Product managers drive the vision, strategy, design, and execution of their product. While one can often quickly comprehend the basic responsibilities of the role, mastering each of these dimensions is truly an art form that one is constantly honing. In this presentation I'll share my lessons learned over the last decade as a product manager in Silicon Valley on the art behind each of these dimensions of product management. Sachin Rekhi is a serial entrepreneur and product leader who has spent the last decade developing innovative products in Silicon Valley. Sachin most recently founded Connected, a professional contact manager that was acquired by LinkedIn in 2011 and re-launched as LinkedIn Contacts. He went on become head of product for LinkedIn Sales Navigator, LinkedIn's flagship offering for sales professionals. Prior to Connected, Sachin founded Anywhere.FM, a web music player that allowed users to upload, play, and discover music online, which was acquired by imeem in 2008. Sachin started his career at Microsoft as a product lead on Visual Studio, Microsoft's developer tools platform. Sachin recently left LinkedIn and has been advising early-stage startups on product strategy, design, and growth.

Steve Jobs' amazing marketing strategy - MUST WATCH

This is a very complicated world. It’s a very noisy world. And we’re not going to get a chance to get people to remember much about us. No company is! And so, we have to be really clear on what we want them to know about us. Now Apple, fortunately, is one of half-a-dozen best brands in the whole world. Right up there with Nike, Disney, Coke, Sony — it is one of the greats of the greats. Not just in this country, but all around the globe. But even a great brand needs investment and caring if it’s going to retain its relevance and vitality. And the Apple brand has clearly suffered from neglect in this area in the last few years. And we need to bring it back! The way to do that is NOT to talk about speeds and fees. It’s NOT to talk about bits and mega-hertz. It’s NOT to talk about why we are better than Windows. The dairy industry tried for 20 years to convince you that milk was good for you. It’s a lie, but they tried anyway. And the sales were falling. And then they tried “Got milk” and the sales went up. “Got milk” wasn’t even talking about the product. In fact, it focuses on the absence of the product. But the best example of all, and one of the greatest jobs of marketing that the universe has ever seen, is Nike. Remember, Nike sells a commodity. They sell shoes!!! And yet, when you think of Nike you feel something different than a shoe company. In their ads, as you know, they don’t ever talk about the product. They don’t ever tell you about their air soles and why they are better than Reebok’s air soles. What does Nike do in their advertising? They honor great athletes. And they honor great athletics. That’s who they are, that’s what they are about! Apple spends a fortune on advertising — you’d never know it….you’d never know it! So…when I got here, Apple just fired their agency and there was a competition with 23 agencies that…you know…four years from now we would pick one. And we blew that up and we hired Chiat\Day, the ad agency that I was fortunate enough to work with years ago and created some award winning work including the commercial voted the best ad ever made, 1984 (by Advertising Professionals). And…we started working about eight weeks ago, and the question we asked was, “Our customers want to know who is Apple and what is it that we stand for…where do we fit in this world?” And what we’re about isn’t making boxes for people to get their jobs done — although we do that well. We do that better than almost anybody, in some cases. But Apple is about something more than that! Apple at the core…its core value — is that, we believe that people with passion can change the world for the better. That’s what we believe! And we have had the opportunity to work with people like that. We’ve had the opportunity to work with people like you; with software developers, with customers, who have done it. In some big, and some small ways. And we believe that, in this world, people can change it for the better. And that those people who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world are the ones that actually do! And so, what we’re going to do in our first brand marketing campaign in several years, is to get back to that core value! A lot of things have changed. The market is in a total different place than where it was a decade ago. And Apple is totally different — and Apple’s place in it is totally different. And believe me, the products, and the distribution strategy, and the manufacturing are totally different…and we understand that. But values and core values — those things shouldn’t change. The things that Apple believed in at its core, are the same things Apple really stands for today. Click here to register for free and to view the entire webinar: http://xtalks.com/Practices-Global-Drug-Product-Labeling-Management.ashx?utm_source=YouTube&utm_medium=Teaser&utm_campaign=XT0776_Sciformix Speakers: Bindu Narang, Director of Scientific Writing and Regulatory Affairs, Sciformix Boris Jankowski, Director of Solutions Architecture, Sciformix Craig Trautman, CEO, Intagras Drug product labeling is continuing to grow both in complexity and strategic importance as the key document for communication of benefit: risk to health care professionals and patients. Life science companies not only have to ensure harmony of messaging from Core Data Sheet to Local Prescribing Information, but also track and document the implementation of labeling changes and any local variations. In addition, there is increasing pressure by Health Authorities to demonstrate overall performance, quality and compliance of the end-to-end labeling process. To address these challenges, a unified global labeling continuum that coordinates upstream (i.e. signal detection) and downstream (i.e. the printing and distribution of the label) activities requires an integrated services, process and technology model. This webinar will focus on translating current business drivers and challenges within the global drug product labeling domain into a set of opportunities and next-generation operating models that support scale, efficiency, quality and compliance. Viewers will learn: What is driving labeling complexity in terms of internal pressures, such as global expansion and evolving global health authority expectations What the future looks like with regards to the seamless integration of the end-to-end labeling process (from signal to package) coupled with external services and technology enablers How to assess the overall performance and quality of the labeling process

