This Sea-Craft Looks Like A Plane, Has A Car's Engine, And Docks Like A Boat

03:15
The AirFish-8 is an alternative method of sea transportation, combining the technologies of aviation and marine craft.  Company Wigetworks have created AirFish-8, a boat/plane hybrid that glides on water. Due to the machines unique structure, it is able to utilise what is known as the "Wing in Ground Effect." This is when an aircraft is able to produce additional lift when flying near the ground. AirFish-8 has a V8 car engine, which runs on unleaded petrol and can travel up to 121 mph; that's three times faster than typical marine craft.  The sea-craft is currently still in a trial phase but the company hope to have it fully operational by mid-2018. _________________________________________ Read more: http://www.businessinsider.com/sai FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/techinsider TWITTER: https://twitter.com/techinsider INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/tech_insider/

MOST FEARED maneuver in the air from Sweden Jet Fighter | Cockpit View

10:41
A great video (Cockpit View) of the Swedish military Saab Gripen military aircraft maneuver in the air. The Saab JAS 39 Gripen is a light single-engine multirole fighter aircraft manufactured by the Swedish aerospace company Saab. It was designed to replace the Saab 35 Draken and 37 Viggen in the Swedish Air Force (Flygvapnet). The Gripen has a delta wing and canard configuration with relaxed stability design and fly-by-wire flight controls. It is powered by the Volvo RM12 and has a top speed of Mach 2. Later aircraft are modified for NATO interoperability standards and to undertake air to air refueling. In 1979, the Swedish government began development studies for an aircraft capable of fighter, attack and reconnaissance missions to replace the Saab 35 Draken and 37 Viggen. A new design from Saab was selected and developed as the JAS 39, first flying in 1988. Following two crashes during flight development and subsequent alterations to the aircraft's flight control software, the Gripen entered service with the Swedish Air Force in 1997. Upgraded variants, featuring more advanced avionics and adaptations for longer mission times, began coming service in 2003. To market the aircraft internationally, Saab formed partnerships and collaborative efforts with multiple overseas aerospace companies. One example of such efforts was Gripen International, a joint collaboration between Saab and BAE Systems built in 2001. Gripen International was responsible for marketing the aircraft, and was heavily involved in the successful export of the type to South Africa; the organization was later dissolved amidst allegations of bribery being employed to secure foreign interest and sales. On the export market, the Gripen has achieved moderate success in sales to nations in Central Europe, South Africa, and Southeast Asia; bribery has been suspected in some of these procurements, but authorities closed the investigation in 2009.[7] A further version designated Gripen JAS 39E/F is under development as of 2014; it has been referred to as Gripen NG or Super-JAS.[8] The changes include the adoption of a new powerplant, the General Electric F414G, an active electronically scanned array radar and significantly increased internal fuel capacity. Saab has proposed other derivatives, including a navalised Sea Gripen for carrier operations and an optionally manned aircraft for unmanned operations. Sweden and Brazil have ordered the Gripen E/F, and Switzerland initially selected it for procurement. As of 2013, more than 247 Gripens have been built.

Spotting Land After 25 DAYS AT SEA!! (MJ Sailing - Ep 80)

