LOS ANGELES - I’m a Cuban American first generation, born and raised in Miami. In 2008 I was lucky to find a box hidden in my late grandfather’s house with a substantial amount of money. After many years of what I considered “the thought era” in my life, I quickly put the funds to work in hopes to correct my debts and life. With the last of the money I purchased a camera and 9 years later here I am. A self-taught photographer, artist, and entrepreneur. I’ve managed to make a business off of my ideas and concepts for almost a decade. I’m the creator of the Black Tape Project, founder of Paradise Challenge and Destination Cover both all-inclusive destination photo shoots. Because of my concepts I’ve been able to travel to over 30 countries and counting, I’ve been published in countless magazines, worked with directors like Michael Bay and recording artists like Rick Ross and some of the top dogs in the world. In 2008 I was an rookie photographer and I was working with a model that had suggested I tape her for the last look, I truly had no idea why she would want this but I tried to make her happy and attempted to use tape as wardrobe. Mind you she looked like 2 Christmas hams wrapped in rubber bands when I was done, I’d never show you these images! It sparked an idea in my head, the following weeks I asked a few models to let me practice on them and the designs started to evolve. (21 Feb 2019) Fendi paid tribute on Thursday to Karl Lagerfeld who died this week and was the Rome-based fashion house's creative director for 54 years. A video recorded before his death showing Lagerfeld being asked to draw himself as he appeared on his first day at Fendi played to the audience. "Well, that's prehistoric," the designer said. "In the 1960s, we didn't hold back." The fashion house said in notes for its Milan Fashion Week show that the Fall/Winter 2019-2020 collection "is the final collection designed by Karl Lagerfeld, representing a lifetime of dedication and creation from 1965 until today." Lagerfeld's grand finale emulated the designer's signature style, with striking high collars and the models wearing ponytails at the nape. Dolce & Gabbana is an Italian luxury fashion house founded in 1985 in Legnano by Italian designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. The two met in Milan in 1980 and designed for the same fashion house. In 1982, they established a designer consulting studio; in time it grew to become "Dolce & Gabbana". They presented their first women's collection in 1985 in Milan, where a year later their store would open its doors. In 1988, they launched a leotard line, and in 1989 they began designing underwear and swimming costumes. Dolce & Gabbana started to export their products to Japan and other countries including the United States, where they founded their own showroom in 1990. In 1992, the same year they presented their men's collection, they also launched their first perfume Dolce & Gabbana. They won the Woolmark award in 1991, and Perfume's Academy "Most Feminine Flavor of the Year" in 1993 for their fragrance Dolce & Gabbana Parfum. By the end of the 1990s, the company's revenues were around US$500 million and in 2003 their revenue reached $633 million. By 2005, their turnover was €600 million. We're in Studio City, California to explore an opulently designed home with the team at Mogul - an interior design store in Los Angeles. Partners in business and life - Thomas Piskitello and Neal Wagner - have created a home where every inch reflects their interests in timeless design and fashion. Every part of this approximately 6600 square foot home is a virtual showroom for their shared aesthetic. Shop the Open House look on Amazon: www.amazon.com/shop/openhousetv Subscribe to Open House TV on YOUTUBE: https://bit.ly/openhouseyoutubesub Open House TV INSTAGRAM: https://bit.ly/2T0aorL Open House TV TWITTER: https://bit.ly/2szkqEX Open House TV FACEBOOK: https://bit.ly/2TXSztC - Hello, I'm Neal Wagner. - And I'm Thomas Piscitello. NEAL WAGNER: Welcome to 3265 Oakdell Lane. - Or as we like to call it, Mogul Manor. NEAL WAGNER: We found this house in 1970. It was built by the Von der Ahe family, who own Vons grocery stores. Being that we are owners of MOGUL showroom here in Los Angeles, everything that you will see in the house is custom designed by us. - We reimagined it with an old Hollywood glamor sort of feel with a modern twist. - With this house being so massive and so many of our furnishings everywhere, maybe it's best just to divide and conquer. One thing about Thomas and I is that we love to entertain and throw over-the-top, decadent, Hollywood-glamorous parties. So when it came time to design the living room, we decided to do 14-foot Chesterfield sofas. It started to paint what old Hollywood could be. We found the chandelier in New York. Immediately, it just transformed the space. And then