Shoe Making: Court Shoe - London College of Fashion Short Courses

https://www.arts.ac.uk/subjects/accessories-footwear-and-jewellery/short-courses/footwear/shoe-making-pumps-or-heels-lcf On 'Shoe Making: Pumps or Heels' you will cover all aspects of design and making of the ballet pump or heeled shoe, starting with the foot anatomy and measurements using a contemporary last. You’ll then be taken step by step through creating different patterns for a variety of styles. Once you have chosen your style, you’ll move onto creating your own pattern, before being shown the different processes involved in constructing a completed pair of shoes. You’ll then be able to make your pair of shoes using a variety of industrial machines in our extensive workshops. We’ll also demonstrate the hand cutting and stitching techniques that are often used for bespoke shoe making. Although not a design course, there will be the opportunity to make lots of creative choices on your style of ballet pump or heeled shoe, and you’ll also be given the opportunity to add your own trims and embellishments.

You'll be taken through foot anatomy in relation to the size fitting system and be introduced to a choice of contemporary last and heel options to construct your boot. You'll have a choice between making a men's or women's Chelsea boot, or a women's high leg zipped boot. Level: Beginners. You should have an interest in the subject area and a desire to learn but no previous experience is required. Cordwainers: London College of Fashion joined forces with the world-renowned Cordwainers College in 2000, forming a union of unique specialist expertise in footwear and accessories. This collaboration has broadened LCF's portfolio of specialist courses and since its formation has trained some of London's most interesting shoe designers.

On the 10th November alongside 6000 people, 25 marching bands, 300 horses, 18 vintage cars and 21 carriages the Cordwainers Float, designed by LCF, will bring high fashion footwear to this historic pagent. In this film we hear from the Ward of Cordwainers and the Worshipful Company of Cordwainers who provide vital student bursaries and funding to help Cordwainers at London College of Fashion and other teaching institutions across the country.

Tote bags are stitched inside out and then turned the right side out with the seams hidden inside. This is a great practical course for beginners and looks at some of the most popular shapes. Basic pattern cutting techniques are covered as well as an introduction to working on industrial machines, following demonstrations on how to make your own turned tote bag.
