15 MOST Luxurious Fashion Brands

11:15
From Oscar de la Renta to Chanel, here are some of the most lavish and prestigious fashion brands. Subscribe to Hindered Thoughts http://goo.gl/d3U3RP 6. Chanel The high fashion wear company was introduced to the world back in 1909 by none other than Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel, otherwise known as “Coco Chanel.” This is where the brand gets its inspiration for the famously recognizable logo that is two interlocking C’s. The company specializes in creating haute couture for its wealthy clients but also for fashion models like Naomi Campbell, who once modeled for them, and actresses Marilyn Monroe, Keira Knightley, and Nicole Kidman. One of their most famous products is the perfume No. 5 de Chanel, along with the Chanel Suit. Today, Chanel is valued at being $6.8 billion dollars. An interesting fact to note is that Karl Lagerfeld, the creative director behind Fendi, happens to be the creative director for Chanel as well. 5. Prada Founded back in 1913 by Mario Prada, this fashion brand actually started out by manufacturing leather bags and trunks. It would then evolve into selling everything from clothing to perfume and even a brief stint of LG Prada cell phones. Though the brand may have broadened its inventory, it still spends the majority of its focus creating some of the world’s most exclusive handbags that only the rich and famous can possibly hope to afford. Mario Prada believed that women should not be involved in business so he excluded his own family members from getting involved. In a fantastic twist of irony, his son did not care to run the business so his daughter Luisa Prada took over as his successor and is now currently being run by her daughter Miuccia. 4. House of Versace The fashion empire that is the House of Versace all started with fashion designer Gianni Versace back in 1978. He created a brand that has been synonymous with elegance and simply oozes high fashion. His glamorous gowns have gone on to make a name for himself as a respected designer. Like the case of the famous black dress held with gold safety pins that actress Elizabeth Hurley wore back in 1994 to the premiere of Four Weddings and A Funeral. Sadly, Versace’s life was cut short in 1997 on the steps of his Miami mansion when he became the fifth and final victim of Andrew Cunanan. The tragic event will be the story behind American Crime Story’s season 2 titled: The Assassination of Gianni Versace. After his death, his sister Donatella became the new Artistic Director and has established a $5.5 billion company her brother would be proud of. 3. Gucci Started in 1921 by a Mr. Guccio Gucci, the company was originally dabbing in leather goods. It wasn’t until 19 years later when his son Aldo would take the company from being a one-stop shop into the fashion powerhouse that it’s now known for being. It’s Aldo that would usher in the era of the brand’s iconic “Bamboo Bag” and its “ready to wear segments.” In the 90’s, the company decided to bring American Fashion designer Tom Ford to revamp their women’s wear. He ended up helping launch the brand to where it is today. The fashion brand houses other well-known designers in its collections such as Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, and Yves Saint Laurent. If you’re in the market to do some shopping at this $12.4 billion brand, expect to spend at least $2,000. 2. Louis Vuitton This may come as a shock but the famous fashion brand has been around longer than you might have thought. Formed 163 years ago in 1854, a young man by the name of Louis Vuitton started out as an apprentice for a box-maker. Vuitton ended up becoming a well-known crafter of luxury trunks and opened up his own shop in Paris. He then ended up becoming the personal box-maker of Napoleon III’s wife, Empress Eugenie de Montijo. Fast forward years later and the company is now worth $28.1 billion with a generated revenue of $10.1 billion. Today, Louis Vuitton doesn’t make just trunks but designer handbags and clothing that can be spotted on the most famous of A-listers. 1. Balenciaga The beginning of Balenciaga’s reign began back in 1919 when it was established by its founder of the same name, Cristóbal Balenciaga. As a young child, Balenciaga became an apprentice to a tailor in his hometown of Getaria, Spain and would eventually get his formal training in Madrid. He would go on to create the House of Balenciaga and skyrocketed to success thanks to his artistic genius. He was hailed as the undisputed “ King of Fashion” and was highly respected among his peers which included the likes of Coco Chanel, Christian Dior, and Pierre Balmain. Balenciaga even helped train the likes of high-fashion designers Oscar de la Renta and Hubert Givenchy to name a few.

