Interesting Astronomy: 10 Facts about Space and Exploration of the Universe
Astronomy is one of the oldest sciences, which helped and continues to help people find out more about the stars, far away planets and celestial objects, which may help find answers to some of the most unusual phenomena, which take place in Earth. Unlike at the times of Nicolaus Copernicus, Hans Lippershey, Galileo Galilei and Johannes Kepler, who used mostly observations and first prototypes of telescopes, today scientists have a larger array of tools, which may be used for studying space, planets, galaxies and the Universe as a whole. We have put together a list of fun facts from the history of space exploration and future plans in this field. The video includes such facts: - which astronomer invented the first telescope? - influence of the speed of light on how we see the stars; - discovery of the largest satellite in the Solar System; - the coldest known object in all of the Universe; - Great Red Spot or a storm in Jupiter’s southern Hemisphere; - Pistol Star as the largest star, known to the science; - how many stars are there in the Milky Way; - Quasars as the Universe’s most distant objects; - price for the construction of the International Space Station; - the first food grown and eaten in space; - what are space suits and EMU made of? - a planet, which has a surface made of diamonds; - how 3D printing may be used by astronauts.

5 Most Common Myths About Space
I bet many of you at one point dreamt about getting to outer space, witness meteors and asteroids passing by and find out what happens to a human inside a black hole. But in essence, most of our knowledge about the Universe is made up of random bits from Hollywood movies and science fiction books, which are often quite far from reality. We would try to dispel a few of these myths for you. So, these are six of most common myths about space.

5 "Impossible" Things That Can Happen On Other Planets
A lot of things happen on Earth, but there are still some things that just don't ever happen here. But, that doesn't mean that what's impossible here is impossible everywhere else in the universe. Whether it's clouds that rain rocks or glass, wind that's 29 times faster than sound, having 2 shadows or even being able to fly in some places, this is a collection of some of the most ridiculous places that we know of so far in our strange universe. This video was done in a collaboration with Second Thought, and you can check out his video here! If you're curious about flying on Titan and the research into that, I've attached a paper written by the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Leicester dated October 22nd 2013 which goes into a lot more detail than I could afford. 25 FACTS ABOUT SPACE And Space Exploration You Might Not Have Realized
Space is a crazy place. Although space and space exploration are often featured in our science fiction dramas and movies, most of us don't really know much about it. Space is a mysterious place filled with things that we don't understand like black holes, radiation, and asteroid belts. For as long as humanity has been around, space has played an important role in our lives. In fact, space and the stars have played a significant role in shaping the world today as we know it. Without the stars, sailors would not have been able to navigate on the open seas, causing trade and exploration to be severely crippled. It's crazy to think about, but countries in the Americas and Australasia would probably have looked significantly different without their European influence. Although that is an interesting thought experiment, it is not the topic of today's conversation. In this list we are going to be taking a closer look at that profound, black darkness that is always hanging over our heads. In spite of our near constant fascination with space, there are still many things left to discover about it. And although that is the job of scientists, these are 25 Facts About Space And Space Exploration You Might Not Have Realized! 25 Facts About Space And Space Exploration You Might Not Have Realized | List25 There is a water reservoir in deep space that holds 140 trillion times all of the water on Earth. Scientists at NASA have actually discovered stars that are cool enough to touch. After Earth, Venus's clouds are possibly the most habitable spot for humans in the Solar System. Tortoises orbited the moon before humans because the Russians sent them there to test one of their probes. The footprints left by the astronauts on the moon will stay there forever (or at least until something happens to the moon) because there is no atmosphere and therefore no wind. The Germans were actually the first to go into space with their V2 rocket. Speaking of going into space, typically space is seen to begin at 100km above the surface of the Earth. This is known as the Kármán line. This is the point where the atmosphere becomes too thin to support aeronautical flight because an aircraft would have to surpass orbital velocity in order to achieve sufficient lift. You can cry in space but your tears won't fall. They'll just...stay there. And then float away. The first creatures conceived in space were cockroaches. The Russians reported that they grew faster and stronger than their Earth bound counterparts. In space, the skin on the bottom of your feet starts to peel off because you are not walking around (the skin becomes soft due to not being used, so astronauts have to be careful when taking off their socks otherwise bits of skin will start floating around the ship!) Fun Google Secrets