24:58
Our Trans-Atlantic voyage is approaching the end! We pick up this video on Day 18, after we get the news that our friends on s/v Calico Skies are arriving in Horta, while we still have 700 miles left and can expect winds on the nose for the next 72 hours. After plugging through those, we go back to our sunny and calm days and while spending a little time outside get the opportunity to see some sea life in the water. Huge groups of sea salp are floating next to our boat, and we even put the GoPro in the water to get a better look. While we're stuck in what we hope is the last of our high pressure systems, we throw up our drifter to see how it works in place of a spinnaker. At over 40 years old we weren't sure what to expect with this sail, but it did a great job of giving us a little extra oomph! Then...there's landfall! The day we had been waiting to see for such a long time! Even though we had a fantastic crossing and loved our time at sea, we were more than ready to dock in Horta and begin enjoying the wonderful Azores again. Much love from the Atlantic Ocean! (Middleman) - Freight Charge Terms FOB – Free on Board (or Freight on Board). This basically means that the cost of delivering the goods to the nearest port is included but YOU, as the buyer, are responsible for the shipping from there and all other fees associated with getting the goods to your country/address. EXW (Ex-Works) – also sometimes referred to as the Ex-Factory price. This basically means the cost of the product and nothing else! No shipping costs or export fees in China are included in this price, never mind local port and custom fees or delivery to your door. CIF – Cost, Insurance and Freight. In this case, the price also includes sea freight charges and insurance to deliver the goods to YOUR nearest port. But only to the port – from that point onwards, you take the shipment into your hands. CNF – Cost & Freight (or Cost, no Insurance, Freight). Similar to CIF only this time insurance is not included. DDP - Is a transaction where the seller (Manufacturer) pays for the total costs associated with transporting goods and is fully responsible for the goods until they are received and transferred to the buyer. This is the best type of shipping arrangement if your supplier is handling the entire shipment as they deal with everything for you. What do you need? (UK) Bill of Lading ⁃ Supplier (shipper) ⁃ Importer ⁃ delivery address ⁃ instructions ⁃ bill of lading number ⁃ Carrier name ⁃ Freight charge terms (FOB - CIF) ⁃ Commodity Description ⁃ Quantity Commercial Invoice ⁃ States value ⁃ For customs ⁃ For VAT Packing List / Shipping list / waybill /delivery list ⁃ Quantity, type of products Fee Breakdown Freight Forwarder - Total - £348 - Terminal Handling - £69 - Documentation - £100 - Co-Loader Fee - £30 - Customs Clearance - £45 - Pallet Fee x1 - £9.50 - Delivery to warehouse - £95 ——— Sea Shipping - Everything you need to know! 5 Mistakes New Importers Make When Importing Products from China

13:39
Discover the 5 mistakes new importers make when they are importing products from China. Don’t make the same mistakes! Get our free ebook: http://wholesaleted.com/4-step Freightos: http://wholesaleted.com/go/freightos First mistake importers make when importing products from China: Assuming that shipping by sea will be the cheapest option A lot of new importers think they will save money if they ship by sea rather than air. On the surface it seems cheaper as importers usually pay around 60 cents/KG when shipping via sea, compared to the $7/KG when shipping by air courier. Unfortunately what they don’t realize is that the reason it’s that cheap is because when shipping via sea, you ship via container, and you need to rent an entire container. They are very large and require you to be shipping hundreds of KGs to be making it worth your time. If you are an Amazon private label seller, you are unlikely to have enough stock being shipped to fill a container by at least 60-70% so it will be cheaper to ship by air. When shipping by air, you have two options: 1) Air freight 2) Air courier Air courier is when you have your items shipped door-to-door. It is the easiest but the most expensive per KG (although in smaller quantities it is cheaper). Air freight is when you have your items flown from one airport to the other. You will need to organize other additional services: * Having the items delivered to the airport * A customs broker * Having the items delivered from the airport to the final location. There are a lot of fixed fees with this which means it becomes cheaper to use air freight with larger quantities. To figure out which option will be cheaper for you, I recommend using Freightos. Second mistake importers make when importing products from China: Not using the Metric system In China, they use the Metric system and not the Imperial system. So be sure to use KGs instead of lbs and CM instead of inches. It’s important to remember that when working with Chinese suppliers that they expect you to work on their terms and their timeframes. It can be frustrating, but it’s worth it for the cheap Chinese products you import! Third mistake importers make when importing products from China: Using Less than Container Load for shipping When shipping by sea, you have two options: 1) FCL which stands for Full Container Load 2) LCL which stands for Less than Container Load Inexperienced importers fall for the trap of shipping with LCL because they see that the price are extremely cheap. What they don’t realize is that these LCL companies have special deals with the ports to charge you extremely high Destination Service Charges. The LCL companies then make their money in the form of a “rebate” which is essentially commissions/kickbacks. Destination Service Charges are usually priced per-container and cost between $500-$1000 per container for ports in the USA. But when shipping by LCL you end up paying a high fee per cubic meters. It means that you often end up paying a fee comparable to shipping an entire container. Don’t fall for this trap: If you can’t break even with FCL, then ship by air. Fourth mistake importers make when importing products from China: not calculating the correct duties you will need to pay When you import products from China, you will need to pay duties at the border. If you don’t calculate the correct rate you can get a shock if it comes back as more than you expected. Duties can be a bit complicated to work out because there are a lot of variables. For example, if you imported woolen jackets, you need to consider which country the wool came from, as some countries (like Israel) have duty-free agreements over wool, which would reduce the duties you had to pay. On the other hand if synthetic fibres were used instead of pure wool, then your duty rates would be higher since there are higher duties applied to synthetic fibres within the USA. To figure out what your duty rate is, find out what the HTS (Harmonized Tax System) code is for your item. To find this, ask your Chinese supplier as they will most likely know. You can then go through the HTS manual and find what the duty rate is for the HTS code of your products. Fifth mistake importers make when importing products from China: being afraid to make mistakes And finally - don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Through making mistakes you learn how to overcome them the next time and make even more money. Mistakes are apart of entrepreneurship. Learn from others - and learn from your own as well!