Best Management Practices in the Marketing and Management of a Biosolids Derived Biofertilizer

24:35
Over the last several years, a number of biosolids producers in Canada have implemented a post digestion biosolids hydrolysis process which produces a high solids EQ biosolids liquid that is injected at agronomic rates, mitigating potential for odors, dust and nutrient run-off while also increasing efficiencies of operations, therefore reducing application costs. The high solids liquid product can be custom blended to enhance the nitrogen concentration (and any other required nutrient), allowing the product to be applied based on phosphorus limits, while still meeting the nitrogen demands of the crop, which helps reduce phosphorus loading that is often associated with traditional biosolids programs. Subsurface injection of a high solids liquid EQ biosolids minimizes the nutrient losses due to runoff and volatilization, and does not require specialized equipment. This presentation will examine the phosphorus regulations adopted in Pennsylvania and Maryland, and how a high solids liquid EQ land application program will be impacted by these regulations.
Product Management: 5 Best Practices For Keeping A New Product On Track

When you start building a new product, you have the best of intentions to revise old processes and move away from bad habits. But it’s easier said than done. So this week we’re going to share some best practices for keeping a new product on track! And to help us out Lisa Doan and Vera Reynolds are back! You’ll recall Lisa is a product manager at Pivotal Tracker, and Vera is a software engineer at Pivotal Tracker. As you watch today’s episode you’ll learn the following: - Why it’s important to set a mission and vision for a product and what happens when you don’t - What being user-centric looks like in practice - How to create a balanced team and have members weight in on decisions during planning meetings - How to hold yourself and your team accountable inside a larger organization - How to remind people of best practices -- Build is produced as a partnership between Femgineer ((http://femgineer.com/) and Pivotal Tracker (http://www.pivotaltracker.com/). Storm Water Best Management Practices for Local Roadways

01:04:27
A research results presentation of the Ohio Research Initiative for Locals (ORIL) Program. PROJECT SUMMARY Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations require the implementation of storm water best management practices (BMPs) into roadway construction projects for post construction runoff. For local jurisdictions, the inclusion of these BMPs is difficult due to limited availability of space (i.e. right-of-way or easement). Urbanized areas pose additional challenges with the presence of sidewalks, houses, and businesses while many rural areas are faced with inadequate right-of-way widths. Further complicating the issue is the availability, or non-availability, of dedicated storm sewer systems in these areas. A variety of products are commercially available for storm water management and a tremendous amount of research has been performed to establish BMPs. ODOT's Location and Design (L&D) Manual Volume 2 outlines several BMPs that have been approved by the Ohio EPA for use on federal aid projects. While information on BMPs is available, it is not necessarily easily manageable or focused on local roadway applications. Through this research, a BMP selection tool, BMP case studies, and an annotated bibliography were developed to assist Locals with identification and BMP selection. The BMP tool is intended to facilitate the understanding of BMP requirements and considerations so Locals and designers can select and plan appropriate post-construction storm water BMPs. These research products will help Locals improve implementation of appropriate BMPs by providing resources to understand BMP characteristics with regard to footprint requirements, on-going maintenance, aesthetics, safety considerations, and other potential impacts to the construction project. Researchers: Mark McCabe, Tom Dietrich, Melanie Knecht, Tim Arendt, Gresham Smith and Partners Date recorded: September 8, 2015