GOOGLE HAS SOME REALLY COOL SECRET FEATURES THAT YOU CAN HAVE FUN WITH. When we think Google, most of us think search engine – a website where you type words and phrases in a text box and it gives you a bunch of search results that you might find useful. But not everything that Google’s search engine can do is necessarily useful. If you type in the right phrase, you can find different Easter eggs that are there simply for the fun of it. Here's are just some of the secret Google Easter eggs that are working as of spring 2016. EASTER EGG #1 Type ''Do a barrel roll'' in the Google search box and hit enter! The page will do a single spin. EASTER EGG #2 Type in ‘’Google gravity’’, click on the first search result and watch the tumble to the ground. EASTER EGG #3 Google has a hidden game incorporated in its Chrome browser. You know that sad little dinosaur that shows up when there’s no internet connection. You can actually start a game with him by simply pressing the space button on your keyboard. EASTER EGG #4 Searching for "Super Mario Bros" shows a secret info card for Super Mario Bros on the Google search page. Drop a LIKE and SUBSCRIBE for more interesting and funny videos posted throughout EVERY WEEK! Music: Silent Partner - Dog and Pony Show Huma-Huma - Eureka SO SORRY FOR THE MICROPHONE POPPING. I AM A DUMBASS LMAO. IT WILL BE FIXED IN ALL FUTURE VIDEOS. Greetings my friends and welcome to the youniversalself channel. So for today’s video, I want to take a little trip out to space. OH YES. I mean there’s some basic things about space that we all learned about in school, but there are some really amazing things about space that a lot of us may not be familiar with. Because of this, I want to share some of my favorite interesting things about space, so lets just jump right into it! Number 1. So first off lets just take a look at our beautiful earth that we live on. Even though we can’t feel it, this beautiful blue ball is hurling through space at 67,000 mph as it revolves around the sun. Yes, right now. Can you believe that? Number 2 since many of us live in areas that are filled with light pollution, we don’t get to see the stars on a clear night in their full glory. And boy are we missing out. Heres what the clear night sky looks like to many of us due to light pollution. Heres what we would see if there were no lights. Number 3, see that giant line across the sky in that last picture? That’s OUR milky way galaxy, and this is our view from our position inside of it. Our galaxy contains around 300 billion + stars, and that’s only in our galaxy alone. See all that dust/smoke around it? Its actually not dust, its more stars. They appear darker because they are not as bright as the ones around them. Number 4. Now if that raised your eyebrow, get ready for this. See this? This is the hubble deep field. This picture from 1995, taken by the hubble space telescope, shows what space looks like far beyond our galaxy. Now you’re probably wondering why all these stars are different colors. But you are not looking at stars here. Each one of those dots are actually a galaxy, 3,000 of them in this picture, each containing around 300 billions + stars EACH. Oh yeah, and this particular photo represents around 1/24,000,000th of the whole sky. Number 5, speaking of stars. Here is our sun. Without our sun star, we would not be able to sustain life on this planet. Lets think about this for a second. Our solar system revolves around the sun, which is a star inside of the milky way galaxy. The milky way galaxy contains 300 + billion stars. The hubble deep field shows us around 3,000 galaxies, each containing around 300 + billion stars EACH. Still think we are the only life existing in the universe? 10 Fun Facts About America Even Americans Don't Know
How much do you know about the U.S.? Were you aware that the Library of Congress could have a record of some of your social media posts? Let’s see which of these 10 little-known facts about the United States will manage to surprise you the most! For example, in fact, there were actually 6 American flags placed on the moon during the Apollo landings. It’s unknown whether all those flags are still standing, but the ones that remain have most likely been bleached completely white, from exposure to radiation from the sun. Or what do you think America’s favorite drink is? Go ahead and guess down in the comments! Tea, coffee, soda, juice? If you think soda, you wouldn’t be entirely wrong since it was the top beverage choice for Americans until recently. Now, its crown has passed to…bottled water! TIMESTAMPS: Out-of-this-world flag 1:05 Americans on the moon 2:03 The greatest of the Great Lakes 2:52 The most visited museums in America 3:49 America’s favorite drink 5:03 The Library of Congress archives 6:05 “Hollywoodland” 7:09 Halloween craze 8:04 The Empire State Building lightning strikes 9:08 The Statue of Liberty 10:05 Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - In the U.S., you can see the Star-Spangled Banner waving in the wind at fast food joints, standing tall in people’s yards or attached to their houses, and printed on all kinds of stuff like clothing, pillows, and coffee mugs. - If Armstrong was the first, not many people know that the last man to walk the moon was Apollo 17 Commander Eugene Cernan. - With a surface area of about 31,700 square miles, this lake is about the size of South Carolina! And with a volume of 2,900 cubic miles, Lake Superior is big enough to cover the entirety of North and South America in a foot of water. - Both museums saw around 7 million visitors in 2017, making them tied for the #3 spot on the list of the world’s most visited museums. - In 2016, Americans consumed 88.8 gallons of coffee per capita! So, now you know why your favorite coffee shop is always so crowded! - The Library of Congress is the largest library in the world, holding over 167 million items like rare books, manuscripts, photographs, recordings, and plenty of other important and historic materials. - But when it was installed back in 1923, this iconic sign actually read “Hollywoodland” instead of “Hollywood.” It was originally meant to be a real-estate ad for an upscale district that was only supposed to stand for about a year and a half. - According to the National Retail Federation, more than 175 million Americans are estimated to participate in the holiday in 2018 and will spend around $9 billion. - The tallest building in America is the One World Trade Center at 1,776 feet. But for a long time, from 1931 to 1972, it was the 1,250-foot-tall Empire State Building that held this title. - A lesser known fact is that Lady Liberty looked quite different when she first arrived in New York from Paris. When the copper statue was completed and brought to America in 1886, it was more like the color of a penny. It carried scientific equipment that led to the discovery of the Van Allen radiation belt. On October 1, 1958, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) was formed and replaced the National Advisory Committee on Aeronautics (NACA). 13 Facts About Space That Will Blow Your Mind!