Philippine Navy Operate TCOM 28M Aerostat Sea, Air and Land Surveillance System

10:20
The system uses the TCOM 28M Operational Class Aerostat System, which is a medium-sized aerostat made by American company TCOM L.P. which specializes in aerostat used for surveillance. The system has a medium-range detection and monitoring capability that can detect maritime and air traffic operating below its domain. This is very much similar but a little simpler to the Tethered Aerostat Radar Systems used by the US Department of Homeland Security It is equipped with a downward looking radar that can detect sea surface, ground, amd low level aerial activities. Based on publicly available information, the aerostat's radar system can detect up to 90 miles at maximum operating height from its deployment area. Problem with this is its dependent on weather to be deployed, as bad weather may affect its detection system, and may also damage or cut the tethering of the aerostat from the ground. But if this system works well, MaxDefense expects the PN to order more since one isn't enough considering the vast maritime donain of the country.

What Do I NEED to Know about Sea Shipping & Freight Forwarding? TAS 308: The Amazing Seller

49:45
This Episode: •Tips for sea shipping products •Freight forwarding issues •The Flexport FF Solution Probably the most intimidating thing about sourcing products for private label sales from an overseas supplier is the issue of shipping. There are all kinds of issues that you have to be aware of including export licenses, taxes, when ownership of the products transfers to you (thus in indicating your liability), customs fees, and more. You can walk that path yourself or you can have someone help you. Scott definitely advises the later. Find out how it works on this great episode where Scott is chatting with Ryan Peterson, of Flexport. HOW RYAN STARTED THINKING ABOUT CREATING A FREIGHT FORWARDING COMPANY. It’s often the pain we experience ourselves that prompts us, entrepreneurs, to build something to solve that problem. That’s how it was for today’s guest, Ryan Peterson. Ryan had experienced some issues with his supplier and the sea shipping options that not only cost him a lot of money through fees and delays but also didn’t allow him to keep his products in stock as easily as he expected. He’d already worked in the overseas markets and figured he might be the guy to figure out some better systems to make things happen smoothly for others. Flexport is his solution. Find out more about Ryan and the Flexport story on this episode of The Amazing Seller. PRODUCT SHIPPING ISSUES CAN TRIP UP YOUR SALES PIPELINE IN A NUMBER OF WAYS. One of the many problems Ryan Peterson ran into that caused him to build the Flexport solution for purchasers of overseas products was regarding timing. What he discovered was that everything had to legally be done in a certain sequence. If it wasn’t, and his product was shipped before a certain requirement was met, the shipping company would charge him daily fees for having his products “stored” at their facility. It’s just one example of the kinds of headaches it can be to ship by sea. But there are answers and Ryan has built the solution, which you can hear about on this episode of The Amazing Seller. WHEN IT COMES TO DEALING WITH OVERSEAS SHIPPING, MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND THE TERMS. There are all kinds of acronyms and terms used in the sea shipping and freight forwarding that can get you confused. And if you choose the wrong options, thinking they are the right option (which is not entirely unheard of) you can wind up paying lots of money in the form of customs fees and taxes that you really didn’t have to pay. So how do you navigate a field of landmines like that? You need someone to guide you – and on this episode of the podcast, Scott has just the guy – Ryan Peterson of Flexport. HOW ARE YOU GOING TO DEAL WITH YOUR FREIGHT ISSUES FOR PRIVATE LABEL PRODUCTS? If you’re sourcing your products from overseas – China in particular – you are going to have to decide how you are going to handle your shipping issues. You can do it yourself. It’s possible, but you have to know what you’re doing. Or you can hire a company to be the go-between and the one to ensure all steps are being followed properly. To help you make that decision Scott’s brought on an expert from the freight forwarding industry to help you understand the pros and cons of each option – and hopefully to make a good decision for your situation. Power Of INDIAN NAVY - Deadliest Sea Warriors