Oil Palm BMP - Nursery Stage

14:55
The International Plant Nutrition Institute (IPNI) is a not-for-profit, science-based organization dedicated to responsible management of plant nutrition for the benefit of the human family. As a global organization, IPNI has initiatives addressing the world's growing need for food, fuel, fiber, and feed. Best Management Practices (BMP) for nutrient stewardship encourage the concept of applying the right product, at the right rate, at the right time, and in the right place. Agriculture in South Asia and Southeast Asia regions is under extreme pressure to deliver unprecedented productivity to meet demand, while facing increasing pressures for land and water resources from other sectors. In Southeast Asia both subsistence and plantation crops are seeing sustained price increases. These are anticipated to continue for at least the medium term. In both cases, agricultural growth must be contained within the same ecological footprint. Land is not available for expansion in many areas. Even where it is, society demands that agriculture should not take more land but improve productivity to produce more from the same or less land and water resources. The only option is to intensify production and this seems easily achievable through the more intelligent use of existing technologies, and specifically so, plant nutrition - yields and efficiency of plantations is far from the potential and highly patchy. The goal is therefore to support intensification of oil palm plantation agriculture, which enables it to produce more while not increasing its ecological footprint, or reducing it where and when required. IPNI has worked in close partnership with oil palm practitioners to conduct oil palm management research. The essential knowledge generated is shared and distributed via the IPNI Oil Palm Series of field handbooks, pocket guides, books and posters. Best Management Practices for Digital Projects 5 and 6

Follow Lee on Social Media ▸ website | https://www.marketingagencycoach.com/ ▸ facebook | https://www.facebook.com/leegoffdigit... ▸ twitter | https://twitter.com/Agency_Coaching ▸ LinkedIn | https://www.linkedin.com/in/leegoff/ -- So far we’ve given you practices to help streamline the project lifecycle, keep clients happy, prevent scope creep, and set proper expectation levels. Today we're going to give you the 5th and 6th BMPs. 5. Quick Wins Whenever you can, deliver easy products or services that give your clients the “Quick Wins.’ These are all of the little value adding things you can do for clients that only take 5 or 10 minutes of your time. Think of things like: - A quick dashboard report if you're doing ads - Setting up an image on a website - Doing a quick demo on how to edit something in Wordpress - Anything quick and easy that builds value! In every project, there will be a couple times to deliver quick wins. This can make a huge difference in the long run. When clients ask for some big change outside of the scope you can say, “Sorry that falls outside of the project scope and remember we already did XYZ.” This will help smooth things out and keep clients happy! Just make sure these quick wins don’t take up tons of your time. There’s a fine line between a quick win and scope creep, so make sure you don’t cross it. 6. Over Document Document anything and everything related to the project and make sure it goes through a centralized project management platform. To really cover your ass, avoid complications, and simplify communications I recommend following a single point-in, single point-out philosophy. This means one project manager and one client handle all communications that go through the project management platform. Following this philosophy will ensure that each party is always on the same page. When you have ten different people talking about ten different things it’s easy to confuse clients, through off expectation levels, and get the project sidetracked. So stick to single point-in, single point-out communications. -- In case you missed them make sure you watch the rest of the series: BMPs 1 & 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrhlFNd0Ivc&t=2s BMPs 3 & 4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_dsY... Project Management Simplified: Learn The Fundamentals of PMI's Framework ✓

