She shows you from a beginner level and gives two intermediate level ways to get into the position. Initially you might get a bit sore in your neck/shoulders/arms/upper back from this practice if you're not used to practicing headstand, but if you practice mindfully these areas will become strong and supportive. Benefits of turning yourself upside down; headstand: * increases the blood flow to the head, brain and pituitary gland * revitalizes the entire body and can help to relieve anxiety * when done mindfully, with proper alignment can reverse the effects of gravity on the spine * can give you a new perspective :-) Contra-indicators for NOT turning yourself upside down. If you: * have a head/neck/shoulder/spine injury * have high blood pressure * heart disease * severe near-sightedness * weak eye blood vessels * conjunctivitis * chronic glaucoma * inflammation of the ears * are menstruating * have a headache or migraine Check with your doctor if headstand is right for you to practice. Be mindful in your practice always.

I give you a breakdown of the position as well as different tips and exercises to help make it easier. I mention the Yoga Tune Up™ Therapy Balls - in the video i'm using one, but i recommend buying two. you can use one for getting into each side of your body independently. If you don't want to get one of these balls, use a tennis ball or a kids bouncy ball, just make sure it's not too hard. if it's soft that is better than super hard, as hard can make you feel even more stiff after use. Check out: www.yogatuneup.com I am not paid to mention this. I have studies with Jill Miller (the founder) for years and use these balls myself. Check out the video i did with Jill on the YTU therapy balls. This routine will also help you for Reverse Namaste. I hope this video is helpful.