A solution for a sustainable fashion industry | Fredrik Wikholm | TEDxGöteborg

14:21
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Every year we throw away 30 kg of clothes, and the textile industry is one of the world’s top 5 polluters. So, how can we make the fashion industry more sustainable? It’s easy, claims social scientist and Creative Director Fredrik Wikholm, we just need ethics, environment and economics to be buddies. With his new innovation “The Rag Bag” Fredrik challenges the business to take action now, before it’s too late. It was the creative mindset and will to change, rather than skills in textile design that brought Fredrik Wikholm and his snowboard collective to start up a fashion brand that focused on sustainability. Now he’s taking recycling to the next level with an open-source innovation institute to pave ways for the fashion industry to make more sustainable choices. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

How Zara Took Over The Industry Using Fast Fashion

04:02
Today, we’re going to look at the history of Zara, its parent company Inditex, and the fashion industry in general, to see how it became possible to create such a high churn rate in the fashion industry. An average American will throw away 77 pounds of clothing every year. And that’s true across the majority of the western world. That is two suitcases of clothes, just dumped. Zara’s first store opened in 1975, in a city called A Coruna in northern Spain. Owners Amancio Ortega and Rosalia Mera had wanted to name it after a favorite Greek film called Zorba the Greek, but a bar on their street had already beat them to the punch, so they settled for Zara, since they had already had the letters made for the sign. Inditex was set up in 1985 as holding company for Zara and the manufacturing plants. They went on to set up and take-over many other high-street brands that follow Zara’s format; such as Pull and Bear, Bershka and Stradivarius. They now have over 6000 stores globally. Zara’s early business model was to create similar copies to high end lines but at an affordable price. As they expanded through Spain, Ortega pushed the idea of instant fashion, where Zara could react incredibly quickly to new trends so they could put new lines on the shelves in a fraction of the normal time. -----------------Support the channel: Support this channel: https://www.patreon.com/alexberman SUBSCRIBE for more videos like this: http://youtube.com/alxberman?sub_confirmation=1 Check out our Digital Agency Marketing Podcast: https://itunes.apple.com/hr/podcast/digital-agency-marketing-1/id1200614219?mt=2&ls=1 Need lead generation or marketing support for your agency? Alex Riley thinks he's immune to brands. When it comes to fashion, technology and food brands he just goes for the cheapest and what works for him. He's convinced he's not seduced by the advertising, celebrity endorsements and hype which surrounds the big global brands. So how did that pair of Adidas trainers get in his wardrobe? And how did that can of Heinz Baked Beans make it into his shopping trolley? And why does he have a Nokia mobile phone in his pocket rather than any other make? With the help of marketeers, brain scientists and exclusive access to the world of the superbrands Alex sets out to find out why we buy them, trust them, even idolise them. Eco Fashion Brand is Upcycling Over 100,000 Sweaters Every Year - Slow Fashion

05:10
In this video, we meet Julia Grieve, the founder of preloved, which is a Toronto-based eco-fashion brand that creates clothing using second-hand vintage wool sweaters, rolls of deadstock fabric, and other sustainably sourced materials. Preloved was founded in 1995 and has been upcycling and reusing an average of 100,000 sweaters each year. These secondhand sweaters are usually destined for the landfill, but preloved buys them from rag house clothing sorters and deconstructs them into fabric they can use to design new sweaters. In addition to sourcing sustainable materials for all of their clothes, the brand has also made a conscious decision to manufacture their clothing in Canada instead of outsourcing the work overseas. Their clothes are made by people who are paid a good wage and who have a positive and safe working environment. Mat and I were impressed with the incredible work that preloved does to design and create clothing with minimal impact on the environment, and without exploiting it's workers. One of the reasons we've been inspired to look into ethically made and environmentally friendly clothing is because of The True Cost documentary (http://truecostmovie.com) that we recently watched about the incredibly devastating impact the fast fashion industry has on the planet. We wrote a blog post with tips about how to create an ethical wardrobe here: http://www.exploringalternatives.ca/how-to-create-an-ethical-wardrobe/ You can also check out the incredible clothing line made by preloved here: http://www.getpreloved.com Thanks for watching! Artificial Intelligence Applications: 13 Areas AI Will Change Fashion Industry [CRITICAL]