In this video i will tell you 13 Facts About Space That Will Blow Your Mind!. This video contains amazing/shocking/surprising/strange facts about space. Music: https://www.legendfromheaven.com Facts: 1) This is tricky one to get your head around but a year on Venus (that is the length of time it takes to complete one whole orbit around the Sun) is 224.7 Earth days. However it takes 243 Earth days to rotate on its axis just once. 2) Ancient astronomers once believed the Earth was at the centre of the Universe but now we know that the Sun is at the centre of our Solar System and our planets orbit the Sun. The Sun makes up 99.8% of the entire mass of the whole Solar System. One million Earths would be needed to be the same size as the Sun. 3) Even though Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun, it is not actually the hottest. Mercury does not have any atmosphere meaning that this planet is only hot in the daytime when it is directly facing the Sun. At this stage temperatures can rise to 425°C but at night the planet’s temperature can drop down to a freezing -180°C. Venus is the hottest planet. Its thick clouds trap the Sun’s heat causing Venus to be a sizzling 500°C all of the time! 4) This is an extraordinary statistic. It shows that human beings have to ramp up their solar energy capabilities as the energy provided by the sun is a massive untapped resource. Current solar technology only accounts for less than one-tenth of one percent of the energy used by everyone on the planet. The technology is still quite new relative to others and significant land is needed for solar panels that are large enough to absorb ample energy. It is worth noting that humans are taking advantage of the sun’s amazing amount of energy at an increasing rate. Our solar energy use has increased by 20 percent each year over the past decade and a half. 5) Most assume that an area as enormous as outer space would have some noise. Surprisingly, outer space is totally silent. This is due to the fact that sound waves require a medium in order to travel from one point to another. Outer space has no atmosphere to permit such travel. Astronauts can talk to one another and Earth-based personnel thanks to the use of radio waves. 6) You wouldn’t be able to walk on Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus or Neptune because they have no solid surface! 7) If you could fly a plane to Pluto, the trip would take more than 800 years! 8) An asteroid about the size of a car enters Earth’s atmosphere roughly once a year – but it burns up before it reaches us. Phew! 9) There are more stars in the universe than grains of sand on all the beaches on Earth. That’s at least a billion trillion! and many more in the video... -------------------------------------------------------------- Like our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/DesiScientistReal/ Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/DS_Asli

25 Useless Facts About Space That Are Still Cool To Know
Suggested by Delta Monkeys and chris argyropoulos Space is awesome, even astonishing, and there are many reasons to be excited about the discoveries which have already been made and continue to be made in the great beyond. But, this list isn't about the wonders of space or how cool the universe around us is. Rather, it's about a host of facts which are completely useless, random, or mostly irrelevant. (Though, if you're an amateur astronomer, you're likely to find all of these to be cool facts.) Did you know South Korea spent a million dollars just to make a stench-free plate of kimchi? How about how many human remains have been launched out among the stars? Or that a vapor cloud with water 140 trillion times more massive than all the water in our oceans combined exists? From the cost of a NASA space suit to a planet which is a massive engagement ring, there are plenty of facts we've learned about space that haven't really furthered our discovery or which are just plain pointless. Enjoy the worthlessness in this list of 25 25 Useless Facts About Space That Are Still Cool To Know.