07:55
The Indian Navy is the naval branch of the Indian Armed Forces. The President of India serves as Supreme Commander of the Indian Navy. The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), usually a four-star officer in the rank of Admiral, commands the navy. The Indian Navy is the fifth largest in the world. It played an important role in India's victory in the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War. The Indian Navy can trace its lineage back to the East India Company's Marine which was founded in 1612 to protect British merchant shipping in the region. In 1793 the East India Company established its rule over eastern part of the Indian subcontinent i.e. Bengal, but it wasn't until 1830 that the colonial navy became known as Her Majesty's Indian Navy. In 1858, East India Company rule gave way to the British Raj which lasted until India became independent in 1947. When India became a republic in 1950, the Royal Indian Navy as it had been named since 1934 was renamed to Indian Navy. The 17th-century Maratha emperor Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is considered as the 'Father of the Indian Navy'. The primary objective of the navy is to secure the nation's maritime borders; India also uses its navy to enhance its international relations through joint exercises, port visits and humanitarian missions, including disaster relief. In recent years, the Indian Navy has undergone rapid modernisation to replace its ageing equipment currently in service, this is often seen as part of "India's drive" to develop blue-water capabilities and enhance its position in the Indian Ocean region. As of 2016, the Indian Navy has a strength of 79,023 personnel and a large operational fleet consisting of two aircraft carriers, one amphibious transport dock, 9 landing ship tanks, 10 destroyers, 14 frigates, one nuclear-powered attack submarine, 14 conventionally-powered attack submarines, 24 corvettes, 6 mine countermeasure vessels, 27 patrol vessels, 4 fleet tankers and various other auxiliary vessels. Aero-TV: Land, Sea, and Air - The 'Top Of The Line' SeaRey Elite

04:36
Turbo Boosted Fun On Land And Sea While at the 2014 U.S. Sport Aviation Expo, ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell talked with Adam Yang, the CEO of Progressive Aerodyne. The new light sport aircraft member of the Searey family is called the "Elite." There's an old saying that goes something like this, "You ain't bragging if you can do it." Well, when Progressive Aerodyne named their new Searey the "Elite," they weren't bragging. This aircraft deserves that title. With over 600 Searey aircraft flying around the world, this Elite version has stepped up in horsepower, construction methods, and interior appointments. The Elite is powered by the Rotax 914 turbocharged engine wrapped in an aerodynamic cowl. The use of carbon fiber makes the airframe lighter, and the interior is sumptuous. If you're a pilot that has dreamed about the possibilities for fun and exploration offered by an amphibious airplane, you need to watch this video. The Searey Elite is a great example of, "Made in America" at its very best. Aero-TV is a production of the Internationally syndicated Aero-News Network. "The Sea Shall Not Have Them"

03:02
The RAF Air Sea Rescue 63ft Type Two HSL, known as the 'Whaleback' from the distinctive curve to its deck, was a high speed launch used in air-sea rescue to save Allied aircrew from the sea after they were shot down during the Second World War. The retrieval of pilots and aircrew shot down over the sea around the British Isles was the responsibility of the Royal Air Force Air Sea Rescue Service, whose motto "The sea shall not have them" coordinated rescues using its own aircraft, aircraft operated by Coastal Command and rescue launches operated by the RAF Marine Craft Service and the Royal Navy. The Type Two High Speed Launch was designed in 1937 by Hubert Scott-Paine, founder of the British Power Boat Company at Hythe Kent. Scott-Paine had previously owned the Supermarine Aviation Company, builders of flying boats including the 1931 outright record holding Schneider Trophy winner S6B and later the Supermarine Spitfire. The launch had a mahogany hull with a low set cabin containing the wheel-house, chart room and a sickbay, for defence two aircraft-style turrets made by Armstrong-Whitworth each with a single .303in Vickers machine gun were fitted to the top deck. The Type Two was supplied to RAF marine craft units from mid 1940, with around 70 Whalebacks being built for the RAF between 1940-42 and served throughout the war including the Mediterranean and Indian Ocean. Following the Dieppe raid in August 1942, the Type Two was modified with extra armament of twin .303in machine guns mounted either side of the wheel-house and a single 20mm Oerlikon gun on the strengthened rear deck. Protection was improved by adding anti-shrapnel padding around the wheel-house and cabin area. Maximum speed of the Whaleback was a respectable 36 knots (41.4mph) from three 500hp Napier Lion aero engines, re- named Sea-Lion after modifications which consumed sixty gallons per hour for each engine at 25 knots giving it a range of 500 miles. She had a crew of nine including a medical office and orderly; later the striking yellow colour scheme gave way to a more sombre grey/black finish.