12:31
Artificial Intelligence, is here to stay and is affecting all the major industries This tutorial walks you thru 13 areas where artificial intelligence is and could affect retail, beauty, clothing and fashion industry. 1. Supply Chain & Demand Projection: H&M announced that they were sitting on $4.3B of inventory, that is a lot of money that is sitting and being wasted. AI Solution: Using AI, it can use prediction analysis that which type of clothes, might not sell and create a combination of discounts, free shipping, product combo’s etc. to clear out the inventory that is most likely not to sell after a certain time period. Rue La La collaborated with MIT to experiment with AI technologies to improve demand forecasting. They developed a system that helped them predict the demand for products in their flash sales and accounted for data sources including brand information, product type, color, price and a range of other factors. This enabled them to optimize prices and generate a 10 percent increase in revenue without the extra burden of unused inventory or supplier costs.4 German e-commerce player Otto uses deep learning to analyze billions of transactions and is 90 percent accurate in forecasting what it will sell in the next 30 days. This insight allows it to order a couple of hundred thousand items each month from vendors with no human intervention. It has also cut surplus stock by 20 percent and reduced costly returns by 2 million items each year. 2. Photos for a new collection When you create new clothing line or launch a new collection, you have to take photos of all items to be posted on your website. It can be extremely cost sensitive because it involves models, photographers, makeup artists etc and you have ot manage their schedules and re-shoots can be a pain in the ass. There are AI companies that are enabling retailers to shoot images by putting clothes on mannequins and then replacing the mannequin with the 3D Image of the actual model. They did 3.GAP: Sorting Orders at Warehouse When you order a product on GAP or Amazon or any other online retailer, there are actual people on the other side picking and sorting products for you. It is a huge cost for because retailers have to pay them, it takes a longer time to sort products and most warehouses can’t function 24/7. AI Solution: GAP is testing and working with Kindered AI to train robots to pick and sort its products. * Imagine: Robots pick items of different sizes, puts them together in a nice box and drone brings it to your door. 4. Inventory Checks and Re-stocking Problem: today human beings go visit the racks and check if items need to be restocked. AI Solution: Camera’s and sensors can automagically sense what is missing and needs to be restocked and can pre-order it for you. And they can pair the understanding of the seasons, sales data etc to make sure they only order the item that is more likely to sell. And instead of getting new items manufactured, they can check if that item or similar item exists at other locations but its probability of selling at that location is low it, it can order it from there or ship it to the customer from there. 5. AI Designing Clothes Amazon is developing AI that combines hundreds of thousands of designs, fabrics etc to create something new that it interprets that could sell. Myntra’s brand Moda Rapido is powered by AI and works without human intervention to offer computer-generated designs, including T-shirts, jeans, kurtas, and shoes. The system is fed data from various sources, including customer data, social media, fashion publications etc., and creates thousands of combinations of designs, then hones in on what would sell well. It now has the highest gross margins compared to all other 14 brands under the Myntra portfolio. 6. Trend Forecasting Trend forecasting is big business. There are companies such as WGSN does that. They have employees that go thru thousands of images, look for patterns, new trends and sort them out to do trend forecast. AI: Analyzing which images, colors, style of photos that didn’t exist before but are getting high engagement. Combine that with data from hashtags, location, influencer, color distribution etc. AI can help analyze & predict upcoming trends.

How Bonobos Is Disrupting The Men's Fashion Industry [Disruptive]

02:30
[Sponsored by Strayer Education] http://www.strayer.edu/new-homepage?MarketingCode=DG267 Who says there’s only one way to do something? Not Bonobos. The company disrupted the retail market and said, "Hey, there’s gotta be an easier way." And if there’s anything a guy loves, it’s a way to make life easier. Traditional retailers are burdened with stocking costs and space constraints, and customers are often overwhelmed with their experiences and frustrated with hearing, “Sorry, we don’t have your size,” about everything they actually want. Bonobos revolutionizes the way traditional stores function. It's the e-tailer’s answer to traditional retail – a hassle-free shopping experience with highly personalized customer service. It offers a full selection of men’s clothing online and invites customers to complimentary Guideshop experiences with stylists to try on the collections in person so they can find the fits and styles perfect for them. Guys can order clothing off the website, and their purchases are shipped home. They can leave the store bag free. Shopping has never been so… easy. This is the first episode of the new series "Disruptive,” which highlights disruptive innovators sponsored by Strayer Education. For the second installment of Counterfeit Culture, Highsnobiety’s first-ever documentary series, we headed to Moscow to find what’s driving Russia’s thriving market for fake streetwear. Russia’s counterfeit industry stretches back decades, to when Communism isolated the country from Western products. Now, almost 30 years after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Russia’s borders are open, but a fragile economy, international sanctions and low wages has kept the country’s demand for fakes alive and well. It's the place where you find all the next big trends, the crème de la crème of fashion weeks. Georgio Peviani was getting loads of attention at PFW.
