes Head Without Body to Live Forever

What if I told you that there might be a way to time travel? All you have to do is wait and chill for a couple of centuries. Easy right? Okay, it might be a little more complicated than that. In my last video, I talked about people miraculously surviving after being under ice for extended periods of time. In this video, we’re going to talk about people PURPOSELY freezing themselves through cryonics— a fancy word which here means the process of freezing a corpse and storing it until a theoretical time in the future when technology has advanced enough to bring the person back to life. Pfeiffer The Scientist (1964), by Henry Margenau and David Bergamini Machines (1964), by Robert O'Brien Man and Space (1964), by Arthur C. A Brief History of Geologic Time

12:08
Viewers like you help make PBS (Thank you 😃) . Support your local PBS Member Station here: https://to.pbs.org/DonateEONS By looking at the layers beneath our feet, geologists have been able to identify and describe crucial episodes in life’s history. These key events frame the chapters in the story of life on earth and the system we use to bind all these chapters together is the Geologic Time Scale. Thanks to Studio 252mya for their illustrations. You can find more of their work here: https://252mya.com/licensing Produced in collaboration with PBS Digital Studios: http://youtube.com/pbsdigitalstudios Want to follow Eons elsewhere on the internet?