at Christmastime, we put on those little Swarovski bells. And we liked it so much, we decided to keep it up all year. The fireplace was here and we loved it so much. We darkened all the wood, and then we added all the mirrored panels to make it a little bit more glamorous. After cocktails in this beautiful living room, we like to invite our guests into our formal dining room. Follow me. So when guests come into this room, they're usually wowed by the black Venetian plaster on the walls and the pops of gold and white. What they normally comment on is the chandelier that Thomas designed, which has thousands of smoke-colored crystals on it. So my contribution to this space are these paintings. I call them my nest series. We like to take contemporary art and put it in a traditional setting. The centerpiece of the room is, of course, the fabulous dining table and chairs, which we custom make and designed. We decided to go with a glass table because of the amazing rug that's underneath it, which is a Kyle Bunting rug. And while I'm downstairs entertaining, Thomas is usually upstairs in our VIP room having his own little party in what we call the loft. - The upstairs VIP lounge loft is all about exclusivity. We've had countless parties where groups of people will just sort of sneak away, come up here, and have cocktails and play bartender, watch some movies, even pass out in the open bedroom. The space, in general, is an open floor plan. It's like a big loft apartment. I'm from the East Coast from New York, so for me, this is like a Tribeca loft. And actually, the pair of lamps are from the Woolworth Building in New York. The bronze gargoyles-- there were four of them, and two, we had converted into lamps. And at the far end is one of my favorite photographs from one of my favorite designers, Tom Ford, when he was running the House of Gucci. Welcome to the master bedroom. For me, what I love about the room most is everything is very tactile. I love texture and I love touching things. The walls are covered in suede, the beds in a very soft, buttery leather, that bedspreads in chinchilla. So everything just feels amazing and just looks very inviting. My personal pet project was this closet. The closet was inspired by iconic men. The rich, dark tones of black and ebony, and the big grand island in the center stocks everything, but looks quite impressive and is also a showplace to house the Murano horses. - This backyard oasis features something for everyone because in California, you have to take advantage of the amazing weather. It has a fire pit, two bars, a cabana for movie night, and I have to mention my two favorite moments-- it's the two chandeliers. That wraps it up for now. - Thanks for joining us on the tour. I hope you enjoyed it. - Bye.

In this week's Lap of Luxury, we visit Italian fashion brand Kiton. Never heard of it? When it comes to men's bespoke shirts and suits, Kiton is the best of the best plus one. In fact, that's the brand's motto. As the president of Kiton USA, Antonio Paone says in Italian: Il meglio del meglio piu uno. Kiton was founded in the 1950s in Naples, Italy, as a fabric merchant. In the 1960s, Antonio's uncle, Ciro Paone, transformed the brand into a tailoring business. Five generations later, Kiton has grown enormously. A $40 million flagship store is located on 54th Street in New York City. More than 700 tailors work for the brand. But quality fabrics and fine suiting are still the focus. Paone says you'll often see 500 tailors working by hand in the Kiton factory, but you'll never see a machine. Every Kiton suit is cut by hand, one by one, as suits were cut 50 years ago. Paone says the quality has not changed. The Robb Report agrees. David Arnold, senior vice president at Robb Report, says that nobody surpasses Kiton in terms of menswear. In the June Best of the Best issue of the magazine, Kiton was awarded best suit for its handmade quality and attention to detail. But that quality and attention will cost you. A basic bespoke suit at Kiton starts at $9,000. It's 100 percent wool, 200 grams, 14 micron. A 100 percent cashmere blue summer weight suit will also run about $9,000. The top level Vicuna fabric, 200 grams, will run $60,000. Paone says that material is truly the best of the best plus one. If it sounds outrageously expensive, he suggests coming in, taking a jacket and trying it on. Paone says when customers walk around in Kiton suits, and take their time to really feel the fabrics, they understand the incredible quality. Let's not forget about the custom shirts. They're also entirely made by hand. Customers can choose every detail: the color, buttons, threads, style and monogram. They start at $500 and run up to $1,200 for Sea Island cotton. The fabrics are all the best cottons, all Italian. In fact the only thing at Kiton that isn't Italian is the name. Paone says Kiton comes from "chitone," which is a Greek name for the fine linen tunics the Ancient Greek people used to wear to formal parties. --ALISON MORRIS

