The Ancient Art of Persian Carpet Persia Iran

03:37
The Ancient Art of Persian Carpet Persia Iran. Music www.lachini.com The Persian carpet (Pahlavi bōb[1] Persian farš فرش, meaning "to spread" and qāli)[2] is an essential part of Persian art and culture. Carpet-weaving is undoubtedly one of the most distinguished manifestations of Persian culture and art, and dates back to ancient Persia. In 2008, Iran's exports of hand-woven carpets was $420 million or 30% of the world's market.[3][4] There is an estimated population of 1.2 million weavers in Iran producing carpets for domestic markets and international export.[5] In recent times Iranian carpets have come under fierce competition from other countries producing reproductions of the original Iranian designs as well as genuine cheaper substitutes. The designs of Iranian carpets are copied by weavers from other countries as well. Iran is also the world's largest producer and exporter of handmade carpets, producing three quarters of the world's total output.[6][7][8][9] Though in recent times, this ancient tradition has come under stiff competition from machine made products.[10] Iran is also the maker of the largest handmade carpet in history, measuring 60,546 square feet.[11][12][13] Persian carpets can be divided into three groups; Farsh / 'Qālii' (sized anything greater than 6x4 feet), Qālicheh (meaning rug, sized 6x4 feet and smaller), and nomadic carpets known as Gelim (گلیم) Kilim, (including Zilu, meaning rough carpet).[2] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persian_carpet

سپهری Tribute to Sohrab Sepehri 1928-1980 ,Iran, Painter, Poet سهراب

06:49
Music Fariborz Lachini at http://www.lachini.com/ Sohrab Sepehri (Persian: سهراب سپهری ) (October 7, 1928 - April 21 , 1980) was a notable modern Persian poet and a painter. see also http://payvand.com/blog/blog/2010/04/14/tribute-to-iranian-poet-sohrab-sepehri-1928-1980/ He was born in Kashan in Isfahan province. He is considered one of the five most famous modern Persian (Iranian) poets who have practiced "New Poetry" (a kind of poetry that often has neither meter nor rhyme). Other practitioners of this form were Nima Youshij, Ahmad Shamlou, Mehdi Akhavan-Sales, and Forough Farrokhzad, all of whom are now dead. Sohrab Sepehri was also one of Iran's foremost modernist painters. Sepehri died in Pars hospital in Tehran of leukemia. His poetry is full of humanity and concern for human values. He loved nature and refers to it frequently. The poetry of Sohrab Sepehri bears great semblance to that of E.E. Cummings. Well-versed in Buddhism, mysticism and western traditions, he mingled the western concepts with eastern ones, thereby creating a kind of poetry unsurpassed in the history of Persian literature. To him, new forms are new means to express his thoughts and feelings. His poetry has been translated into many languages including French, English, Spanish, Italian, Swedish and Russian.

Historic village of River near Dover Kent

00:59
Historic village of River near Dover Kent. The Village of River sits in a valley through which the River Dour flows. This stretch of river powered a series of watermills over the years. These were both paper and corn mills. The only remaining working mill now is Crabble Corn Mill which dates from 1812. It has recently been restored and is open to the public. It is operated and maintained by The Crabble Corn Mill Trust. Another leisure facility is Kearsney Abbey. This is an extensive park and gardens. The River Dour runs through the park and widens into large lakes which are abundant with swans, ducks and other water fowl. In the grounds are the remains of the mansion that gave the park it's name. It is in these remains that the abbey tea rooms are situated.

Iran SANATI's Unique Art collection Anthropology Museum Tehran

05:14
Rodin of Iran. A unique collection of sculptures by the late Mr Ali Akbar SANATI. Sanati was the symbol of self-reliance who worked for the sake of advancement and sublimity. He has left about 1,000 paintings and 400 sculptures in record of his career.Ali Akbar Sanati was born in Kerman in 1916. He lost his father at an early age and was looked after by a benevolent man. Very soon he discovered that Sanati has a special talent in artistic works and sent the young Ali Akbar to Tehran to receive training at Kamal-ol Molk Art School. He learned sculpture and panting from maestros Hossien Behzad, Abolhassan Sediqi, and Ali Rokhsar and he obtained a master's degree in painting after 12 years of study. A stroke left this Iranian eternal figure and master of sculpture almost paralyzed and he lost his speech since 2003. He had been under intensive care at home by a team of physicians since then but he could not recover due to his old age. Sanati was almost 90 years old at the time of his death. According to the announcements, his funeral will be held on 5th of April and his body will be carried from the front of the Islamic Parliament of Iran or the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tehran with the presence of Iranian artists and artistic-cultural figures He returned to his hometown where he taught 40 children in a nursery for orphans. He later set up a museum at Tehran's Toup Khaneh Square (currently known as Imam Khomeini Square) and transferred it to the then Red Lion and Sun Society (modern Red Crescent Society). The museum was inaugurated in 1946 with an exhibit which received extensive public welcome. He set up another museum at Hafez Street in Tehran in 1951 to present his own paintings. He then took several of his paintings to a museum he set up in Kerman in 1977. During the US-backed military coup to topple the nationalist government of Dr. Mohammad Mossadeq in 1953, his museum in Tehran was ransacked by rioters and some of his sculptures were destroyed. It took two years for Sanati to repair his museum and sculptures.

Ming Dynasty Tombs The Spirit Way China 明朝十三陵

04:10
Ming Dynasty Tombs China The Ming Dynasty Tombs (Chinese: 明朝十三陵; pinyin: Míng cháo shí sān líng; lit. Thirteen Tombs of the Ming Dynasty) are located some 50 kilometers due north of urban Beijing at a specially selected site. The site was chosen by the third Ming Dynasty emperor Yongle (1402--1424), who moved the capital of China from Nanjing to the present location of Beijing. He is credited with envisioning the layout of the ancient city of Beijing as well as a number of landmarks and monuments located therein. After the construction of the Imperial Palace (the Forbidden City) in 1420, the Yongle Emperor selected his burial site and created his own mausoleum. The Ming tombs of the 13 emperors of the Ming Dynasty were located on the southern slope of Tianshou Mountain (originally Mount Huangtu). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ming_Tombs

Yazd 3000 Years of History Persia Iran

07:17
The population of Yazd is predominantly Persian, most of whom are Shi'a Muslims. There are also small Zoroastrian communities. The city of Yazd's first mention in historic records predate it back to around 3000 years B.C. when it was related to by the name of Ysatis, and was then part of the domain of Medes, an ancient empire of Iran. Excavations of Gharbal Biz remaining from the Achaemenid period are another example of the antiquity of Yazd.[2] Zoroastrians have traditionally been populous in Yazd. Even now, roughly ten percent of the town's population according to some estimates adhere to this ancient religion, and though their Atashkadeh (Fire Temple) was turned into a mosque after the Islamic Conquest of Persia, a dignified new fire temple was inaugurated thirteen hundred years later. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yazd_Province
