Bootstrap 3 CSS Responsive Footer Tutorial

07:01
In this Bootstrap CSS Tutorial, I will show you how to design a responsive footer for your website using Bootstrap CSS, Font Awesome for Social Icons, and Google Web Fonts. The footer in this Bootstrap CSS tutorial is responsive meaning that it gets larger or smaller based on the device that it is being viewed from. This responsive footer consists of 4 columns; the first three columns contain navigation links, and the last column contains contact information and social media buttons. This tutorial is for beginners so I go through step by step everything from linking files in the head section to the css used to style the HTML elements of our footer. If the tutorial goes too fast for you, pause the video to write down some notes. I will be happy to assist, if you leave a comment. In this css tutorial, we use a bootstrap grid with four sections using the responsive class of col-md-3 to create 4 equal sized columns across our page. Bootstrap grid is a great way to organize your content so that it will be responsive. Since we used the class of col-md-3 (md for medium), our grid will display as stacked on small and extra small devices (responsive). Within the first three columns, we have navigation links. In the fourth column, we have clickable email and phone number links along with social media buttons. The social media icons use classes from font awesome. In this tutorial, we also use bootstrap classes to hide certain elements of our footer when we don't need them. For example, a horizontal bar which is only needed on mobile view. Please join my team if you require assistance: https://teamup.zone/team/bootstrap-css-girl I hope that you have enjoyed this Bootstrap 3 CSS Tutorial on Responsive Footer Design. WebVR, Variable Fonts and How To Learn CSS : FrontEnd news (6 Mar'19)

06:29
Hi! Let's talk today about WebVR, Variable Fonts and How To Learn CSS. I'm Anatol and you are watching the Good Parts of the Frontend development. If this is your first time here and you wanna learn Frontend and JavaScript, start right now by subscribing and don’t forget to turn on the subtitles. 1) https://addyosmani.com/blog/script-priorities/ Addy Osmani posted an article titled "JavaScript Loading Priorities in Chrome." The author compares the different browser approaches regarding a script's scheduling and executing, how they can impact the performance of the pages. 2) https://medium.com/@me_37286/yoni-goldberg-javascript-nodejs-testing-best-practices-2b98924c9347 Yoni Goldberg in his turn posted a collection of 30 best practices for better Node and JavaScript testing, continuous integration, and overall quality. Some examples are illustrated using Jest, others with Mocha . 3) https://dev.to/addyosmani/web-page-usability-matters-3aok "Web Page Usability Matters." As an author noted users could expect pages to be interactive soon after they're visually ready. But how to measure that exactly in 2019? Don't limit yourself by "Document Content Load" and "Document Ready" events. There are more meaningful options. 4) http://thecodebarbarian.com/for-vs-for-each-vs-for-in-vs-for-of-in-javascript.html The Code Barbarian posted a new tutorial on his blog. "for vs forEach() vs for/in vs for/of". It is an overview of the difference between these looping constructs using several different edge cases. 5) https://developers.google.com/web/updates/2019/02/rendering-on-the-web The very next point in my list is an article namely "Rendering on the Web." Here you can learn about Server Rendering vs. Static Rendering. You can read about CSR, rehydration, or pre-rendering. 6) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMuYaES4W3o This video is about how JavaScript stacks up against C and WebAssembly, what kind of code is fast. Here you can find some insights regarding JavaScript performance. 7) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luAqYCd_TC8 "Variable Fonts and the Future of Web Design." In this video, Mandy Michael talks about the role variable fonts can play in design, performance, accessibility, and usability. 8) https://www.smashingmagazine.com/2019/01/how-to-learn-css/ Rachel Andrew posted a comprehensive guide "How To Learn CSS." This article aims to outline the critical fundamentals of CSS and resources for further reading on critical areas of modern CSS development. 9) https://hacks.mozilla.org/2019/01/designing-the-flexbox-inspector/ The history of creating the flex inspector in the Firefox debugger: "Designing the Flexbox Inspector." Victoria Wang wrote about the implementation from the idea to its shipping in Firefox 65. 10) https://nodesecroadmap.fyi/ Taking into account the recent scandal with "flat-map" draw your attention to "A Roadmap for Node.js Security." It is a detailed review of Node projects' security alerts and an overview of protections. 11) https://arunmichaeldsouza.com/blog/aliasing-module-paths-in-node-js "Aliasing module paths in Node JS" by Arun Dsouza is a perfect guide on how to avoid a relative party hell using symlinks in your OS or using native mode module. Also, an author proposed four alternatives to that approach. 12) https://areknawo.com/your-webgl-aiders/ WebGL is an API used to create visual effects just in your browser. "Your WebGL aiders" is a brief review of the most popular and most used libraries for video games or WebVR programming using WebGL. 13) http://gpu.rocks/ One more point in my list regarding WebGL is "GPU.js: GPU Accelerated JavaScript." GPU.js can automatically compile JavaScript functions into shader language and run them on the GPU for added performance in certain situations. 14) https://overreacted.io/the-bug-o-notation/ In the post "The “Bug-O” Notation" Dan Abramov muses about the "Big O." The "Big O" notation helps to estimate the complexity of our algorithms. The author urges us not to underestimate the influence of a "slow down" while a codebase grows. 15) https://www.invisionapp.com/inside-design/the-8-most-important-ui-animations-of-all-time/ The last but not least point for today is an article "The eight most important UI animations of all time." There aren’t a lot of things that bind us all together, but the blinking cursor is unforgettable. If you like this video give it "thumbs up". Thanks for watching and stay curious. CSS Variables - Sass to the rescue for fallbacks

12:47
CSS Variables and fallbacks are not elegant, as we just saw in the last video. Luckily, we can use Sass to help us out in this. This solution was heavily influenced from this post here: https://vgpena.github.io/winning-with-css-variables/#easier-fallbacks-with-sass CodePen: https://codepen.io/kevinpowell/pen/40864b1265e914cbd9efbbc6f9af7e41?editors=0100 Don't know much (or anything) about Sass and want to learn more? I've got a course just about Sass! kevinpowell.co/learn-sass --- My Code Editor: VS Code - https://code.visualstudio.com/ How my browser refreshes when I save: https://youtu.be/h24noHYsuGc --- Support me on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/kevinpowell I'm on some other places on the internet too!