From Oscar de la Renta to Chanel, here are some of the most lavish and prestigious fashion brands. Subscribe to Hindered Thoughts http://goo.gl/d3U3RP 6. Chanel The high fashion wear company was introduced to the world back in 1909 by none other than Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel, otherwise known as “Coco Chanel.” This is where the brand gets its inspiration for the famously recognizable logo that is two interlocking C’s. The company specializes in creating haute couture for its wealthy clients but also for fashion models like Naomi Campbell, who once modeled for them, and actresses Marilyn Monroe, Keira Knightley, and Nicole Kidman. One of their most famous products is the perfume No. 5 de Chanel, along with the Chanel Suit. Today, Chanel is valued at being $6.8 billion dollars. An interesting fact to note is that Karl Lagerfeld, the creative director behind Fendi, happens to be the creative director for Chanel as well. 5. Prada Founded back in 1913 by Mario Prada, this fashion brand actually started out by manufacturing leather bags and trunks. It would then evolve into selling everything from clothing to perfume and even a brief stint of LG Prada cell phones. Though the brand may have broadened its inventory, it still spends the majority of its focus creating some of the world’s most exclusive handbags that only the rich and famous can possibly hope to afford. Mario Prada believed that women should not be involved in business so he excluded his own family members from getting involved. In a fantastic twist of irony, his son did not care to run the business so his daughter Luisa Prada took over as his successor and is now currently being run by her daughter Miuccia. 4. House of Versace The fashion empire that is the House of Versace all started with fashion designer Gianni Versace back in 1978. He created a brand that has been synonymous with elegance and simply oozes high fashion. His glamorous gowns have gone on to make a name for himself as a respected designer. Like the case of the famous black dress held with gold safety pins that actress Elizabeth Hurley wore back in 1994 to the premiere of Four Weddings and A Funeral. Sadly, Versace’s life was cut short in 1997 on the steps of his Miami mansion when he became the fifth and final victim of Andrew Cunanan. The tragic event will be the story behind American Crime Story’s season 2 titled: The Assassination of Gianni Versace. After his death, his sister Donatella became the new Artistic Director and has established a $5.5 billion company her brother would be proud of. 3. Gucci Started in 1921 by a Mr. Guccio Gucci, the company was originally dabbing in leather goods. It wasn’t until 19 years later when his son Aldo would take the company from being a one-stop shop into the fashion powerhouse that it’s now known for being. It’s Aldo that would usher in the era of the brand’s iconic “Bamboo Bag” and its “ready to wear segments.” In the 90’s, the company decided to bring American Fashion designer Tom Ford to revamp their women’s wear. He ended up helping launch the brand to where it is today. The fashion brand houses other well-known designers in its collections such as Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, and Yves Saint Laurent. If you’re in the market to do some shopping at this $12.4 billion brand, expect to spend at least $2,000. 2. Louis Vuitton This may come as a shock but the famous fashion brand has been around longer than you might have thought. Formed 163 years ago in 1854, a young man by the name of Louis Vuitton started out as an apprentice for a box-maker. Vuitton ended up becoming a well-known crafter of luxury trunks and opened up his own shop in Paris. He then ended up becoming the personal box-maker of Napoleon III’s wife, Empress Eugenie de Montijo. Fast forward years later and the company is now worth $28.1 billion with a generated revenue of $10.1 billion. Today, Louis Vuitton doesn’t make just trunks but designer handbags and clothing that can be spotted on the most famous of A-listers. 1. Balenciaga The beginning of Balenciaga’s reign began back in 1919 when it was established by its founder of the same name, Cristóbal Balenciaga. As a young child, Balenciaga became an apprentice to a tailor in his hometown of Getaria, Spain and would eventually get his formal training in Madrid. He would go on to create the House of Balenciaga and skyrocketed to success thanks to his artistic genius. He was hailed as the undisputed “ King of Fashion” and was highly respected among his peers which included the likes of Coco Chanel, Christian Dior, and Pierre Balmain. Balenciaga even helped train the likes of high-fashion designers Oscar de la Renta and Hubert Givenchy to name a few.