50:41
✅The best jobs no longer go to the best candidates. Times have changed. They now go to the people with the best strategies. We transformed over 5,000 careers. Join me at LIG and let me show you how yours will be the next career transformed; https://goo.gl/chwjpr Welcome to this week's episode where I make project management simple for you. To make it applicable to the majority of the audience, I am teaching Project Management Institute's (PMI) project management framework. ________________________________________________ Textbooks and frameworks are always boring. So, to make project management more interesting for you, I ran a project to demonstrate what steps to take and when. You won't regret spending 50 minutes to learn the basics of a wonderful practice called project management. You can also download all the templates I used in the session here (no need to register); https://thecareermastery.com/career-tips/project-management-simplified/ Although I strongly recommend you watch the entire session without skipping, for those of you who are just looking for snippets of information, you may find below the index of the video; 03:03 What is a project, program, and portfolio and how are they different from operations? 04:08 Project = Project Life Cycle + Project Management Process 04:43 Project Life Cycle 06:52 Process Groups 09:27 LIG, PMP certification or CAPM certification, which one is right for you? [Hint: I am biased!] 11:53 Process Groups - Initiation 13:06 Process Groups - Initiation - Project Charter 16:50 Process Groups - Initiation - Stakeholder Identification 18:17 Process Groups - Planning 20:30 Process Groups - Planning - Collecting Requirements 22:45 Process Groups - Planning - Defining the Scope 24:41 Process Groups - Planning - Scope Baseline 25:12 Process Groups - Planning - Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) 32:22 Process Groups - Planning - WBS Dictionary & Scope Creep 34:39 Process Groups - Planning - Time Management / Developing a Schedule 36:00 Process Groups - Planning - Gantt Chart 37:38 Process Groups - Planning - Fast Tracking a Project & Project Crashing 38:52 Process Groups - Planning - Cost Management 39:42 Process Groups - Planning - Budget development (for PMP or CAPM takers) 41:02 Process Groups - Executing 42:04 Process Groups - Executing - Gold Plating 43:16 Process Groups - Monitoring and Controlling 45:00 Process Groups - Monitoring and Controlling - Earned Value 47:57 Process Groups - Closing Process Group _______________________________________________________________ What is even a project? It definitely has a sexy tone to it right? Project… I just love the way it sounds. I wonder how cool it must sound in French. Proje… Well, project is a temporary endeavor to create a unique solution. Yeah that’s operations. No Well, the difference between a project and operations is fairly simple. A project ends. So, it’s temporary. You implement your project, you close it, you create a unique product/service/ or whatever outcome you wanted then you are done. Whereas in operations, it’s on-going and repetitive. You may have also heard about the terms program and portfolio. Let me just quickly explain them here. Program is multiple projects put together. Combined. And Portfolio is similarly. Multiple programs put together. So, it’s project, program, portfolio. Now before I go further, and dive deep. You need to understand something crucial. To run any project, you need 2 methodologies. The first one is a project life cycle and the second one is project management process. Most people confuse these 2. And if these are not clear, you can kiss the PMP certification goodbye. It’s absolutely amazing how many content creators in YouTube confuse these two. They are not interchangeable. You cannot afford to confuse a project life cycle with a project management process. Don’t worry I am going to make it very simple for you. Let’s start with Project Life Cycle. Project Life Cycle is unique to a project, to an industry, to your needs. It’s highly customizable. Think of it like this; a human development is a project. So, your life cycle is; 1) Conceiving 2) Birth 3) Childhood 4) Teenage hood. Teenage hood. Is that a word? Teenaging? 5) Adulthood 6) And death Easy stuff right? So, now if it was an IT project. I am not an IT but it would like something like this; High-level design Detailed Design Coding Testing Installation And Turnover This is project life cycle. The term cycle is a bit confusing here. I think. But who knows. This video covers; project management project management institute pmp project management professional certification project life cycle project management PMI managing a project project management fundamentals fundamentals of project management project management for beginners project management course

Neonicotinoid Insecticides: Efficacy, Non-target Effects, and Best Management Practices

01:00:41
Recorded for on-demand May 22, 2017 by: Christian H. Krupke, Ph.D., Professor, Department of Entomology, Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN View the webinar at http://conservationwebinars.net to earn CEUs. Participants will learn about the efficacy and nontarget effects of neonicotinoid seed treatments and management practices that should be considered to minimize adverse impacts on pollinators and other nontarget organisms. Neonicotinoids (neonics), a class of neuro-active insecticides chemically similar to nicotine, are currently applied to virtually every corn, cotton, wheat, and canola seed planted in the United States, and most soybean seeds also are treated with neonics. Neonics are persistent and water soluble to facilitate plant uptake; however, they bind poorly to soil and only a small fraction what is applied to seeds gets into the plants. Thus, there is potential for groundwater contamination. Additionally, although they have low mammalian toxicity, use of neonics is restricted in some countries because of concern about their toxicity to honey bees, other beneficial insects, aquatic invertebrates, birds and other wildlife. In this webinar, participants will learn about the efficacy of insecticidal seed treatments and the potential routes of exposure for non-target organisms. Presenters will also offer guidance regarding management practices that should be considered to minimize adverse impacts on pollinators and other nontarget organisms. This webinar is presented by USDA NRCS Science and Technology. Captions (uploaded when available) are automated, so transcription errors may exist.
